@lion3p0 Sadly, no. There's a great deal of racism and bigotry still in Oklahoma, and right wing thugs who think anything showing respect for human beings is, to use their vapid vocabulary, "PC". They still use the hateful term "R**skins", and one of the top football programs in the nation is Tulsa Union, which uses that racial slur, getting a lot of national attention for their fine play and embarrassing Oklahoma with their rancid mascot. Should have disappeared decades ago.

Wow beautiful. I love the multi religions that are represented to explain how our feather is like your cross...our regelia is like the priest's robes. There would never be a mascot called "Father Paul" dressed in priests robes and holding out a cross! (Muslim or Jewish kid). I myself would stand up agaist that. It is just an outrage. I can almost see why theyd be mad about this because its savage county, and about teams like redskins and redmen, but high schools like mine who have names from the indian tribes that live their(their even what my town is named after)who indians even admit r honored by should get to keep their names

That gathering of people who spoke at the Tulsa Press Club were some of the best speakers I ever heard speak on the mascot issue. It was heartwarming.
