Yes Angel certainly is a mack truck of a scent, I made the critical error of spraying it on this morning (I was rushing out the door) and gee-wiz if I didn't get an instant urge to hurl! A nice scrub down with a baby wipe saved the day...lesson learned!
Katie, I agree I do typically need to snag a sample from Sephora or Macy's so I can sample my intended perfume several times. i HATED Angel even after multiple tries then one day I suddenly liked it, all I had done differently was sprayed it on a Qtip then dabbed it on lightly...guess I was overdoing it before.
I dont think it smells chemically at all, and not even remotely tropical this has a subtle smell to it...very gentle and very nice, and your not suppose to smell it immeiatly after it makes contct, then it will smell like alcohol..idk i like it, and burberry

@charlottesmom Welcome aboard! I often find that my first...second...third...and so on...impressions of a perfume are shifty. It helps sometimes to wear something you think is similar on the other wrist to offer a comparison. And even an emotional response to a scent can change over the months and years. It's the same way you can grow to like certain music or food.

@turtlemanifesto Well, Gap The Lover (now discontinued), is a completely different scent to Juicy Couture (which I do like, but only if sprayed lightly). The Lover was a soft peachy-suede smell, and Juicy Couture is a bright, sweet gardenia.

Cheaper perfumes are really heavy on the alcohol. But Juicy Couture is not a cheap 'n' sleazy scent - it's really well made. It might be that she puts on too much, and you smell that cloud of alcohol right after she applies it. It typically takes a few minutes for the alcohol smell to completely burn off from even the fancier perfumes.
I think JC smells really fancy and classy. I hate the JC brand though, it's so tacky and trashy with the bright pink jumpsuits and stuff...reminds me of paris hilton. and although you gave negative reviews to viva la juicy i really liked it! lol im excited to buy it. maybe u dont like it because ur taste is a little bit more mature? im 18 so i guess my taste will be a bit babyish lol

There's no getting away from the fact that Viva La Juicy is hugely popular, and is many people's go-to sweet perfume.
You're right - the more perfumes you try, the more your tastes will develop and deepen. For now,
if wearing Viva La Juicy makes you feel like a goddess, then you should wear it!

I think it smells really strong of flowers. And I am not a big fan of florals. My favorite perfumes are the one is the floral family (HAHA I know right,) but htey have a citrus keynote or tone. The citrus is what I smell. C:

Some people do get rashes from perfume, because they're sensitive to one or more ingredients in the scent. Moss & citrus can trigger a reaction for many people, but it's a matter of trial and error to find what perfumes don't irritate your skin. In the meantime, you might try spraying the fragrance on your clothes and hair instead of straight on your skin.

i have this perfume and i use it quite frequently. i find that it stays very springy & flowery fresh all day. i always get compliments when i wear it. but perfumes do smell different on different people
I'm not a Juicy fan either...Maybe because too many people wear Juicy these days...and it's starting to have the same appeal to me as wearing a Britney Spears perfume... even if it smells good, it's starting to seem a bit teenage & cheesy..
Perfumes can suffer from popularity and overkill, just like any fashion trend. It's interesting how a smell can accumulate so much baggage, ie "teenage & cheesy".
MellowGlam, I'm loving the new perfume from The Body Shop called Love Etc. It's a warm & cozy vanilla floral that I think will appeal to fans of Juicy Couture and Viva La Juicy.
Also, Kat Von D's Saint & Sinner perfumes are REALLY nice! Saint is a lovely warm vanilla, not too sweet, and Sinner really reminds me of Juliette Has a Gun Lady Vengeance - a buttery patchouli rose.

People have such definite responses to smells, either because of emotional connections, or perhaps because they can't smell certain aspects of the fragrance. It's actually quite common to be anosmic (unable to smell) to musks. I find that I have a hard time smelling anything in Annick Goutal's Musc Nomade, for example.
Katie, I completely agree with you on this perfume, I bought a bottle of Juicy Couture online for a great deal and when I put it on that morning, 20 minutes later I smelt absolutely horrible. You described the smell as "chemically" I thought it smelt of someone trying to cover up BO with a cheap Wal-Mart body mist.

Viva La Juicy is different to Juicy Couture. The original is going for bright tropical florals, and Viva La Juicy is going for syrupy-sweet fruitiness.

I tried this at the shops, thought I liked it and bought a decant. Now it smells plastic and shouty to me. I totally understand the 'eek' factor! Oh well, at least I didn't buy a whole bottle.
I agree with Chancechan - always give something a try before you decide. I try to give a fair overview of the smell, but ultimately, you're the expert on whether it works for you!
i bought this in a .5 fl.oz. size which is really small and i can only spray it once on myself for the entire day it's that strong! i do like it actually but it's not exactly a summer perfume for me
I couldn't agree more with your review.I personally get this scent of new clothes that super rubbery note.For sure wear this lightly and I mean light spray in the air and walk throught it.I simply adore Viva La Juicy it to me smelled just right .

Also, Kat Von D's Saint & Sinner perfumes are REALLY nice! Saint is a lovely warm vanilla, not too sweet, and Sinner really reminds me of Juliette Has a Gun Lady Vengeance - a buttery patchouli rose.

It doesn't smell like a soapy musk on me, but fragrances smell different on different people.

People have such definite responses to smells, either because of emotional connections, or perhaps because they can't smell certain aspects of the fragrance. It's actually quite common to be anosmic (unable to smell) to musks. I find that I have a hard time smelling anything in Annick Goutal's Musc Nomade, for example.

Katie, I completely agree with you on this perfume, I bought a bottle of Juicy Couture online for a great deal and when I put it on that morning, 20 minutes later I smelt absolutely horrible. You described the smell as "chemically" I thought it smelt of someone trying to cover up BO with a cheap Wal-Mart body mist.
QUESTION: have U tried Viva La Juicy by Juicy Couture and if so, what is the smell like? ne thing like the original? thanks for answering my question. I'll try unscented lotion:)

Viva La Juicy is different to Juicy Couture. The original is going for bright tropical florals, and Viva La Juicy is going for syrupy-sweet fruitiness.

i bought this in a .5 fl.oz. size which is really small and i can only spray it once on myself for the entire day it's that strong! i do like it actually but it's not exactly a summer perfume for me

I couldn't agree more with your review.I personally get this scent of new clothes that super rubbery note.For sure wear this lightly and I mean light spray in the air and walk throught it.I simply adore Viva La Juicy it to me smelled just right .
