  • Oh! Oh! I know!

The answer was Google Street View!

  • I didnt watch the program did anybody actually get it XD

  • No no no buttplugs

  • Wossy did not seem impressed ,haha

  • Maybe if you didn't put the answer to the question in the title then I might have been a bit more intrigued.

  • @dedokta What? The song isn't funny or entertaining when you know? Seriously, this is from 2009 and how else would you search for this?

  • 1:51 Jonathan Ross = So not falling for that shit again.

  • Listen to it in 1/2 speed. Sounds more like a rap, lol.

  • I'm in love with Tim Minchin, but I think I'm even more in love with Gangsta Tim

  • shane dawson at 0:44

  • The joke made after this is amazing

    JImmy carr:

ross wants your answer to this

    Wossy:

It's Qvc for burglars, more commonly know as google maps

  • I see Wossy thinking "s**t, this is going to be about my wife"....

  • also some germans (ok, it's probably just me, i don't know anyone who doesn't answer who the heck is tim minchin?!) love you and your music :D

  • I would like there to be a CD of all his random songs that are not part of his shows: Donnie Darko, Angry (Feet), and this included. I would certainly buy that!

  • @SamauraiRippeR Angry (Feet) is on the So Live DVD. he did use it in a show

  • Funny that Russell Brand is there when he looks so much like Tim Minchin.

  • AHHH he has a MAS top xD

I saw this on tv but didnt actually notice :L

  • There is a part of me that rebels against Tim in a beanie. If i can't see his hair i feel like it's an imposter.

Either way, beanie or no beanie he's still a fucking genius and i still dig on him. One of the few musicians around who can make me laugh hysterically and cry too.

  • i want zebra print jeans :'(

  • I'd like to know if they got it...

  • @duryduty I Know!!!!

  • @TMJBtv are you agreeing with me? or do you know if they got it or not?

  • @duryduty lol, ive spoken english all my life yet i still manage to fail at it! Im agreeing with ya, i wish i knew. lol.

  • This is probably the best rap song in the world. I guess there wasn't much competition.

  • Simon Pegg with eye make-up at 00:45

  • @SporeGalaEdit thats not simon pegg, fucking idiot.

  • @hatakihitaru Or maybe he/she meant that Tim looked like Simon Pegg with eye make-up there... no need to be rude.

  • @hatakihitaru I like how you call people "fucking idiot" whilst being completely unable to understand what they've written......

  • @hatakihitaru You're the fucking idiot if you misinterpreted what he wrote.

  • this year's big fat quiz of the year was worse than the last couple of years, and I think the lack of Tim this year contributed

  • Comment removed

  • sure.

  • So catchy!

  • so what's the answer?

  • @MorrisonEnterprise google earth/street view

  • @greatfelixo thank you.. I must have forgotten to read the title of the video before I clicked on it

  • (Extra funny if you're a muse fan and hear matt's voice explain 1984 in the comments "the book you know?")

  • Sorry if this is totally naive but what is Tim referring to that happened in 1984? :/

    I <3 Tim ^_^

  • @Natalicious132 The book "1984" by George Orwell.

  • @Natalicious132 It's a book by Orwell. It's about a totalitarian dystopia where everything is monitored (among other things but that's pretty much the point here).

  • @Natalicious132 a book called "1984". its what big brother is based on, with the idea of people being constantly monitored by a higher power

  • Just learned of this guy, seen two or three of the youtube videos of him. How the heck have I not heard of this guy before? He got a laugh outta me, and I'm jaded nowadays.

  • Sound?

  • now I'm curious as to who got the question right. :D

  • @pigfarts100 They all got it right. Kinda. One of the teams said Google Maps instead of Street View. The show is somewhere on Youtube and this bit is usually around part 4

  • @CodeMonkeyGurl :D thnkz

  • Johnathan Ross at 1:49

Still cant forget Tim's song for him on his show.

  • so he's talking about google maps, right?

  • @uiruu Google Maps: Street View

  • I love Tim minchin, ha ha but plugs

  • oh my god i just noticed the little speed changer!!!

  • Ooo a veiw of Tim's bum in tight trousers <3

  • Best goat impression ever. <3 0:49

  • I'm gonna listen close and work this out on my bass xD

  • Tim as a rapper looks alot like S Dezzy/Shane Dawson

  • @crimsonvipor hhaahaha that's what i was thinking :')

  • Tim Minchin marry me XD -3

  • @IArtGod hes married with a kid...

