  • ordering right know :D

  • lol, i noticed you put the tape into fast forward while it was loading.....

  • how much difference would there be in having a 1GB 4870 to having a 512MB 4870?? would the framerates change much??

    can i play enthusiast settings @ 1680x1050 @4xAA with 2x 4870's 1GB in crossfire?

  • 4870 1gb 5-17%>4870 512mb

  • thanks :D

  • not true, the extra mb its only used when u have a big resolution monitor but is useless when u want to play it on 1280x1024.

  • only at really high res

  • Yes, you'll get playable framerates.

  • i did it and its only 2/3 fps difference ..huge deception here dont do it if u have the 512 the only reason to get the 1gb is if u would like to do somehting that takes lots of gpu activity . wich means 2 or more screeen on 1 screeen there performance isnt worth enough the change!

  • thanks man :)

  • @steevyp

    ofcourse

1gb is way better..the games runs smoother at lower fps than a 512 card at a higher fps

  • @steevyp i have a 4870 x 2 Rampage 700

    has 1 gb.

    1980 x 1080 all settings max.

    AA x 8

    works perfect

  • lol he just got a 512 mb

  • you dont need to use dx10 iff you run high

  • Er du norsk?

  • With a few minor tweaks to the very high settings and lots of overclocking i got my phenom II 940 / Gigabyte 4870 1GB running this benchmark with 47 average fps. at 1280x1024 resolution, 16x AF, no AA. Yay :P

  • Oh man i got on 1280x1024 No AA 9800GT an avearage of 40 fps on al high whit an e6320 check my video :( poor quality

  • I think the result is not correct, should be better results...

  • cool computer!

  • thats on a 19" lcd screen

  • how much fps do you think i can get with?

core 2 duo E8400 3.00GHz (Might over clock tho)

    Ati radeon 4870 1gb

    4GB DDR2-800 Duel channel

    500w

  • probably a steady 30

  • 30ish :) playable :D

  • it turns out im getting a 4890 anyways

  • same :P

  • :( i wish i was you

  • Well, you have pretty close specs to his, but I would expect a little lower FPS.

  • depends on resolution, i guess, without overclocking you'd run the game @ very high, 1280x1024 res. at an average of 35 fps. Overclocking does help though: i got the game running 25% faster just by overclocking my cpu+gpu.

  • Im upgrading video cards to a XFX HD4870 1gb

Would i be play this game wihtout a problem??

    Phenom x3 8750 @ 2.41 Ghz

    3gb's DDR2 667 Ram

    HD 4870 1gb

Will it run smoothly after i get the video card?

  • fuck yes.

  • can i play this on very high/high

    dual core 2 duo e7200@ 2.53x2

    3 gig ram

    ati hd radeon 4870 1gig ?

  • hey...

i have a hd4870 1gb too, but my CPU is very old (Intel Pentium D 935) @3,8GHz and i often get only 15FPs at very high...

    what is you CPU? Q6700??

  • omg you should really change ure cpu! its seriously bottlenecking ure 4870

  • in the system requirements they say 256 mb gpu so you can play it on max :D

  • Core i7-965 Extreme 4x3.2Ghz

    6144MB DDR3 RAM

    2x 1792MB NVIDIA GTX 295

can i play this on very high?

    HELL YES!!! :D

  • More like max settings!

  • yes you will be able to play this easily on high and on veryhigh with a few spurts here and there. i have a similar set up and i play at 1920x1080 ;)

  • Haha, kunne høre lang vei du var norsk.. tror jeg skal skaffe meg en 4870x2 :)

  • Hey will i be able to play this game at very high settings?? my monitor is 1280-1024

    The specs are

    E8400 @ 3,0 GHz

    HD 4870 512 mb edition

    4 gb of DDR2 1066 Mhz

  • Yes, u will have 25-30 fps :)

  • Very high yes, but no AA. also you may notice a few slowdowns here and there but it should be totally playable at that resolution.

