I went to Penn State when they won their first national championship. There was/is an unmistakable aura surrounding PSU, and I felt it the first second I stepped on campus, to this very day. Joe Paterno was largely responsible for that aura. Thank You Joe, for what you have meant to me and my father.
I'm a Hoosier and live in LA and this gentleman was brought to my attention way back by my wonderful father.........I will think of Joe and my Dad in the same way..........great men are hard to let go of.......thanks
"Memory... Strange that the mind will forget so much of what only this moment has passed, and yet hold clear and bright the memory of what happened years ago; of men and women long since dead. " - How Green Was My Valley, Coach Paterno's favorite movie.
If you read his speech to the BOT in 1983, you KNOW that he was the heart and soul of this university, and inspired all of us to do more, reach higher, and pursue success with excellence. Humans may pass away, but legend never die. <3 JoePA <3 there aren't many more left with your sense of integrity!
@touchdowntk: pennstatehoops "dot" com/talk/index.php/topic,3087.msg80042.html#msg80042 (remove the spaces and replace "dot" with a period.) I remember when this happened ... it was just after I graduated and we won the first of the two national championships.
Like everyone else I will never forget JoePa. I never met him but I he has always been my hero and inspiration. Ever since I was little I always said I wanted to meet Joe now I'm 18...Tomorrow I am going to his viewing to pay my respect, It will be the first time and the last that I will see JoePa in person..It breaks my heart that it has to be this way. JoePa will always be in my heart he may be gone from this Earth but he's in a better place now
In loving memory and tribute to our Coach as you will be forever missed by the Nittany Lions friends and family! :( Legends NEVER die! You are forever in our hearts! WE ARE...PENN STATE always and forever!
MAY GOD REST YOUR SOUL IN PEACE DEAR FRIEND, YOU ARE GREATLY, AND SADLY MISSED HERE IN OHIO. YOU WILL ALWAYS BE TREASURED AND LOVED JOE PA. YOU ARE WHAT A LEGEND AND A FRIEND IS ALL ABOUT. YOU ARE PENN STATE, AND ALWAYS WILL BE. TRULY, SINCERELY, A FRIEND, REGAN.
Success with Honor...He impacted so many young men. May he be remembered for who he was - a gentleman, an educator, a philanthropist, a coach, a fighter, a mentor and a friend. And may JoePa's ideals live on through all Penn Staters.
@xianizradx 1. He never "tried to cover anything up", he reported everything he knew to his superior who was part of university law enforcement. 2. Get your facts straight before you feel the need to comment negatively on a video made by and made for people who are simply trying to remember a great man who did more with his life than any of us probably ever will. Rest in peace, Joe.
This is a beautiful video. I'm so proud to be a Penn State student and I'm so honored to attend a school that was made into the renown establishment it is today with the help and dedication of Joe Paterno.
"They ask me what I'd like written about me when I'm gone. I hope they write I made Penn State a better place, not just that I was a good football coach." - Joe Paterno
@ematsui12 From a Buckeye fan it is hard to believe he is gone. Sadly him and Tressel were pawns to people who were greedy. So sad that his last moments were caught up in a terrible situation that he handled the right way. R.I.P
I will never forget what JoePa did for my university, nor will I ever forget January 22nd, 2012. Even though I never knew Joe personally, he was always my hero and someone who inspired me. I can only hope to be half the man Joe was.

Why did Jerry Sandusky go to Joe Paternos funeral?
Because he heard there was a chance of showers!
