I have read that using the PS-6 will cause a big drop in your overall volume and that the pedal is not really useable in a live situation due to the volume drop that occurs when the pedal gets turned on. Did you notice a big drop in volume Andy when using the pedal? I want to get one, but not if I can't really use it live. I can deal with a very small volume drop though some of the reviews kind of scared me away from already ordering a PS-6.
@WahToneGuitars POG is something totally different. If you're looking for harmonizing in thirds ,etc a POG won't be much help. The fake "organ" is similar sounding. Any POGs I've used were kind of out of control and unpredictable though. And noisy.
You know what? I think if I hadn't watched that magnificent tone at 1:22, I could have saved myself $350 on a volume pedal, the harmonist, and a delay. Thank you very much ProGuitarShopDemos, thanks allot. :P
@gredangeo Depends on the interval, and how you have them mixed. Say both are at 50/50 dry wet blend. Having the first be a fourth up and the sencond an octave. You'd get your original signal+a 4th+an Octave+a 4th one octave up.
What if I prefer to play the HIGHER notes? I need something that can play the lower harmonies only so it would be ME that gets into the highest notes.
@coppoman1 lol i think he actually uses a whammy pedal though.. a friend of mine has this exact pedal and when i found out that the pedal does that i instantly feld obligated to play that solo
Does harmony react the same way when say playing in the key of Dm, and using the relative major of F as the setting for the harmony, as it would if you set the pedal to Dm?
What should i buy? A Boss BF-3 Flanger (Because i would rly like it to play Muse- Map of the problimatique) Or should i buy the Boss ps-6 Harmonist, cause it sounds nice? Plz help me.
What should i buy? A Boss BF-3 Flanger (Because i would rly like it to play Muse- Map of the problimatique) Or should i buy the Boss ps-6 Harmonist, cause it sounds nice? Plz help me.
@keihardgek the easiest and cheapest way is to get a digitech whammy and a molten voltage molten midi 2. there's a video on my channel dedicated to recreating the Map of the Problematique effect. :)
@mistad00m I don't think any Boss products are true bypass. That's not a bad thing, especially is you have long cables or a lot of bypassed pedals in your chain.
@guitargodh - in fact, i find that it sounds best after my dist pedal, kinda funny really, but that's my personal experience.. when i just bought it, i use it first in chain, but at drive setting it didn't sound like a harmonizer, more like i'm playing a chord.. but i love this pedal a lot now..
@plasticguitar This thing is SO much better than the Digitech whammy for harmonies. The boss pedal automatically gives you harmony notes, whereas the digitech is pretty useless in that category. The Digitech offers more ovtaves for divebombs it seems though. In reality, the whammy features are fun to mess around with for about 20 mins, but are pretty useless for the most part (unless you're trying to do RATM or Audioslave solos in your set)
@guitargodh - As a general rule, harmonizer pedals work best at the very beginning of your signal chain, but we found that the PS6 worked well after distortion too. We would recommend trying it both ways and deciding for yourself which way is best for your application. There really isn't a wrong way to do it. Thank for watching!
@ProGuitarShopDemos Hey man I'm not saying you're wrong, just advising with my setup (using a POD 2.0) the Harmoniser sounded unbelievably bad at the beginning of the signal chain but the sounds were similar to this video if it was put at the end. The distortion created by the POD was basically disorting the harmonies, just a tip for anyone with the same setup, put it at the end definitely!
should i get this thing if i just want something to play in different tunings... so i dont have to waste time and/or money buying guitars or tuning them all the time?
Sure, the vibrato octave stuff is good, in a silly way, but I'd rather have a standard rocker pedal for standard octave work. Go BOSS and go DigiTech.
PGS, I play an Ibanez RGA8 into a Peavey 6505+ half stack and I use a Decimator G-String I bought from you guys. I also have a Boss GT-10 and when I try to use it with my amp it really kills the tone even when I use a clean patch with small amounts of Chorus, Delay, Reverb and a Pitch Shift Harmonizer. My question is, do you think this PS-6 would react more favorably and not effect my amps killer tone so much?
Andy i noticed that u've played that DOGS riff, the guitar is actually doubled(and u probably know that) but im willing to play it on a band, the ps-6 can really make a good ''doubleing'' sound?I liked what i've heard on the video but asked just to be sure.