  • @ryanneedhamthe7nth two kids actually

  • fully rotatable 360 degrees...sounds good to me ;)

  • I find the top comment ironic :/

  • It's Wossy! He has 4 poofs and 1 piano... Too bad it's not a "Penta-Poofed-Up-Piano-Posse..." :/

  • @ImUnattractive It's 'penta-poofter-piano-posse' :)

  • @ImUnattractive But, that doesn't sound as right. xD

  • when he has that hat on he looks like Shane Dawson

  • I don't think George Orwell would really think he's here in a fiction... he had enough information when he wrote 1984 to know what to expect from the future of this civilisation. We're already more than halfway into 1984...

  • @Sy3m We've surpassed it, they've just done it slightly more subtley than Orwell predicted and therefore the majority of humanity swallow it all as 'inevitable', 'acceptable' or even 'preferable'!

  • This is doubleplushilarious!

  • Tim's been nominated for the ARIA Award!! Thumbs up for him winning! :)

  • Thumbs up for Georgy Orwell :D

  • No.

    Yes, buttplugs.

  • Yeah Yeah Yeah!

  • I have been watching this so many times and laugh every time xD

  • i fucking love claudia the jewess

  • fuck i wish i had his voice <3

  • Baaaah!

  • so..who answered right?

  • Nice makeup job, though.

  • So fucking funny!

  • guys a friggin genious

  • i think tim would be a brilliant gangster ! *yeah yeah*

  • FYI, the 1984 reference is by the author George Orwell who wrote the book "1984" about the what if's of the spread of communism back before WW2 began. read it, its worth your time.

  • @frilloz4 don't want to be pedantic but it was written in 1949- four years after the end of WW2

  • @GriddledSardines my apologies, you are correct

  • @frilloz4

.... who doesn't know that? it's on like ever high school sylibus ever. I was given the option of reading it for 3 different classes and it was recomended reading for like 2 more. who doesn't know about that novel?

  • @Tamashi88 This *is* Youtube, and judging by the quality of comments on the site in general, I don't think it's that brash an assumption that someone hasn't heard of Orwell's 1984.

  • @ssrc if they live in a box.... but if they do i doubt they'd be watching Tim Minchin.

  • @ssrc Agreed, so far as maybe you are the thought police or judgemental - say, hey whats the diff?

  • @frilloz4 No. Nineteen Eighty-Four is not about the what-if's of the spread of communism. Did you seriously read the book thinking that the system of government Oceania had in place was communism?

  • @CullTheLivingFlower i'm not talking about in context to the story of the book, i'm talking in relative to the second world war and then the vietnam and then the korean and then the "war on terror". Look at the big picture not just the story of the book. Orwell was talking about the world around us not oceania itself.

  • I actually didn't know what the song was ... even though i clicked "Google Street View by Tim Minchin!"

  • Love it when one of the top comments is unintentionally insulting himself

  • @WillReddish I had a feeling that'd happen. >.>

  • @WillReddish Or when other comments intentionally insult top commets who unintentionally insulted themselves cause of jealousness on earlier top comments in hope to become the new top comment?

  • @Warzulg It's a never ending chain, isn't it

  • i hate when the 2 top comments are the same

  • Music is just fantastic. WOw cant stop listening to it :)

  • Real creative top comments, guys.

  • @SuperMegaAss -.-'

  • @IArtGod He's a faggot? Awesome, 3 more and we can have five. I'll bring the pianos

  • @MikeEmery9 Just want to say, I bloody love you for that comeback. You are my hero.

  • @MikeEmery9 still got to out Jamie Cullum

  • @MikeEmery9 then we can have a penta-poofter piano posse

  • @MikeEmery9 FUCK YES. BEST COMMENT EVER. 1000 internet points to you, sir! (:

  • @MikeEmery9 You win the internet sir

  • @MikeEmery9 You absolute legend!! :D

  • @IArtGod This is you insulting me over the internet and expecting me to take you seriously.

  • 1984well... clever portmanteau Mr Minchin!

I wish I could have seen if they got the answer!

  • @paulec252 they did

  • Humor aside, Tim is really talented and his songs are actually very good.

  • @SuperMegaAss Agreed with you

  • @SuperMegaAss I've actually never even seen his comedy..find it really bad, but his music..0mg its addictive

  • @TheSevenStrikes I love both. His humour is really witty and smart, and I love that.

