Do you have any obsessions or at least strong interests btw? And how about sensory overload (which I don't have)? I have a few obsessions that I kinda keep going on about to people (but only if I know the people well or trust them) and trying to bring into convos, and my psychologist said on the basis of some of my behaviours I could've been given AS by other psychologists (though I highly doubt they'd have been right).
@RetardedGenius93 Nice! Like what? My friends are always like 'omg not this again' when I bring up accents (good thing I'm living in England too, for that matter). I'd always use to spam this friend of mine with a re-enactment of how I thought Old English sounded too XD But back to NVLD, they said on wrongplanet forums that NVLD obsessions are more asset-based, which my friend said means more related to yourself (kinda the case with me), so is that right about your obsessions too?
@RetardedGenius93 Oh and do you have any classic symptoms like a lack of imaginative play and shared attention in childhood, fleeting eye contact, sensory problems and motor clumsiness? The only thing I had out of those was fleeting eye contact, but I recorded myself playing piano recently and I saw myself rocking back and forth in an autistic way which really caught me off guard :|
@lcnzng I love writing and speaking randomly in French. I've always been one for languages (I do love talking!) - I passed GCSE French and English Language with an A* and an A. When I find myself drawn to something I will think and talk about it non-stop - that includes people as well as hobbies and objects. If there's one thing I don't lack it's most definitely imagination - I've been writing stories and poetry from the age of about ... three or four?
@lcnzng Also, I'm very one-sided in the way that my brain functions - I can only concentrate on things that occupy just one particular side. For example, I can do DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) as that generally focusses on one side of the screen if you're playing by yourself - but things that require me to multi-task - for example, talking to two people at once is something I find difficult and very easily stresses me out.
Even though your psychologist was wrong about aspies having higher performance than verbal IQ, since they've mostly been found to have higher verbal than performance IQ, he was probably right with your diagnosis. I was diagnosed with NVLD just over a month ago and the guy said I got that because I seemed too socially competent compared to an aspie, which you seem to be as well. Also, I read somewhere that NLDers are more lively and open than aspies which you do seem.
The most difficult thing for me with NLD is I am so disorganized. NLD makes me bad at executive functioning and visual-spatial organization so I often lose objects and I have no organizational skills, my room is a mess, my bags were a mess and my desk was messy. I am late all the time and I lose items and have difficulty finding them and I have papers everywhere. People with NLD have poor organizational skills and that is the area that is most difficult for me, I'm always late and disorganized.
The most difficult thing for me with NLD is I so disorganied.
NLD affects the difference from verbal and performance IQ. Performance IQ tests things like visual-spatial skills, fine motor skills and solving puzzles. When I first took the test, my performance IQ was below average (73) so it shows how it plays into real life, I have difficulty with visual-spatial skills and fine motor skills because of the visual processing disorder (NLD). So people with NLD have difficulty with things like tying your shoes, crafts and have messy handwriting and get lost.
NLD affects my visual-spatial skills and fine motor skills the most. I drop objects and spill things, I get lost, I am bad at math, I'm bad at arts and crafts, I have trouble driving and telling left from right, I have bad handwriting and am bad at drawing and using needles, NLD affects my visual processing, I have a bad visual memory and trouble picturing things in my head, I have trouble remembering faces and get disoriented in hallways. My performance IQ was low, so solving puzzles is hard.
NLD is a visual processing disorder where you process visual information incorrectly. People with NLD have a poor visual memory, have deficits in visual perception, fine motor skills, visual-spatial organization, executive function and visual motor integration. I have ADD and NLD. I have bad handwriting, I get lost, I have difficulty driving, I am bad at arts and crafts, I am bad at drawing, I have trouble telling left from right, I get lost in buildings, I drop things, I'm bad at mechanics.
I suppose combined with the ADD your NLD must be very difficult for you. My visual memory can be good, but in specific situations - for example, imagining being in someone else's position - I have trouble empathising.
People tell me I am a good poet and a decent artist, I can tell left from right and tend to find my way around buildings fairly easily, despite always feeling more comfortable in a place I know / with people I know well.
@RetardedGenius93 Ahahaha. I don't have ADD - at least not as far as I'm aware! I was tested for ADHD but it turns out I'm just pretty damn hyper. *cringe*
Finaly i found one with NLD like me haha, i never seen one with NLD before only myself. (=
