They say these laser mouses work on any surface, but I don't believe it. My MX 1000 only seems on a smooth plastic surface. Any kind of cloth surface and it jitters all over the place. I'm thinking about getting an MX Revolution. I hope thats works better.
I have the same mouse and it works perfectly on white paper. Mine was hanging up too when I had the receiver in the back of my desktop computer (I have a metal desk). I plugged it into a front USB port and it works great now.
I have the mouse as part of the Wave Pro set. I tried the white paper or black stuff but it still works the same here. I used it even on the bedsheets and other non-smooth textiles - even when the battery was on its last day.
I guess it was bad luck and you just got a defective mouse.
i had my logitech wave pro keyboard bundle with the mx 1100 for about 7 - 8 months and its fine till a few days ago when i have always used a piece of black plastic for the whole time and now my one seems to not respond as good. it jitters when i move it sometimes???
That other one doesn't look like a Microsoft mousie.

I'm now dealing with this same issue- except it hardly works on any surface.

I ended up giving up on the MX1100 and got a Razer Deathadder and haven't looked back.

I finally got my warranty replacement, only took 5 weeks from Logitech. Sloooow but the new mouse works.

Another update, took it back to the shop and got a new mousepad (Razer Goliathus). Seems to be working alright now.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm going to test it on another computer but yeah I think it's a bad one. Warranty here I come...
