And you say that atheism cannot be proven? Well it is impossible to prove that something does not exist. You cannot prove that unicorns don't exist. You can't prove that there isn't an invisible manbearpig in my backyard. But god has never been proven and has zero evidence which makes atheism very likely to be true. There's reasoning too.

@Elementboy6522 Atheist don't just claim that all theists are making claims they cannot prove (which they are), but atheist also claim that there simply is/are no god(s). This last claim is fundamentally at the same level as the claim theists are making, one they also cannot prove. The only sensible ones in this are the agnostics, who only say both parties are making claims they cannot prove about there being or not being a god.

When you say however, that you don't know that there isn't a god, doesn't this mean you are agnostic? A lot of atheist have pretty firm belief that there isn't one, and just like in most theism: Belief=Knowing for sure.

The Merriam-Webster definition is no different to another dictionary meaning. I looked up "a-" and it means "not or without "! Which doesn't mean its a lack of belief. If atheists believe that there is no god, then that means that atheists made up the god character and said he doesn't exist. It's like if Walt Disney says that micky mouse is fake.

And you say that atheism cannot be proven? Well it is impossible to prove that something does not exist. You cannot prove that unicorns don't exist. You can't prove that there isn't an invisible manbearpig in my backyard. But god has never been proven and has zero evidence which makes atheism very likely to be true. There's reasoning too.

@Elementboy6522 Atheist don't just claim that all theists are making claims they cannot prove (which they are), but atheist also claim that there simply is/are no god(s). This last claim is fundamentally at the same level as the claim theists are making, one they also cannot prove. The only sensible ones in this are the agnostics, who only say both parties are making claims they cannot prove about there being or not being a god.

When you say however, that you don't know that there isn't a god, doesn't this mean you are agnostic? A lot of atheist have pretty firm belief that there isn't one, and just like in most theism: Belief=Knowing for sure.

@sarge958 It seems you don't understand what evidence is. It isn't something that you have to go halfway for. Granted, you need an open mind, but that doesn't mean you can't be skeptical. I won't dismiss ideas at face value until I've given them due consideration. SO shoot.

@sarge958 - If that's the case, then that must mean leprechauns, faeries, The Goddess, and such exist. Can you disprove them? I'm sorry that their books were burned down thousands of years ago by murderers who were bigoted and gave birth to Christianity (which also stole the older religion's customs) but I digress. My point is.. that logic is faulty. And if you're going to believe in entities that are "invisible" you should allow others to believe in their invisible entities as well. XD

@YourDarkAccomplice We do let them believe what they want. Also, the first religions were Islam and Judaism. Judaism gave birth to christianity. No I can't disprove them. Yall can't disprove god either. Either way,we all have our beliefs and I respect them. Nuff said.

@sarge958 - Lol That's basic common sense that "the basic religions were Judaism and Muslims.." well... the basics to Christianity, anyway. That's completely irrelevant for older religions... As for disproving "God," again, that's like disproving Faeries and Goddesses (which, Celtic cultures still hold on to), so why bother? I'd rather religions that are tolerant stick around than religions like Judeo-Christianity and Muslim ones, that teach intolerance and are absolute anti-women/science/human.

Not really. I'm just used to encountering theists preaching nonsense in the Comments sections. I started by jumping in on a conversation you were having--it happens a lot here. But I gotta say, I admire your honesty; it seems to be in short supply among internet theistic commenters in general (in my experience). Shockofgod is a good example of the dishonesty and willful ignorance so widespread among the louder evangelizers. People like that don't know embarrassment. Thanks for being different.

How much deep thought does it take to put somebody to sleep before you go cutting on him? I guess some of us have more sense than others. I, for instance, don't need God's gun to my head to tell me it's not nice to kill people. Go figure.
