The page clearly discussed the collection of data to figure out what works (you know, the "life sustaining programs" part?), not the removal of medicare money, or anything like that.
She is exactly right! And Idiot Jon Stewart read it and couldn't understand it. LOL when a third party (the gov't) gets to decide who gets treatment because the third party is paying for it, they will choose the person who is most beneficial to them, the young taxpayer and not the elderly social security recipiant. Stewart is such a buffoon that he can't see it or, more than likely, doesn't want to.
@rolling126r two things: 1. i guess when insurance companies do it, it's okay then? as long as someone else makes a buck i guess it's okay. 2. there's nothing that was EVER in the law that would let the government make decisions like that. republicans took something that was a bit difficult to decipher and just MADE SHIT UP! glad they were able to get the law passed anyway.
@Direwolf0702 Insurance companies do not decide between who is more worthy to get medical treatment as would happen in a massive gov't triage system based on monetary concerns. Put yourself in the gov't position. You own a farm...two workers need a operaton that costs $500. You only have $600. How do you choose which worker gets the help? You simply see which one benefits you the most - and that would be the younger worker...how can you ppl not see that? now put that on a larger scale
@Direwolf0702 There is one way to make it work - force the doctor to take less. That's works for awhile until the doctor says "screw this! I'm retiing" and the younger doctors look at the situationa and say "screw this! I'm getting a new career!" and then we have a doctor shortage which leads to a medial blackmarket which leads to people paying even higher prices for healthcare ...sounds fucking great!
@rolling126r And clearly YOU didn't understand much either! You, much like many anti-government trolls, think if the government EVER acts as a "third-party" they'll take an extremist viewpoint and deny treatments. When in reality that same decision was the SOLE providence of insurance companies (and still is thanks to idiots like you) who can deny "life-saving procedures" without ANY justification unlike the addendum which required detailed justification for such an action.
@EXRazeBurn When an insurance denies the claim, a person can sue the insurance company and switch to another insurance (and if that insurance company has a habit of denying claims then they won't stay in business very long). Does suing the gov't hurt them? no, they just raise taxes to cover it...but whatever...you go ahead and put your life in the hands of people who really don't give a damn about you. your a fucking tool
Gee, which of these is going to give more of flying f*ck about your continued existence, a government made of elected officials whose status in office (and the subsequent status of the "cushy" government officials oppointed by them) hinge on the votes of Americans, or a group of Corporate entities who ALL rate in the fortune 500 and have over 92 percent (U.S. Dept of Labor) of wrongful death suits against them dropped without initial trials due to lobbyists?
i work in a pharmacy and the pharmacists are required to offer it, but the patient has every right to decline, and the pharmacists do it on the clock during normal business hours. sure it's kind of a pain in the butt to do it to all medicare patients, but it's your job as a medical professional and a duty to your patients who pay your bills. and the people who accept are grateful. people like her assume that all americans want to be naive and ignorant towards their own health.
the 2 sides of america right there, man with intelligence and a blonde thing that has limited intelligence, stewart is a god, it amazes me how this guy don't run for president, he would walk it, if u can elect one of the dumbest people ever then why not someone as clever as this guy, all politics are a mess, no matter the country, its like swimming tru treacle
John Stewart put this stupid bitch in her place...
I would MUCH rather watch my grandmother die gracefully then lose either of my daughters. (And, if money and our DISGUSTING for profit "medical centers" forced me to make a choice, I choose my daughters 100%)
Check out Canada's ban on false and misleading news through the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC). Fight for the passage of such a ban here in the USA!
If i had ONE wish Jon Stewart and Steven Colbert would be the only news sources OFFICIALLY allowed ... that way Fox news could air but their would be no pretense about them being remotely Accurate.
I hope there are more john stewarts then stupid republicans in america so that in 20 000 years, even the very last stupid one has finally gone after a well sustained life ...
@Dtotheworld I'll give you one. The "cuts" are largely geared towards "redundant" options in certain fields such as prostisis. Example: 4 different types of knee joints are on the market, which the government subsidizes to enable their production. If say, an independent panel of non-lobbist doctors points out only two of these are needed, the government drops the other two and they die out. Republicans say not being able to choose those redundantly wasteful options is criminal.
Republicans nowadays seem less and less interested in the truth OR progress so long as their lies and misinformation succeeds in smearing their opponents. The Democrats might be rather unrealistic in terms of long term social beneficiary programs, but at least they can stop acting like children and don their "big people pants" when the economy is emperiled. As this rate, Nov 2012 is Elephant hunting season
