The reason the first 14 episodes are so crammed is because they had to get the story up to the point where they confront Greed fast.

From there, beginning with episode 15 onwards it completely differs from the old series. So don't worry, the first episodes were not meant to be as good as the 2003 anime, people, they are more of a prelude or recap for old fans and an intro for new ones. It will get better.

Stop being biased runts already. :) Or else I begin posting spoilers to the ending.

@katmannsson I agree Brotherhood is better than the 2003 anime too. The pacing is the one that seems rushed in this series though. By comparison the manga had a slower and more detailed pace. Considering the nature of the first episodes of both series one can tell here they wanted to attract a new audience, for which it would make sense to show this. However there are omitions to the manga material the 2003 anime did not have. In a way the first few episodes rushed a bit.
