I think it's a little overstated. street view is actually useful since I know what a location will look like before I get there.

Also it isn't a live feed and all the people/faces/number plates have been edited out. If you walk around naked in public places you have a good chance of being captured in a shops CCTV feed or something like that. Orwellian? meh...

Google street view is an open public service and it isn't a live feed.

Whilst implemented in a manner more respectful, the idea is dangerous and being able to map out some place before you go there is simply insignificant as a justification compared to the fact that we are being watched. Spying is spying afterall. It is only a matter of time before a live feed is proposed.
