I just saw this movie and I love it. What a beautiful love story with some incredible characters. Widow Thayer was a total riot.... and I fell in love with the character of Pike. I wish there were straight men out there like that!

@Eohyr It's ridiculous how shallow gay men can be. Here's a newsflash, Eohyr: not all gay men are gym bunnies. This movie actually portrays what the average person looks like. It's not a typical shitty Hollywood film. And how on earth is this movie depressing??? Brokeback Mountain is depressing. Most gay films have characters that end up with Aids or get their heads bashed in. It's refreshing to see a gay themed movie without the typical stereotypes.

@Patriciameadows I'm just not that interested in movies like this. Not once did I say the movie was bad, I was just implying that my impression of it made me somewhat sad, but the ending was certainly good. I'm not shallow or anything, I just don't like this specific taste in movie. Regardless of what I said, I am willing to admit that this movie was a tearjerker, and extremely powerful. I ran across it on T.V. last night and devoted the rest of the night to trying to find what in God's name the title was. Figured it out. Bought it. Seldom do I ever see anything original in filmmaking anymore but here we have it. Whatever you end up thinking about it--people love it or loathe it--you owe it to yourself to see it.

I just saw this movie last night. MY GOD I LOVE IT! I was cheering for Pike for the win, I mean yeah Dean had the sweet sweet body but Pike was so sweet and gentle. I felt like he needed to win after learning how to cook those dishes just for his crush. We all been there when it came to trying impress some crush.

This is a wonderful mesh of scenery, country music, and interesting characters. Dean, as a 'curious' guy treated Henry the only way he knew how and didn't understand the tension that Henry felt. Widow Thayer was done so well.

I SO agree. I didn't really care for Pike at all. I LOVED Dean. Dean was an ass for the way he treated Henry, but I LOVE Dean and Henry. Those two are great together. That particular scene at thanksgiving oh man it was insanely good!!

This is a great movie, and the Native American actor that plays Pike, Eric Schweig, is one of the most gorgeous men on the planet. He played Uncas in The Last of the Mohicans with Daniel Day Lewis. Gorgeous, gorgeous man!

Big Eden is an absolute treasure, I watched it 3 times in the past 5 days; Arye reminded me of Pee Wee Herman, lol. I really felt the emotional scenes between Henry & Dean, but also didn't understand the lack of emotion at other times. Comments? Its great to watch a film, especially one with gay characters, that doesn't end in violence/tragedy. Anybody have any comments, positive ones, I'd like to hear them (but not negative ones). Any suggestions of films like this?
