The Indian govt and Media continually mis-use the word "Maoist", because it is a dirty word, and immediately reminds most Indians (all blindly patriotic), of the Indo-China war and the continued uneasiness between the two countries. It gets worse because the US govt, in its foreign policy play, has decided to pit these two countries against each other as emerging superpowers. Globalization was forced upon India in the 90s, and barely a handful Indians know this or care about it.
