@manolojohny74 I don't know about "against" war because as soldiers our primary job is to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic" which is in the oath you take upon enlistment. I do think that soldiers (not all) typically do not enjoy killing, but when it comes down to it, it's our job to defend our country, family, and way of life. People can say I'm brainwashed all they want, but ill fight to defend what I love any day.

This song is my life right now... My husband has been gone for six months to Iraq and has six more left. We miss him very much and love him very much. Everyone should go and sign the petition... Whether you support the current wars in Iraq and Afghanistan or not, you can't deny that the returned soldiers have made a huge sacrifice and deserve a voice. The way the Vietnam veterans were treated should never, ever happen again. This song is neither pro- nor anti-war, and is more powerful for that. It's simply telling the story of a soldier.

If you are to be honorably discharged due to an action no one had control over, say the loss of a limb, your discharged with money, I had a Friend who's bud got shot in the shoulder and came back to the states with 100,000.

My brother has spent 24 months in Iraq and about 5 months ago, his legs were blown off by a terrorist suicide bombing, leaving his entire lower body useless. He couldnt_ get a plane back to the US for 4 months do to medical complications so he had to spend that time in a bull shit Iraqi hospital;
he said in one of his letters, the only thing that kept his heart going were the "pussy ass" letters. He also liked this song.

@manolojohny74 I don't know about "against" war because as soldiers our primary job is to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic" which is in the oath you take upon enlistment. I do think that soldiers (not all) typically do not enjoy killing, but when it comes down to it, it's our job to defend our country, family, and way of life. People can say I'm brainwashed all they want, but ill fight to defend what I love any day.

Whether you support the current wars in Iraq and Afghanistan or not, you can't deny that the returned soldiers have made a huge sacrifice and deserve a voice. The way the Vietnam veterans were treated should never, ever happen again. This song is neither pro- nor anti-war, and is more powerful for that. It's simply telling the story of a soldier.

If you are to be honorably discharged due to an action no one had control over, say the loss of a limb, your discharged with money, I had a Friend who's bud got shot in the shoulder and came back to the states with 100,000.
you only end up homeless by irresponsibly spending money, drinking/drugging yourself out, breaking the morals, or breaking the law (like shooting a civilian afghan for fun).

Ok if what they're giving you not helping you understand, than what will? Everybody needs feedback that they're appreciated, that they're doing a good job. What else do you expect us to do for them? or better yet, what have YOU done to help them?

You don't need to be such a jerk. It helps us to know somebody cares. You know what would help us more... the troops the general requested. Letters, songs, all that stuff... that helps. People like you... you don't help. You don't know what it's like to kill somebody. There's no glory in war. We need some support. It DOES help. What consideration are you able to show besides a "useless song"? It's not like you're covering my ass when I deploy.

hey chucky...sometimes a letter, song, a picture can mean tons in a situation..a distraction from what's going on..no need to get upset over this loser youtubers..he obviously never been in that situation so he can't relate..We signed the comment to go to war when the time calls, all we ask is that we aren't forgotten..letters, songs, reminds us that we aren't...

ok first of all chill out. its a song no need to get worked up, second you should respect what others opinions are and if you are to criticize then do it in a respectful and resonable way. in a way that somebody can actully say ok this is why i dont like this song instead of I HATE THIS SONG and give absolutly no revevnt reason why you do not like it

i don't get how this song is pointless. i have some good friends that will be serving our country and it helps em get through what they think about on a daily basis...missing their family and friends when they leave and leaving everything behind.

let the voice of the soldiers speak if the will. we are not there interpeters or messengers. There are tons of ways to help are troops. this song is rasing awarness of what they go through day to day