  • surprisingly (or however u write it) i can play it with 2xAA with almost no FPS drop and yea there are some slowdowns but not many

  • u know, i've been wondering, i have a 4870 512 mb on a 22" widescreen ... 1 gb would be waaay better or just for even high resolutions like 1920x1200!?!?

  • INTEL=pwns

    Amd=Pwns

it depends on the processer there :P and also the core lol

  • Hey everybody!

I have some very nice benchmarks for ya :)

When i upgraded from driver 9.1 to 9.2 i got 6fps MORE ON HIGH!!!

    Driver 9.1 High 1680x1050 = 40.33 (record)

    Driver 9.2 High 1680x1050 = 46.50!

Crysis high is very smooth now :)

  • @Rawtassen check my specs on my profile --> Play Time: 49.66s, Average FPS: 40.27  Min FPS: 14.29 at frame 135, Max FPS: 51.48 at frame 1010 Average Tri/Sec: -38760976, Tri/Frame: -962419 Recorded/Played Tris ratio: -0.95

  • wtf, I get 20fps average on crysis @ 1280x1024 very high on benchmark, thats with a 9800GTX+ and a x2 4200+@ 2.5ghz

  • its cause your cpu sucks

  • /cry

  • Probably not the reason, Games use the GPU, hardly uses the CPU, therefore your theory Fails, Crysis on very high is slightly demanding, I get more than 20 fps with my 9600gt, I don't know why Ish's frame rate is so low :S(btw, I'm running 16x10).

  • "Games use the GPU, hardly uses the CPU,"

That actually depends on the game, some games actually are more CPU dependent, like Crysis. Games like COD4 are not as CPU dependent.

  • 1. don't turn anti alliasing on, my mate loses about 30 fps with his gtx280 on x6

    2. you CPU is kinda slow ish718

  • lol i have the hd 4850 and i get 35+ fps on high at 1680x1050 lol and my system costed $650 ^^

  • u can get better performance with the new i7 processor and new motherboards and ddr3 ram. so if you add all that he can increase frams to 40 i think

  • do u have the 512 card or the 1 GB card? because im getting the 1 GB version (Sapphire) and i want to know how many fps i will get (have the same spec) but the Asus maximus 2 Formula

  • well it depends on screen size. if you use a bigger screen then there is a difference. But you can get the same performance on both on a regular sized screen.

But its quite cheap so get the 1gb. but if u can spend money the X2 is the best.

  • Im gonna play 1280x1024 on a 19 monitor

  • if money is a problem go for the 512mb. I have it. but if you can spend a little more like 40 more fucks or soemtihng the 1 gb version for future use

  • I have a 4850 and i want to upgrade.What is better 4850x2 or 4870 1Gb?And what worth it better?(sorry for my bad english)

  • A 4870x2 is a better card than the 4870 1gb, but the 4870 1gb is probably better price for performance. It also depends on your pc specs and your monitor size/resolution. Hope that helps a bit.

  • nice to read that the hd4870 1gb better in price for permence :) i like my sapphire video card :D

  • just get another 4850 and crossfire them

  • What song did you use btw?

    It's awesome.

  • The band is called "The Flashbulb" and the song name is "Elevator Fibbonachi"

  • I have pretty much the same rig. Just ordered Warhead, so it will be interesting to see what kind of FPS I will get.

  • Great Vid. What song?

  • The band is called "The Flashbulb" and the song name is "Elevator Fibbonachi"

  • That loading is well fast!!

  • he sped it up

  • i think it was speeded up

  • I speeded it up yes :)

  • am sorry about the 3870x2 am not gettin that lol am gettin da 4870 PALIT YE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Shit I meant 9

  • What's it like in DX10?

  • 3870x2 is well better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • not acording to most benchmarks

  • Sweet I got the same CPU @ the same clocks, not to mention a 780i, 4GB of Corsair Dominator RAM, and 2 XFX GTX260 Core 216 Black Editions. My score should top this, that's for sure.

  • yes of course but his rig value for money is better

  • type "crysis benchmark" in google.

  • where I can find this benchmark program...?

