Not exactly the same at all, except for the fact that both parody Leave It To Beaver. I remember that SCTV bit, and it was funny, but this is hardly a ripoff. The majority of the commercial includes inside references from the Steve & Garry show, imitating "Kup" and Ann Landers.
Also, since this is from WLS FM this was early 80's and might even have been right around the same time as the SCTV bit. Either way it's not really a ripoff, just an old parody of an even older show.
DRRIPCO, the little cartoon guy that comes out and puts the "classic" ribbon on is the same character that was on Bloopers & Practical Jokes show with Dick Clark and Ed McMahon. As I recall they did show different clips of commercials during the show so I would be willing to almost guarantee that that's where this came from. The frightening part is that I remember that having not watched in 25 years. Thanks for all the great clips, Steve Dahl is a radio god!
