@schoolofgaming08 the level with evil sleep was original a chruch in the arcade but due censorship all the religious artwork was cut from the port but someone forgot to take the candles out also the music is chruch song and last part of the song in arcade there is a scream from jen but this also was taken out and in arcade fight there is a axe which is only time in any of the games you see one also it was a cross not a tomb stone that last boss comes out from tell me if this helps

Splatterhouse isn't a survival-horror. It's a horror game, but not a survival horror. A video game genre is defined by his gameplay, and Splatterhouse has a standard beat'em up gameplay. So call it a horror-beat'em up if you want. ;-)

the altar was removed in all the splatterhouse ports. I beleve it was removed for the same reason evil cross was changed to evil sleep and why at the last boss there is a tombstone instead of a cross where the last boss dwells. I hope this was helpful!

Survival Horror is about vulernability and avoiding conflict when possible. Good review though. Not a big fan of the laugh track.
i think, clocktower for the snes is the first real survival horror cause there is your goal to survive and you have no weapons and a insane murderer is chasing you^^

that isnt a survival horror its a scorlling bea em up the first survival horror well the earliest i ever played was sweet home ont he nes in i think that was release is 1987-1989 somewhere in that bracket and that is a true sirvival horror kinda like a rpg aswell there is no dificulty in sirvival in spatterhouse its a fairly simple beat em up at best

i have a sega genesis which would allow me to play splatterhouse 2, however I would kinda like to play them in the proper order. Is the original splatterhouse worth my forking over the 65ish bucks for a turbografx 16? I know there are other games on the system that would make it worth my while, but splatterhouse is the main reason i would have for buying it. Any advice is welcome. Great video and thanks.

Buy the new Splatterhouse on 360 or PS3, It has all 3 original games on it.
And it's the arcade version of Splatterhouse not the crummy (still fun though) watered down port that was on the Turbo.

in the arcade port, when u defeat evil cross you stop at a church alter, but the alter was removed because America is apparently scared of crosses.
