  • I tried playing emulators for older games on PC. While the games looked and sounded great. Its just not the same as playing on the original hardware. Clone systems and knock offs are good for someone on a budget and or wants convenience. That's just my opinion.

  • hd tv, get an hd tv, kuz it duznt have the same problems. FUCK why is it soooo hard for people to get it!!!

  • Personally I think the FC Twin is better then the Retro Duo because all of my games show perfect color and sound!!! But thats just my opinion though!

  • sound is 18 bit on nes games

  • The only thing bad aboout retroduo is that the nes sound is horrible at times, but a mod can fix this

  • He says "eminem" at 04:25

  • Im going to buy one.

  • Are all these true? I lost all hope to buy this thing

  • @1musicguitarandanime - This video is old news. Only the oldest models of the FC Twin, which has no Yobo Gameware branding on it, has these issues. Those with no Yobo branding have been discontinued since 2007.

  • I have an FC Twin and A Link to the Past is one of the SNES games I have, but it doesn't have no color disfiguration at the intro. It comes up just fine.

  • @DAMGoodEntertainment yeah same here XD

  • I dont care what the sound is i just care if i can play the games.

  • Damn, the static from the FC Twin kinda sounds like a sick electro beat

  • Verdict: Original hardware (>) FC Twin or Retro Duo.

  • I just got the fx twin with Zelda and there was no sound difference at all. The only thing was when you got close to the ocean, every time it makes that noise it gets a little staticy.

  • I read on wikipedia that the fc twin is not compatible with kirby super star or super mario rpg, is that true?

  • @leppaberry I can play my copy of kirby super star on the fc twin. as for Mario RPG. I can get it to play but it's a little tricky. you have to play a NES game for a few minutes then slowly move the switch to the SNES spot.

  • Emulaters suck, the only way to play Nintendo is with Nintendo

  • Wikipedia said star fox isn't compatible with the FC twin. thank you for proving them wrong :)

  • nice video!

  • I have a new model of FC twin and the sound quality on games are identical to when you play them on the NES .

  • Mario's jump

    NES: BAAREEENG

    FC Twin: BOOUUHH

  • I have an FC Twin and that's not true at all what this video says.

  • ima get one =)

  • i don't know why but i like super mario bros 1 on fc twin :-)

  • NES FTW

SNES fail :(, Good music and graphics but the gameplay is fucking horrible

  • @93bendzsi SNES is cool too imo.

  • @SaturdayFighter Pls tell me a good game on SNES, i would be happy

  • @93bendzsi The legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Chrono Trigger, Super Metroid, Super Mario Bros 1-3, F-Zero, Star Fox, Earthbound, Donkey Kong Country 1-3, Final Fight 1-3, Final Fantasy 2 & 3, Super Mario Kart, Super Mario All-stars, Super Mario RPG, Yoshi's Island, (Ultimate) Mortal Kombat 1-3, Castlevania; Dracula X, Harvest Moon, Home Alone 1 & 2, Lemmings 1 & 2, Earthworm Jim 1 & 2, Ms Pacman, Megaman series, and even the Animaniacs are some good examples of good SNES games ;-)

  • @93bendzsi You've played all 753 SNES games and decided that none of them are good? Zelda? Mario? Home Improvement? (Just kidding), but seriously. SNES is classic, and it's amazing. NES + Better graphics and sound = SNES

But I agree, the NES has a certain classic quality about it that rivals the SNES, even with it's inferior hardware.

  • @RReviews Well the only game i play on the snes is super castlevania 4 :)) its the best

  • Does Super Gameboy work with the FC Twin?

  • @Swampgift Yes, it works well.

  • in my opinion, the fc twin sounds like it has more bass, and i like it better!

  • The NES has only one channel, but a lot clearer. Nice vid. Oh, and one more thing: should I get a Retro Duo or an actual SNES? Because I need something that will run my games smooth, and 100% great.

  • Retro Duo. It plays American games, PAL region games, and Japanese Super Famicom games. It has very few compatibility issues (and mostly all the issues are with PAL games) and it also plays Super Gameboy and Game Genie. The sound effects sound different than the NES in some games (not bad, different) but it usually goes unnoticed.

  • I don't know what's up, but I have an FC Twin and it doesn't sound like that. Everything on this FC Twin sounds squeaky. The FC Twin does have sound differences with the NES, but not like that. At least for me.

  • Ubedoob Daba.

  • The discoloration and subtle sound changes are just too much for me to ignore, the original hardware always wins, and this is no different.

  • @crazyfooInc I agree one hundred percent. Besides, you can pick up the original hardware in working condition for dirt cheap on ebay

  • Weird, there's no sound difference on mine

  • DAMN. FC twin SMB theme sucks.

  • the fc twin is compression the sound to make it louder thats all

  • I´d buy a retro duo instead, emulates snes REALLY good

  • @pocketlucho YEAH,I just ordered one.Retro Duo is the best!

