As for CSI and criminal minds and all that shit, Detectives find bad guys. Bad guys go to jail, or some1 dies. Next episode. Its always the same thing. its getting old.
Hawaii Five 0, however is different. as the team investigates and uncover cases, there are always side stories and mysteries relating to their private lives.

I think u r a little bit exaggerating about how awesome this show is.
I love all the CBS crime shows, as well as this one, but there is no show that can be compared to the huge success of CSI - with more than 250 episodes, high ratings and the effect that actually came upon the public reaction.
Lets just hope that "Hawaii Five-O" will achieve at leat a quarter of all this...

I was watching Hawaii Five 0, in New Zealand, tonight and there was a song at the end of this series where Surfers paddled out into a circle to pay theor respects for a person who died. I am wanting to know the song that was playing in the background. A nice male lead song very moving like a lament. I have been searching for years so would be truly grateful if anyone can assist, I heard the words, e kapono o Hawaii, I'm not sure if I heard clearly. Thank you all.
I think what people fail to understand is that Remakes are inherently going to be different then the original. You have to treat it as a separate entity in itself, With ties to the past. Just sit back and enjoy the show
The Caan boy playing 'Danno' uses the "awkward pause" method of acting his lines; An example is the new show "Parenthood" - the dialogue is so halting and hesitant, it's maddening to know it's okay with the directors today. William Shatner is the only guy who could pull that off properly.

There have been instances where, a micro-managing director can make a performance by an excellent artist seem lacking; such as Natalie Portman or Liam Neeson in Star Wars. What I am talking about is the noticable style many actors use for delivering dialogue today is ... so cookie-cutter similar. Acting in the 1930's demanded rapid line delivery, for example.

Love the new show, awesome action. Producers did know what they were doing recreating a re do show. A lot of risk....but Alex O'Loughlin and Daniel dae Kim are amazing, Grace Park is beautiful. It's too bad Scott Caan overacts so badly he becomes annoying.

@marcus10 It would be more accurate to say that remakes can never be the same as the originals. This does not mean that it can't be as good or even better, but it will be different. I wrestled with the same thinking as you, but I gave it a shot and I've got to tell you it's really good. Different for sure, but damned good nonetheless.

I havent looked any of the episodes, so I cant talk about this speciffic show, but generaly the most of the remakes are just dumb. So I might say we have agreed to the certain point (maybe we will agree for 100% when I look some odf the episodes).
I worked with Scott Caan in American Outlaws 10 years ago - hard to believe. Hot, hot Texas film days. Scott, Colin, Will were great guys - hell the whole damn set - in front of and behind the camera were great. The best thing I ever did for a buck.

Please consider using Sylvain Cloux's version (metal version) which is, seemingly in EVERY possible way, superior to what we're listening to now.... and might I add that it is perhaps just as good as, if not a smidgen better than the 1960's Morton Stevens' original.
As a former kid from the 60's and 70's, i was a little reluctant to watch the new 5.0 show, basically because most t.v. shows today are so bad. And also Hawaii 5.0 was one of my favorites. I have to say that they do a good job with the new one. The scenes are too fast and some are just plain empty but the show is good. Do you think it will be accepted by the samoa community that they have 2 actors of korean heritage playing hawaiians? They was not 1 island girl actress out there?
I like this new version, of course the producers knew they were playing with fire when they decided to re-do a much loved classic TV show instead of creating something new but for the generation that had not grown up on the original it will be a hit. The action scenes are very real looking and exciting, and Alex has such natural charm he owns whatever role he's in, plus he doesn't have to hide his tattoos.

Suprisingly, the show is actually quite good! It is never going to match the original, but it does give a good addition to the legacy of the original series

I enjoyed Daniel Dae Kim in Lost. I don't think Grace Park was in that, but someone else. Anyways, the 4 attractive actors/actresses will make this show great with great director and action-packed scenes. Hope it runs as long as the original.