  • @EmoAbiTheOnlyOne Why ist that weird? It's a quiz in the beginning of 2010 about various things that happened in the past year ;-)

  • In Fully Searchable Three Hundred And Sixty Degrees!

  • @tobsson

You obviously haven't seen his shows or seen him live... the musical side is just like Victoria Wood; its not the funniest part of the act, although it is his strong point as he's so talented, its a part that makes him unique, its impressive and still makes people laugh, his stand-up is freaking hilarious. Oh and by the way, when million of people laugh.... that makes him a comedian, plus its comedian*, not comidian :)

  • YOU ARE TRUE GENIOUS TIM!!!

  • no butt plugz :>

  • I don't think he's that funny.

  • @ButterflyRedrum I don't either actually :/ He's not like, hysterical laugh funny.. He's a good muscisian with smart lyrics if I get a say in this.. I respect him as a sing and song writer, not a comidian.

  • No, No Butt Plug!!

  • Anybody else get Tim's t-shirt "MAS" reference? ;D

  • @skunkinjunk I've been trying to think what it is, but no luck.... Enlighten me.

  • @Pacpiano Mildly Amused Smirk - His fan website, which he is pretty involved in tbf, has that instead of "LOL" :)

  • @Pacpiano youtube i recon

  • @Pacpiano google street view..

  • Ok the youtube argument is getting a bit out of hand maybe you should just stop or take it to your channels please. Tim has just written a funny song no need to be so angry.

  • I love his jeans, if anyone knows where i can get a pair like them can you pleas respond

  • is this avril lavigne singing?

  • if i just understand what he is singing i think than i think its a great song

  • @12grubs it's about Google Street View. it's like Google Maps but you can place a man on the map, and you can see the street from any angle with pictures taken on the street by people (and of course, in a picture you might find yourself in one of the circumstances from the song)

  • I'm going to add my comment in here just to break up the argument.....

  • Such a catchy tune! Hahaha

  • I think it's a little overstated. street view is actually useful since I know what a location will look like before I get there.

Also it isn't a live feed and all the people/faces/number plates have been edited out. If you walk around naked in public places you have a good chance of being captured in a shops CCTV feed or something like that. Orwellian? meh...

Google street view is an open public service and it isn't a live feed.

1984 had private CCTV everywhere to spy on people.

    Apple=Broccoli?

  • @RELIGIONmustDIE I think you've in turn overstated your response. The point Tim is making when comparing 1984 and GSV is that, metaphorically, "Green Apple=Apple=Red Apple". Whilst implemented in a manner more respectful, the idea is dangerous and being able to map out some place before you go there is simply insignificant as a justification compared to the fact that we are being watched. Spying is spying afterall. It is only a matter of time before a live feed is proposed.

  • @Omnilegence I think you sound paranoid. Google street view is not a live feed and will never be that way.

The London cctv network is more along the lines of what you are talking about. It's a live feed that the government own and run.

It sounds like you don't know the difference between having live streaming footage from a nation-wide camera network and just running through taking one low resolution snapshot with people and cars blurred out.

  • @RELIGIONmustDIE Come now, let's not resort to precipitous judgements. Firstly I did start my comment by clearly stating that I was arguing Tim's point, not my own. Secondly you need to free your mind of this ridiculous notion that because something is not a live feed doesn't mean it isn't a threat to one's privacy. Personally I care not about privacy, I am not in fact a very ethical being in general, but having satellites staring at you, easily capable of being upgraded to...

  • @Omnilegence a high resolution live feed is perfectly acceptable as an example of needlessly perverse observation. I don't think simply stating that GSV will never go live stands up as a valid point, why won't it go live? Do you know for certain that CIA or MI5 or some other such organisation have not already used it live? I'm not saying it is already this way, I can't even know for certain if it ever will go that way. You cannot deny it easily could however. I understand what CCTV is.

  • @Omnilegence The more you write, the more it is clear you have no understanding of technology. Google is a private business entity. They have no interest in developing a live nation-wide camera system. How could they justify the cost? Governments might do it.

Satellites - even the latest military satellites have major issues with atmospheric distortion with the best weather conditions in low earth orbit. Live satellite feeds for the general public? I hope you are joking. You watch too much tv.

  • @RELIGIONmustDIE I don't even watch TV... This is getting boring. You're clearly more of a troll than you like to think. 1. I didn't mention live feeds for general public. In fact I specifically mentioned the adaptation of this technology for governmental use.

