@lnefouse A lot of folks are not aware, that it was Jackie Gleason, who was the impetus behind Wayne Newton's early success. He saw the Newton Bros. in,Las Vegas. at a Lounge where they were appearing and booked them on his show.
@Tony7840 I'll bet that Gleason gave a lot of people their start...by the way, did you ever see a young Frankie Avelon (about 12 yrs old) play his trumpet on Gleason's "honeymooners?"
@ekocentric I sure have. A lttle more trivia; 1. If you check out Johnny Burnette singing "You're Sixteen," (video) on YouTube, you'll notice that the orchestra leader was Bobby Vinton. You'll have to look carefully. 2. Teddy Randazzo gave Tueday Weld, her first screen kiss, in "Rock, Rock, Rock"......
@ekocentric Meant to mention that you can check Teddy out, here, too. Am somewhat biased toward Teddy, as we were friends from 1956 until his death in Nov., 2003. His son, Teddy Jr., and I are in constant contact via, Facebook, telephonically and e-mails. He wrote and produced many of Little Anthony and the Imperials hits, including "Going Out of my Head," "Hurt So Bad," etc. He also wrote the music for the TV show, "The Girl From U.N.C.L.E."
actually, its from the early 1960's per WN but the posting is awesome! Pretty complicated cherography...no wonder they can't do these kinds of shows today...