    I have HD 4850

  • Have you tried overclock your card to the limits and do the test then? :PP

  • Good video.

  • hey whats the monitor like im geting literally the same 1 with my new gaming rig except mine has a built in webcam, thanks

  • how you liking your tough power 750 PSU mine is starting to buzz not a good sign (sigh)

  • I ran the same test but at 1920 by 1200 at very high with my 4870X2 I got 42 frames average and 66.7 max. ATI still has some work to do on these cards, they can get more performance with better driver. Note, on the very last level of crysis I have issues with the game locking up and I've been reading forums with other people having this issue with 4870 card's, is their anyone else with this problem

  • yes, i have the same problem.

  • what kind of problem? because i was going to buy this gpu.

  • you have almost the same computer as me

  • nice ;) im pretty happy with my current gaming config.. ;D

  • If you run the game in DX9 high rather than DX10 high you can get an extra 10-15% fps increase. DX10 is a joke and in my opinion, the game actually looks better in high rather than very high because the color grading in very high is more dull.

  • small penis?

  • hahaha, with the gtx 260 i got over 25 fps in the bench at that rez, lol

  • its nvidia optimized

  • what program u using to show ur fps?

  • Nice. How much do you get with 16xQAA enabled, very high and 1680x1050?

  • 39.5fps @ default speed is low.

    I get 42fps with E4300 @ 3.2Ghz and stock 4870.

  • I'll get a new graphics card when it can hit 33+ min fps maxed on crysis.

  • can some one please help me i have run it on 1024 x 768 and i have the very high config for xp en i set 4 times aa and the min is 9 and and the avrage is 22 can please some one help me

when i start crysis and u see the begin screen my video card makes scary sound's u hear a piep or something...

  • why do people run at such high res. just running at 800x600 with some aa at very high should look nice.

do you think you can make a test with that?

    thatd be awsome!

  • yes. sure. on a 14" CRT Monitor.

  • nah, a 17" would do me justice. mines a lcd but no dvi on it. ]=

  • 800 x 600 on my friends 24" would be a problem, lol

anyway on the highest settings with 1024x768 it looks like crap due to low pixels per inch

  • can't wait to get my new rig with a HD4870 in it :D

  • With that card on very high, 1440 x 900, I get like 39 FPS

  • hi, i have Asus 4870 ,Q6600 3015MHZ and 4gb od cl4 800MHZ..+ Asus Deluxe X48..i have special config that gives you additional +15 FPS so i play on very high about 35-45FPS...really :)

  • Quick Question.. How Big is your Monitor... Plus What version of Vista Are You running...?

  • see video description :)

  • cool!

  • would a E8500 be better than his processor?

  • That depends how much you overcklock it. If you get it running at 3.6GHz you'll get more performance, yes.

  • Actually the E8500 is more suited than his processor for playing games due to the bigger cache, even in Crysis which claims to be "multi-core friendly". Google E8500 benchmarks and you will see what I mean.

  • I'm building a new pc next week. Could someone tell me how many fps i'll get @ 1024x1024 with 4xAA

    The specs are: E8400, HD4870, 2GB RAM,

  • i ran the same test used the same settings and got 35.89 fps avg with my visiontek 4870

    system is:

    amd 9950 oc@3.0

    4870 @ 785/1050

    4gigs of corsair Xms2 800

M3A32 Mvp delux mobo... i think my old ram holds me down plus my HDD is 2 yrs old..none raid..

  • sad that 3 card gens after crysis came out its still not be able to be whooped . maybe the 5000 series will own it .

  • Thats because the CryEngine is very bad programmed.

We will probably see a better written engine in Warhead.

  • Hey man what the best grpahic card that i can have with 200$ with that pc ; intel core quad q6600 graphic card:geforce 7250le-_- i dont like this 3g ram ????

  • thank u a lot guy

  • I'm working on a Crysis Gameplay video atm, with Very High! Its coming on youtube later this evening! STAY TUNED! :D

what music should I add? or just gameplay sounds? (I have recorded the sound very low :/)

  • The video is added! See my videos!