I was a die hard fan of the original series & was skeptical when I heard it was going to be remade. I watched last night & was pleasantly surprised. It should have been 2 hours to introduce the characters and let the story play out. I'm still trying to process the fact that Kono is a female and Chin's cousin to boot. The chemistry between Steve and Danno is clicking already, and I like the grittier Danno. It's got potential. Better than watching yet another CSI or Law & Order spinoff.
@southport97 People seemed to really like the first episode except a few people that have to judge everything which I'm guessing you did. It wasn't dumb one bit, I'll admit that I thought it was more fun and entertaining than the original was ever.

@marcus10 You make a solid argument what with all the remakes of old shows and movies and such, but I still have to say that standing on its own merits thus far, the new Hawaii Five O is good. It's already become one of my favorite shows. Besides, the way America is going lately, they key to better times seems to be in the past. LOL

I havent looked any of the episodes, so I cant talk about this speciffic show, but generaly the most of the remakes are just dumb. So I might say we have agreed to the certain point (maybe we will agree for 100% when I look some odf the episodes).

I worked with Scott Caan in American Outlaws 10 years ago - hard to believe. Hot, hot Texas film days. Scott, Colin, Will were great guys - hell the whole damn set - in front of and behind the camera were great. The best thing I ever did for a buck.

Is it just me or is Scott rubbing his leg against Alex's? Funny how Daniel and Grace are soo far away from Alex and Scott. If CBS wasn't so lame, they would make Alex and Scott a couple. That would definitely help the ratings! Alex and Scott are smokin' HOT!

He is australian, he uses a different accent on screen, just like Cristian Bale that is welsh, they can shift accent's very well.

I love the show.
Now forgive me for being blunt, but I think the intro music sucks major ass.
Please consider using Sylvain Cloux's version (metal version) which is, seemingly in EVERY possible way, superior to what we're listening to now.... and might I add that it is perhaps just as good as, if not a smidgen better than the 1960's Morton Stevens' original.

As a former kid from the 60's and 70's, i was a little reluctant to watch the new 5.0 show, basically because most t.v. shows today are so bad. And also Hawaii 5.0 was one of my favorites. I have to say that they do a good job with the new one. The scenes are too fast and some are just plain empty but the show is good. Do you think it will be accepted by the samoa community that they have 2 actors of korean heritage playing hawaiians? They was not 1 island girl actress out there?

I like this new version, of course the producers knew they were playing with fire when they decided to re-do a much loved classic TV show instead of creating something new but for the generation that had not grown up on the original it will be a hit. The action scenes are very real looking and exciting, and Alex has such natural charm he owns whatever role he's in, plus he doesn't have to hide his tattoos.

I've watched both episodes of this so far, and I'm liking it. As for the ones with the nasty comments aimed directly at the cast -- I think they're just out for attention. Sad, very sad.

Suprisingly, the show is actually quite good! It is never going to match the original, but it does give a good addition to the legacy of the original series

I absolutely LOVE this show and it's actors! Scott Caan and Alex O'loughlin are an AMAZING team! And Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park are just as epic! XDD

I enjoyed Daniel Dae Kim in Lost. I don't think Grace Park was in that, but someone else. Anyways, the 4 attractive actors/actresses will make this show great with great director and action-packed scenes. Hope it runs as long as the original.

I was a die hard fan of the original series & was skeptical when I heard it was going to be remade. I watched last night & was pleasantly surprised. It should have been 2 hours to introduce the characters and let the story play out. I'm still trying to process the fact that Kono is a female and Chin's cousin to boot. The chemistry between Steve and Danno is clicking already, and I like the grittier Danno. It's got potential. Better than watching yet another CSI or Law & Order spinoff.

@southport97 People seemed to really like the first episode except a few people that have to judge everything which I'm guessing you did. It wasn't dumb one bit, I'll admit that I thought it was more fun and entertaining than the original was ever.

They don't have to be perfect because of course they can't play the characters EXACTLY the same because they are different people. Beach body hype?