  • @Omnilegence How will GSV go live? You don't even understand how it works. It's not a live system. It's a car with a gps system that takes a picture every x meters and stores it. Why would Google want it to be a live system? GSV works just fine the way it is right now.

If you are worried about live nation-wide cctv surveillance i'd be looking at government.. Things like the 'patriot act' etc.. That is where I'd focus my attention. Why is it called patriot act when it's about taking away freedom?

  • @RELIGIONmustDIE Ok, first off i'm tired of playing polite with you. I understand utterly how GSV operates, it's a matter of 9 fucking cameras on a fucking vehicle. It's a set-up of digital technology that YOU clearly fail to comprehend as, being technology of a digital type, it can be overriden with sophisticated software. Easily. All one would need to do is adapt the photographs so that specific hardware would not 'see' blotted out faces...

  • @RELIGIONmustDIE ...but rather would see crystal clear imagery of peoples faces, the rate at which photographs are taken could be altered, etc etc. Please feel free to stop presuming some sort of expertise in this area, you're clearly a presumptous fellow. Lastly, why do you keep bringing up CCTV? I don't support CCTV, I don't care about freedom and I don't even live in America. The Patriot Act means very little to me.

  • @Omnilegence Crystal clear images of faces, just like you see when you walk down the street. More pictures, MORE STATIONARY PICTURES. Street View doesn't give a 24/7 view of the world, it's a one-moment take, even if you take more pictures, it'll stil be a one-moment, there aren't cameras at which you can for example see someone walking out of an adult store live. That's all he was saying, get a grip.

  • @serpenttao Oh my god fuck off you retarded, sub-human, obtuse motherfucker. I am not arguing that GSV is at the present time anything worse than a nonessential utility. I am not even arguing that invasion of privacy is wrong. My point is with the principle of technology that could be developed or used to invade privacy, and being satellite based could be done without our knowing. Notice the 'could's. I do not see why I am being made out to be some paranoid moron, I don't even care about GSV.

  • @Omnilegence I'm glad you ignored the "Get a grip" part. For someone who doesn't care, you made a shitload of replies. I mean I'm just saying.

  • @serpenttao I never intended to swamp the whole comments section. My participants insist on misinterpreting my comments. I am simply defending that which I said. Tell me why are YOU making comments? Did you not expect me to respond in the manner which I do?

We can carry on or stop, doesn't bother me in the slightest. Also I would like to point out that what I said was "I don't even care about GSV", not "I don't care about half-wits attempting to get away with throwing bullshit my way".

  • @Omnilegence You started about it being dangerous and that live feed will be published. I'm just pointing out that's not going to happen. Calling me half-wit or retarded because of that says more about you than it does about me.

  • @serpenttao Look:

    1) 'Published' is not what I said, 'proposed' is.

    2) I google search "Google street view live feed" and get *h*t*t*p*colon*//searchengineland*dot*com/google-testing-youtube-video-stream-in-street-view-39234.

    3) You forgot to answer my question!, the one asking why you are commenting at all. Looking at your comments I can't see any useful or even new input to the conversation. You summed it up perfectly yourself you're "I mean i'm just saying", just saying and nothing else.

  • @Omnilegence You probably have no idea of the kind of infrastructure needed to build a system with that many cameras all networked. I think everyone would know about it if something like that existed. Since you are in the UK you really should know better. You already have an Orwellian system similar to that so close to home and its not called GSV. So you really should understand the difference.

    Just get a clue... ok!

  • @RELIGIONmustDIE So: Tim Minchin is overstating the threat to privacy of GSV because the convenience of seeing some place at street level in advance to actually going there outweighs the potential for development of this system by any party with sufficient finances to observe any given street at any given time? I believe Tim was overstating the threat to privacy but surely you can see that your argument is weak? You seem to believe that because it would be difficult it won't be done.

  • Ge is regering to the book "1984" writen by george orwell back in 1949. the book is a peice of fiction based on The Oceanian province of Airstrip One. A world of perpetual war, pervasive government surveillance, and incessant public mind control.

The controversial internet service, was google street view. launched back in 2009, it Allowed any person to surf the net and look at anybody's house, with a full 360 dregree. Since then the street view is not updated often, fixing the problem

  • what happened in 1984

  • which was the controversial internet service ?
