Thank you kindly, Nick! I have taken to following your exploits and that of Megan on FaceBook. By the way, Laid Back Jim apprec iates the support you've shown as he begins his career as a CD burner 8<)
Thanks for the kind comment, Brian!. As to my cat I'm not sure if he was just trying to horn in on the video or it was a cry for me to shut up already. One is never sure with cats!
Great song Bill ..I have never heard this one before ..Gotta love Woody Guthrie songs ....Great to hear you doing another tune my friend ..and Hey I love that riff you did at the end of the song *****
Bless your heart, Rob! This song is one of those rare tunes with only a few chords that actually fit into my extremely limited vocal range.
As for that little riff at the end, I did it right at least 10 times BEFORE I turned the damn camera on. Once I decided to record the fingers turned to stone.
Appreciate your listening and the kind words, buddy! Stay well!
Wasn't aware of that. The story I heard about "Peace Call" was that folk singer Eliza Gilkyson was/is friends with Woody's daughter. A few years back the daughter gave Eliza a journal with some of Woody's last writings in it. Among these writings were the lyrics to "Peace Call". Eliza changed them around slightly and out the music to them.
Thanks, buddy! Somewhere here on YT is a live version of this song by Eliza and a group of other musicians which was recorded in Texas at a gathering in tribute to Woody called "Ribbon of Highway - Endless Skyway".
Bill: Thanks for sending me the link, and for the 'shout out!' I think this is such a great song, and the more exposure the better. A someone notes, Woody Guthrie apparently never recorded it. Nice work on this -- it makes me want to go play it again.....
Thanks, Tom! Like the saying goes: "I couldn't have done it without you". I think the simplicity of this song contributes to its greatness. Easy enough to sing and play that anyone's version will sound nice.
Thanks once more for your help and the kind words.
Thanks, Chris. It's always surprising to me when a song by a Woody Guthrie or a Hank Williams surfaces that not many people have heard. I loved this one the first time I heard and I'm real pleased that you enjoyed it too!
That "bugle call of peace" sounds good Bill! A wonderful song and you did a terrific job of singing and playing it! I enjoyed it! Have a great 4th. of July weekend! Peace! ... FrAnK (★★★★★)
Thanks.. Woody would appreciat it. I do.

Ah of course. Those lyrics will stand the test of time. And just think, he wrote most of those songs in isolation with his family on a farm.
Peace be with you.
