i don't get it.. i think i'm in love with wiccans and everything about them and it all makes sense to me. But everyone is so bias about it that i can't find anything about it.. i really wish they had a 'bible' of some sort that i could read about or something. could someone help me out with some details?
They have a traditional Alexandrian Bible called the Witches' Bible if you wanted to look at it. Wicca can be hard to find in the sense of traditional things. Wicca was meant to be secreted and only so few were meant to really know about it until you were initiated.But there are some wonderful books and sites for beginner wiccans who just want to come up with their own theories and system. Wicca is very personal now unlike how it was before. It is less structured than before.

This is absurd. wicca has no historical accuracy and is MAN- made. this is also not pagan.the northern europeans have real, historically acurate celebrations for yule and this is not it. Now this brings back memories, I once joined in a circle just like this for Beltane. That coven is no more now, and watching this makes my heart ache to be part of a circle again just being part of a community and in the company of others who follow this path on such a sacred night...it just feels safe and good. @Damnedsoul53 Yeah, this does not look like any Solstice ritual I've attended or hosted, but I suspect this type of circle is more typcial than my own preferences. But I'm very Neopagan, not nearly as formal or traditional. As the Solstice represents the symbolic "rebirth" of the Sun, we try to include a little soul-searching and decide what we might like to see "birthed" in our own lives. Our way of living in harmony with Nature.

Especially people who cannot attend covens, but would like to see and get a feel of what the sabbat really is about. I liked this ritual--it had all the important Yule elements, as well as the touch of "real" people. It wasnt over-rehearsed or phony looking--nobody was dressed in over-the-top goth wear or ornate costumes. It was done in the true spirit of community and from the heart. I liked it and I'm sure the Lord and Lady were pleased as well.

Hehe, these people are at least not hurting anyone with their beliefs. Unlike Christainity/Islam etc, they do not have a list of restrictions on what a person can or cannot be. I am an agnostic, more towards the Atheistic end of the spectrum, and I hate the negative things that religion bring into the world, but these people are just getting together and having fun...I see no harm here.

The rites, just as any rituals, are just that. Something to honor the passing of time. The meaning might be lost to many, but the rituals are still practiced to honor the old wisdom. Yule means 'wheel'. The longest night. To observe the dying sun and the rebirth. New Years eve, people drinking and counting down and kissing, that it is a modern tradition and ritual, yet no one picks modern rituals apart. Why is this?
I've been wanting to get into a pagan religion and I've tried wicca, but I don't worship anything, I don't like having to ask a god or goddess for strength for me to get over a problem. Depends on what you might be interested in. Most pagan paths are esoteric. It take time to find the one that is 'right' for you. You might try Asatru, its a bold suggestion seeing as I know nothing about you. In my humble opinion, you don't ask the gods for strength there... they expect you to have it already.

There is something very powerful about Wicca that Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism or whatever faith you follow should/could glean from.

i don't get it.. i think i'm in love with wiccans and everything about them and it all makes sense to me. But everyone is so bias about it that i can't find anything about it.. i really wish they had a 'bible' of some sort that i could read about or something. could someone help me out with some details?

They have a traditional Alexandrian Bible called the Witches' Bible if you wanted to look at it. Wicca can be hard to find in the sense of traditional things. Wicca was meant to be secreted and only so few were meant to really know about it until you were initiated.But there are some wonderful books and sites for beginner wiccans who just want to come up with their own theories and system. Wicca is very personal now unlike how it was before. It is less structured than before.

This is absurd. wicca has no historical accuracy and is MAN- made. this is also not pagan.the northern europeans have real, historically acurate celebrations for yule and this is not it. Now this brings back memories, I once joined in a circle just like this for Beltane. That coven is no more now, and watching this makes my heart ache to be part of a circle again just being part of a community and in the company of others who follow this path on such a sacred night...it just feels safe and good. I miss it, being solitary gets lonely for someone like me. Anyway this is beautiful, blessed yule and blessed be to all.

But I'm very Neopagan, not nearly as formal or traditional. As the Solstice represents the symbolic "rebirth" of the Sun, we try to include a little soul-searching and decide what we might like to see "birthed" in our own lives. Our way of living in harmony with Nature.

Especially people who cannot attend covens, but would like to see and get a feel of what the sabbat really is about. I liked this ritual--it had all the important Yule elements, as well as the touch of "real" people. It wasnt over-rehearsed or phony looking--nobody was dressed in over-the-top goth wear or ornate costumes. It was done in the true spirit of community and from the heart. I liked it and I'm sure the Lord and Lady were pleased as well.

The rites, just as any rituals, are just that. Something to honor the passing of time. The meaning might be lost to many, but the rituals are still practiced to honor the old wisdom. Yule means 'wheel'. The longest night. To observe the dying sun and the rebirth. New Years eve, people drinking and counting down and kissing, that it is a modern tradition and ritual, yet no one picks modern rituals apart. Why is this?

Depends on what you might be interested in. Most pagan paths are esoteric. It take time to find the one that is 'right' for you. You might try Asatru, its a bold suggestion seeing as I know nothing about you. In my humble opinion, you don't ask the gods for strength there... they expect you to have it already.

But then again, I don't actually honor named gods and goddesses specifically; rather, I honor simply the Sun, Moon and Earth, etc. I guess I've just never felt the need interpret them in any other way.

I find it unfortunate that Wiccan rituals are often painted as demonic or evil. All religions have rituals that seem strange if you are unacquainted with them. All religions have words and phrases that are sacred to them, whether they be chants or catechism or prayers.
I find this ritual simple and beautiful. Thank you for sharing.

There is something very powerful about Wicca that Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism or whatever faith you follow should/could glean from.
In the Wiccan Rede it states, "An it harm none, Do what ye will." Do not harm others, yourself or anything. Similar to the Golden Rule, mind you. Therefore, if you follow this or that, please respect and tolerate each other the best you can, derogatory comments or not. I will try to do the same.
