  • Proof you don't need to look pretty to produce pretty music.

  • The music here is wretched. They aren't singing. They're engaged in acrobatics, something that fascinated the period. They also sing in a very high register which makes the nose bleed. All in all, putrid

  • @TheRealBudDickman

Always best to evaluate music from the past in the context of its time - not using current standards to evaluate it.

  • They weren't the best looking bunch of girls but it didn't matter back then, the talent an voices mattered, and that's why music was the best back then. Now and days its all about looks and not voices, and thats why we have lackluster singers and no variety like in the old days. You wouldn't see singers that look like The Locusts sisters today. Now you have to be attractive and thin if you want to even get started, looks are first, talent/ability is second, thats why entertainment sucks today.

  • how fab! First revived in That's Enterainment! III

  • I love music from this time period... I came here after watching a Boswell Sisters video... and.... I don't like it! I don't like it at all! LOL I think that they are afraid to use their diaphragms!

  • @Brandibb

lol I actually like it :p

  • Oh, there, 5....

  • 1...2...3...4.....................?

  • omg i feel wierd

  • The sisters suddenly make me think of the old ladies in the chorus of Lucy's Operetta, trying to drown out her lousy singing as Queen of the Gypsies. When does Ethel come in as Lilly of the Valley?

  • I just saw this short on TCM. The date of the film is 1928. They all look a little long in the tooth.

  • Some people managed to have a good time, even as the world looked so bleak... Humans can be amazing creatures!

  • 既に全員鬼籍ですよね!

  • Ah, don't you just long for the days when there was no autotune? :)

  • That's Entertainment III (1994) on the mgm musicals begins with a short clip of the Locust Sisters.

  • in 2070.. I wonder if YouTube will still exist, and will this video still be here? And will will people still be commenting on it? Gee, thats wierd to think about.

  • @Mr1920s In 2070, Youtube will be streamed directly into your head along with all your Brain-Mail. Of course, before you get to see a particular video, you'll be forced to endure a 30 second commercial for Toyota, which will brag extensively that their brakes now work. Oh, excuse me, I'm getting a Instand Head-Message from my wife. She's telling me to get the hell off the computer and mow the lawn!

  • 1930 and now we have 2009 so many chached...

What will be when we have 2070?

  • Thanks for this! The Locust Sisters are also to be seen on one of the BROADWAY MELODY DVD extras.

  • Great song, big act. Great act. The gowns are gorgeous.

  • actuallly.. I think this was filmed in 1928....

  • Just like something out of Snow White - love it!