  • My Spec: Mobo: Asus P5Q P45 RAM: 2GB Corsair at 4-4-4-15, 667Mhz(1:1withFSB) HD: Seagate Barracuda 500GB SATA-2 7200RPM/32MB Cache Power Supply: Corsair Memory 750W Case: Coolermaster CM 690 Black Gfx: Sapphire Radeon HD 4870 CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 3.0GHz I get around 20-25avg fps and usually its very stuttery during action scenes. Explanation? RAM - I am running Vista 64bit(RAM HUNGRY) and will be getting 4GB OCZ RAM in a day or two DEMO - Maybe the real game has better performance?
  • if you get new 4GB ram and overclock the GPU to maks (890\1100) you should get Crysis almost playable at the demo (around 20-30fps). If you buy the game you'll not get playable later in the alien part.

  • Got 4GB RAM today and oc'd the 4870 to 790/1100 (dow did you get 890/1100?). OC'd the q6600 to 3.1Ghz and booted up the demo. Put all on Very high on dx10 and WOW smooth 30-40 frames. Only when throwing three grenades at a small enemy base did it lag up to 25fps. Great performance.

  • Thats awsome! :D

I use the AMDGPUClock tool... just google it and download! Then you can bypass the CatalystControlCenter max OC.

Just type in the clock you want :)

  • I am planing to buy a motherboard with p43 or p35 chipset, and all other componets same as yours. Will it like this?

  • What does anti alasing even do?

  • it makes the jagged edges smooth.

  • could you tell me what i'd get if i played that same res and graphic card if i had AA maxed?

  • Very High, 8x AA and 1680x1050 is something like 15-17fps avarage I think...

  • I don't like HIS the Sapphire one is uch better, imo.

    nice vid anyway.

  • there basicaly the same thing just different names

  • hahaha Geek stuff :P

    GBTRL

  • hey what drivers are you using or something because i got a 4870, E8400, 4GB ram and im running high at 1680 X1050 at 25 fps, max 30..

  • On the video I'm using 8.7 , but try the 8.8beta! It improves the framerate alot!

  • what program are you using to benchmark this? When I play crysis with my Powercolor HD 4870 I get 15-20 fps if i'm lucky. My fan is set to 100 and my clock to max what am i doing wrong? Here is my system specs: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.60GHz (2 CPUs, 3070MB RAM, Hard Drive:

316 GB, Video Card: Radeon HD 4870, Monitor:

    19" Acer plug and play.

  • It's the pentium 4 proc that cannot keep up with the gfx card.

  • Get rid of that pentium.

  • what's wrong with pentium?

  • It's too fucking slow to keep up with the gpu

  • Crysis takes big advantage of Dual and Quad core procs...the old P4 is a bit outdated for it even Oc'ed at 3.6..i bet a small dual core proc would boost your fps a few easy..:P i hope this helps

  • ya i recently upgraded to a quad 2.4 ghz and am overclocking it to 3.0.

  • Not bad but everyone needs to understand that ur FPS drops when you get to the aliens....your 25 is going to drop in the 10's.

  • can i put two of the hd4850 in the asus x38?

  • yep :) You get full CrossFire scaling at this mobo!

  • Lol, I have the nearly same rig as your

    Q6600 B3 @ 3Ghz-3.4Ghz (Coolermaster Hyper 212)

2G Gskill(2x1G) F2-8500CL5E PI series (will add another 2G later)

    ATI 3870--Upgrading to 4870 today :D:D

    TT Toughpower 750W (CM)

    Samsung 320G

    Antec 900

    Vista Ultimate 32bits

  • I just beated my record in Crysis!!!

Using catalyst Driver 8.8 beta i got 40.66FPS at High, 1680x1050. CPU overclocked to 3.08GHz, ram to 1026MHz and GPU to 811\1230MHz :D

please visit this page for proof! triple-w (dot) diskusjon (dot) no/index (dot) php?showtopic=976378&st=20&start=20

(See the latest post by me "Core2Dude")

  • I have idle 47C and load max 68C Fan speed 40%.

