Japanese video game developer HOT-B began work on a video game adaptation of Laputa: Castle in The Sky. The final product, released in Japan as a shoot em up, is something very different to the source material. Some similarities with the film can still be seen however, in the game."
Plus the game has airships and the second level looks like Pazu's mining town.
Hey thanks for this, it helped me with the decission of buying the game or not. Getting Empire of Steel and Altered Beast tomorrow (cartridge only but meh...'tis a bargain). Speaking of which, if you do have and enjoy it, maybe you could do a video on that sometimes :)
this is the boss? no, its the Mini-boss. theres a boss and a mini-boss. I completed this game several times, the last mission is terrible, you need millions of bombs. and i sometimes accidentally waasted one at the beginning! EX is the weapon stuff, I is wingmen, money is points, B is bomb.
Simplistic but hectic enough to be good fun. The art direction is great, sound and graphics both carry their weight. It's good stuff.
Perhaps a bit easy but at least it won't have you ripping your hair out.
Tonnes of bosses all of which you can blow little pieces off and make you think about what you're doing. It's nothing new but it does everything right.
the cave mission (when you fly towards the left instead of the right, at hight speed) its best if you have the turbo slomo switch controller, stick in in slomo...
A. K. A. Steel Empire in the USA for the Sega Genesis, Game Boy Advance, and possibly Wii Virtual Console and Koitetsu Teikoku in the Japanese version of the Sega MegaDrive (2) and Game Boy Advance. Still a kick ass game nonetheless.
That's quite a sweet little title, and kind of 1942ish (if only in style rather than gameplay.) I missed out on most Mega Drive shooters back in the day (unless you count Syndicate and an awesome game called "Ranger-X"), and it was only recently that I discovered the Thunderforce games (via emulation, natch ;) ), but it's nice to see a less famous shooter get some coverage. :D
i played this game when i was 5

Strangely enough I don't have a single copy of Altered Beast yet it was the first MD game I ever played.
Lorfarius 2 years ago
That's a must on your list then :). It's the first noticeable arcade remake for the MD afaik. I got it for around 2 euros, good bargain.

the music alone makes this a wicked game. the plane is best for ground enemies as it fires "flak" stuff at the floor

Syndicate was an AMIGA game.

True, but it was ported to the Mega Drive. Like I said, whether it counts is open to opinion. :)
