The music here is wretched. They aren't singing. They're engaged in acrobatics, something that fascinated the period. They also sing in a very high register which makes the nose bleed. All in all, putrid
They weren't the best looking bunch of girls but it didn't matter back then, the talent an voices mattered, and that's why music was the best back then. Now and days its all about looks and not voices, and thats why we have lackluster singers and no variety like in the old days. You wouldn't see singers that look like The Locusts sisters today. Now you have to be attractive and thin if you want to even get started, looks are first, talent/ability is second, thats why entertainment sucks today.

The sisters suddenly make me think of the old ladies in the chorus of Lucy's Operetta, trying to drown out her lousy singing as Queen of the Gypsies. When does Ethel come in as Lilly of the Valley?