  • Raphinha181290 Try using google.

  • Everyones results seem low, I'm getting 48fps av at 1680x1050 high.

  • He's cpu is bottlenecking the gpu.

He needs to overclock it up to 3.5 GHZ.

  • I dont think the CPU is a bottleneck, its a quad core, my dual core only runs at 3.4 and on crysis benchmark results on a forum I am on you can see between 3Ghz and higher there is nothing in it for crysis.

  • Actually, I think I can get a couple, or at least one FPS if I overclock the CPU to 3.5GHz or more.

I've ordered the Xigmatek HDT-SD964 CPU Cooler :) So im soon going to show you the result with Q6600 at 3.5GHz, RAM at 1000MHz or more, GPU to maks OC!!

Hope I'll pass 42fps then at High :D:D

  • 1680x1050, DX9, high? 42, you should easilly tbh.

Next time you do the benchmark, exit all the crap in windows, even put windows classic theme back on for the benchmark! you should get some extra fps. tbh a quad at 3-3.5Ghz should be good enough.

  • ok, i will. But its DX10. I think DX10 is much better than DX9. I can clearly see the difference.

  • If you where running in DX10 then your results may well be ok. But can you tell me what you see different in DX10, High, Vs DX9, High? DX10 Very high has alot of difference but even in, if there is a difference, it can all be done in DX9, I recommend you look on Crymod site for some cfgs, usually giving better performance too and better graphics, I can send you some if you like?

  • 4870 fries!!! watch out for the temp!

  • here is crysis world record done by my dog:

    4870:643578642098604575237621532523853 FPS.

    280gtx:4398564475594357485645636432763 FPS.

  • what program does he use?

  • search google with "crysis bench download" and press guru3D's link :)

  • gtx280 at 1680.1050 DX10 all very high no filters in crysis gets 24 FPS.

the 4870 at the same exact settings gets

    25 FPS.

so the 4870 beats gtx280 in crysis.

and if crysis were DX10.1 instead of DX10

the 4870 would've killed the 280gtx in crysis.

cause the 4870 in DX10 and DX10.1 slays the

280gtx on vista in assassins creed.while the 280gtx in DX9 on XP

    do better in crysis.

  • Crysis world records, done by best OC'ers around:

    DX10 very high, vista 1680x1050

    is current record..

  • If you compare this to Bsan89, the GTX 280 hits the same average FPS at 1920x1200 very high as the 4870 does at 1680.

So if you have 1680x1050 monitor a single 4870 runs crysis dx10 high fine for the whole game and very high bar the very last bits.

Ram' film CPU 1 benchmark 1, you will find the bat in the crysis bin64 folder.

  • bsan's 280gtx is 18% overclocked.

a nonoverclocked 280gtx gets 20.3fps at 19x12 res with very high settings on.

a 280gtx on stck clocks gets at the exact settings rawtassen tested his 4870

    "24.33 fps"

we are talking about nonoverclocked cards.

well, the diamind xoc4870 will be clocked 28% higher than the reference 4870,Is it fair to compare it to a nonoverclocked 280gtx?

  • ATI 4870 XOC i think is 950mhz core! OMFG

  • Hey guys i need to ask how much better than AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ is the Intel Core 2 Duo E8400? Will AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+

    bottleneck this card or not???

  • The answer may be a Q6600 at 3GHZ is runnign it very well. An E8400 main gain a few ave FPS. But makes huge difference in the physics parts of the game (later levels).

  • Bsan89 is using a Qx9650 clocked at 4GHz on nvidia's latest 790I mobo and 4Gigs of DDR3 at 1600MHz.

    So,he's actually kicking his gpu.

  • and if he pushes to 4.4 he gets another 5-7 FPSon the average. Rob at HD its about min and max and average you really don't understand this. 4870 starts to stall after 1600 res. GTX can play high even at 2560x1600 (first card ever that could). 4870 and GTX 280 are not for the average user, 4850 and GTX 9800+ are x1.
