@stenmft21 So what Machinima said it? It's a matter of opinion and taste. I honestly think Silent Hill is more paranormal and genially scary. I love Resident Evil, I really do, but on some level Silent Hill (in my opinion) is more scary. I don't give a damn what horror game "is #1", and again Resident Evil 4 is not a horror game, it is in fact an action game. Sure it has it's scare factors every once in a blue in that game, and it is a lovely game was well but I wouldn't classify that as horror.

@stenmft21 Resident Evil may have set the spark, but it wasn't the first horror game ever. Alone in the Dark, Splatter House, Clock Tower on the SNES, and plenty other horror games on the NES and past SEGA consoles. Unlike Resident Evil, though 4 and 5 may have sucked, it stuck to the horror genre and stayed somewhat true to the first game unlike Resident Evil, I hate 5 so much, I only play it because I'm a hardcore fan of the series as a whole.

I would place this game Number one next to Resident Evil. Silent Hill stays true to the first one (Same monsters no Las Plagas..) Kinda sad to admit that as a RE nerd. Plus the game is much more...Creepier.

@stenmft21 So? Yes it is a survival horror game and after I got over my fear of zombies it wasn't that scary for me anymore, and it is still a beautiful game to play. But with Silent Hill it brings into you in to the setting of insanity and sheer horror. I'm honestly too afraid to listen to the Silent Hill 1 sound track, and the tracks for the rest of the games are pretty scary as well, it adds to the mood of game. Silent Hill places you into the mind of madness and I will admit the monsters

Silent Hill is the definition of paranormal games, everything about the game is pure beauty and I want a game that makes me quiver in fear and not try touching it again, it has done that to me. Just because Resident Evil is ranked number #1 horror game doesn't mean it's scary, sure RE-Make is pretty scary, but Silent Hill stays scary, even if 4 and 5 sucked they stuck to the environment and the monsters. And if they reboot the whole series because it would

@stenmft21 be okay to reboot it, the stories and characters are so separate from each other. But in total, Silent Hill puts you into horror, not just talk about it, Akira Yamoka did a beautiful job with the sound track, and I hope Konami continues this beautiful series.
