  • not IIII, IV!

  • Who on earth could dislike this??? I'm playing it at the moment in my orchestra and it is the nicest piece we're playing at the moment! We're also playing James MacMillan's "Tryst".....hmmm. I don't think they go.

  • @Cellogirl1000 Play it similtaniously with Beethoven's 5th like what I just did and you will hear a substantial similarity!

  • I find this recording too slow for my liking, I prefer it considerably faster. But it's very well controlled!

  • @Bezla142857 I would love to hear this as fast as it can be done. Ok, maybe fractionally slower than that, but still. Could you link me to a faster rendition please? I have been searching but have not found anything significantly faster.

  • This is one of those pieces which drives me to tears through its beauty.

  • Mendelssohn's music is so refined and elegant..He was to the 19th what Mozart was to the 18th

  • I played this in an orchestra ... it's just sooo great to actually play it. Great fun. Amazing music.

  • So amazing to acutally play, yes. Most times I can't help but play a little air cello when I listen to it.

  • By far the best movement. There's a large gap between the first, say, 15 seconds of the symphony and the beginning of the fourth movement.

  • Morvensky, I agree

  • Agree

  • I think this is the best movement from this whole symphony.
