Nikita Koloff's wrestling career ended in 1992 at Halloween Havoc, when he wrestled Big Van Vader, who was defending the WCW United States title for Rick Rude, who was already booked to wrestle Masahiro Chono for the NWA World title. Vader delivered a stiff clothesline that broken his neck and Nikita suffered a hernia as well.
This isn't from 1990. Koloff only worked a handful of shows for the AWA in 1990, as he was mourning the loss of his wife, Mandy, and he didn't want to work a full schedule. He returned to the NWA/WCW in February of 1991 at Wrestle war '91, where he KO'ed Luger w/the belt reigniting their feud from 1987.
