Came here via John Maus, but the intimacy of this version is turned up to eleven. Really wish I could have heard this version as well while I was staring at the sky and moon in Namibia.
I'm going to (have to) check out Molly Nilsson :-)
You guys are soft. John Maus is a great song writer and his last album was haunting. He's not afraid to make the album he wants to make. His version of this song has so much more depth and his low, baritone voice complements Molly's soft sound. I thought he put so much more weight in his version with her. The original is always great, but there is no swing to it like John's version.
I think everyone should be able to appreciate both versions. The original is much cleaner and soothing while John Maus' version dueting with Molly is much more haunting and reverberated. I love both.
Damn, this was my favorite john maus song so far. Now that I know that he covered this, I know John Maus sucks. The tempo of the lyrics and the synth choice makes the song awesome to me. All of that was copied
@SkaIsDed I agree completely. Heard his album was amazing and checked it out, thought it sucked except for this song. Not surprising to find out he didn't write it since it was the only redeeming quality of the whole album for me.
@ThePandoh As much as I like John Maus's music his cover of this is pointless. Does nothing that this version doesn't. It hardly even deviates from the original. This is far superior.
@gfp33 How is John Maus trying too hard? Molly and John did a collaboration rendition of this song for his new album. Both were involved in the recording...
@coopsta12p When I made that comment I had just finished watching a vid of him doing this tune and it seemed quite forced to me..I did not care for it though I would not say it was horrible, just didn't care for it nearly as much as Molly's..I didn' watch any others and have not listened to much of Mr. Maus..I will def have to pick up the new disc though.
