What difference does it make weather you are Orthodox or Catholic? There is but one God which is worshiped by all! Forget the earthly differences and focus on the glory of God!!
God Bless the Universal Catholic Church and it's most gorgeous rites!
I'm Roman Catholic, but I went to my first Ukrainian Catholic Church today -- and I loved it! I finally realized and truly loved the true meaning of "Catholic." Whether Tridentine, Byzantine, Dominican, Ambrosian, Benedictine or others -- we all have the same theology and reverence in our Liturgies. We can all find common share in our worship of the same One Sacrifice of Jesus Christ!

Yes, we are orthodox in our worship, and yet also Catholic in our allegiance to Rome...
Sadly, there seems to be more truth to your statement in these modern times. When the unions with Rome came about many centuries ago, there were different circumstances than today. Perhaps one day there will be reunification with the Orthodox....
Perhaps it is becuase of the hope of reunification that keeps the Eastern Catholic Church going, even when faced with adversity.
Although Latins like me are the vast majority, I hold a special place in my heart for my Eastern brethren and do my part to educate other Catholics about the necessity of the Eastern Catholic Churches
Amplidyne: I don't think the Holy Spirit will let the Church be without both of her "lungs" again: it wasn't coincidence that brought many Byzantines back to Rome: it was Providence. Though I, too, desire greatly union with the entire Eastern Orthodox communion, I rest assured that East and West have been reunited: even if most Byzantines havent come back, there are still 10s of millions of Byzantines Coptics Chaldeans, Maronites Malabars Malankaras, etc. as well as Latins who make up the Church
I am an Orthodox and I do wish that the "two" churches would reunite. However we as Orthodox have a certain feeling of seniority and a hereditary distrust of the Pope since the 4th Crusade which helped to destroy the blessed Eastern Roman Empire. It is hard to reconcile when one feels betrayed. That is exactly what happened to us.
That happened a long time ago and I am sure the Pope has a much different attitude towards his eastern Ortohodox brothers. The mistrust was vibrant long ago and on both sides. We have to let that water go under the bridge. If not now, then when?
The problem is attitudes. Yes, many feel betrayed by something that happened 800 years ago when they were'nt alive to be offended. The Crusades aren't a happy point in Catholicism either. Plus, the Pope doesn't do Crusades anymore. Second, there can't be feelings of "seniority", but equality. Besides, it wouldn't be much to put them together. Have you seen Catholic kids at an Orthodox summer camp? I have. It doesn't matter to them since the teachings are the same.
Isn't that why our blessed Lord Jesus said: "Unless you are converted and become like this little child; you cannot enter into the Kingdom of Heaven"!! God grant that there be peace amongst us and particularly those who proclaim Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.
It should be noted that Pope Innocent III excommunicated all involved in the sack of Constantinople. Ever since things got rocky in 1054, a lot of medieval popes tried to warm relationships.
Melkites see ourselves as Orthodox in union with Rome. Our Patriarch just pleaded with the Pope of Rome May 2008 for this cause. The Pope of Rome agreed and gave his blessing and charged the entire Catholic church with this holy work. Attend an average Melkite parish, now almost no Latin influence. No filioque in the creed and the teaching of the 7 Ecumenical councils is used. No latter Roman doctrines are taught, especially here in Atlanta.

We christians should all unite, those of us who follow the bible in the right way (catholics, orthodox, protestant etc) but i am not so sure about my only country (anglican and methodist, England btw) for they have fallen into sinful means of excepting homosexuality which is wrong.
They are orthodox in the sense of using the same Divine Liturgy as the Orthodox. We should not be afraid of being "o"rthodox, likewise the Orthodox should not be afraid being "c"atholic.
@amplidyne The Liturgies are beautiful, for the most part. When you start praying to Mary, this is where I have issues. When you say'Through the prayers of the Mother of God,save us.'or,'through the prayers of the theotokos:let all the earth worship You and sing to You,let it sing Your name,O Most High.'Or'More honorable than the Cherubim and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, who,a virgin, gave birth to God the Word;you, truly the Mother of God,we magnify!'
Old Darling, you are a Copt, for crying out loud: a venerable, eucharistic church, to be sure, but one that is considered non-canonical by the majority of the Orthodox -- read: non-monophysite Churches. Get a read before thou doth protest too much!
Es el catolicismo en su máxima expresión. ¿Por qué tuvieron que separarse las dos Iglesias? Los occidentales nos hemos privado de la belleza de la liturgia oriental.
@ClubPenguinTVZone Yes, they are in communion with Rome. I go to them all the time. They're beautiful.

What is the point of these 'Eastern Catholic' churches being in union with Rome! They are Orthodox in almost everything!