  • @pocketlucho tis not an emulator sir

  • ok well im thinking of which system to buy an NES\SNES or just an FC Twin? because i found all 3 of the systems and they are 60 bucks for each so which one should i buy out of the three??? please reply back i need it before monday 2-22-10

  • the FC version of mario sounds better than the NES maybe even i think.

  • if it has a Yobo jewel on top, it is the newer model. Mine has it and Mario does not sound like the one in this video.

  • who cares if the sound is different...don't just people play the game for the gameplay and funness..not for the damn sound quality.

  • i know rite, it's a fucking nes game

  • I would much rather play starfox on my Super Nintendo than play that on a FC twin piece of crap.

  • I don't know about the FC twin but I know the Retro Duo sounds absolutely terrible on some games. Was hopeing this video showed the inside of a dungeon on Zelda with FC twin. I know inside a dungeon on Retro Duo Zelda 1 sounds terrible. Konami/Ultra games are VERY off usually and A Boy and his Blob is unplayable due to sound/music issues.

  • My understanding is that the sound issues on the NES side of the Retro Duo has to do with the internal wiring. The FC Twin doesn't have this issue.

Supposedly, you could open 'er up and do a little wire work to get the sound to work properly. I wouldn't know how, though.

  • Dude, the FC Twin works just fine. I'm sure some of them come fucked up, which is lame... but I've had mine for awhile and it works great i've never had a problem, or noticed differences with the colors and sounds. You can't beat it for the price anyway... BOTH systems for 35 bucks? That's how much mine was on Amazon... you can't bitch about that... even IF it breaks in a week, it was worth the stupid 35 bucks! BUT, it most likely won't break in a week! Give it a try..

  • I agree, i have an FC Twin and

have been using it since January, 2009

and it still works like new!

and not to mention that i didn't really notice

much of a difference when it came to the quality,

especially with the SNES games which i have plenty

of since i also use a SNES as well as the FC Twin!

so overall, it's a great investment if i ever saw one!

  • Mine was 70 bucks at microplay....

  • damn dude! amazon has loads of them for about 30 dollars. 70 is pushing it... i doubt i would've paid that... hopefully it lasts a while! lol...

  • It's possible that the footage shot was based on an older model of the FC Twin. I ran across a Twin unit which had that kind of sound/picture quality, but the later models had near-perfect NES emulation (which, strangely enough, doesn't exist on the FC3, a 3-in-1 clone released much later.

And yes, I've had mine for over two years now (paid fifty bucks... Canadian) and it works beautifully. Out of all the clones I've collected, it's the one that sees the most use.

  • I had one of these, and didn't have the sound issues. I think yours is broken.

  • Are you useing the same game packs between the NES and FC Twin? If you are, why are the differences in the sound so noticeable? Why are there sound differences at all? Is the FC Twin one of those Famiclone things? I understand there was a unit called the Famicom Twin wich was a Famicom with a built in Famicom Disk System.

  • I still just don't understand why people are so adverse to getting a net-top and running an emulator on it. Is it just because people don't know how to setup the emulators or how to hook a net-top up to a television?

  • @fuzzywzhe There is something about the physically placing the cartridge in the system that does it. Also, there is something about going to a used store and thumbing through the shelves of dusty cartridges and picking one out to buy.

Also, I thumbs upped you just to remove the -1 considering it's a legitimate question.

  • ha the problems are opposite for the two systems

  • I think retroduo is better but this video is before it appeared so...

  • I bought a Retro Duo to play Star Ocean, and my save got erased twice, so I plan to buy a Super Famicom. on the postive side-the system stays cool no matter how long you play it. I know when Xbox 360 started system cooling & Red Ring of Death was a big issue for Microsoft.

  • @pocketlucho I have one and I think the sound is worse than it is on this.

  • Well, I'm trying to decide between this and the Retro Duo.

  • The retro duo will be the best bet.

I have Playmessiah's Gen NEX system, the color pallet is brighter, and the sound pallet sucks. I only bought it cause I accidentally fried the Power supply my original famicom

  • There are also emulators :)

I can play nes/snes on my phone and computer :)

Though the feeling of playing with a real snes controller or nes controller isnt the same its still better then nothing :)

  • and its free hahaha

  • and this is better than that!

  • LOL FC Twin isnt better than that, it has way too many errors.

  • says who? there are a lot of people that are happy with theres... the classic game room is one example... it seems its kinda hit and miss.... but it also seems like the newer videos are more positive about the FC twin...

  • I've heard the FC3 Plus system has some of the best compatibility. I haven't tried the system to compare, however.

  • I'm thinking about getting an FC Twin, but I hear Super Mario Rpg isn't compatible. This alone might break the deal for me. Does anyone have this problem, and if so should I get one anyway?

  • Some copies of Super Mario RPG do work on the FC Twin, RetroDuo and FC3 Plus, but it's a crapshot as to finding one that does work. It's all a question of dumb luck.

  • ya but i thing the retro duo is better

  • i wouldn't buy a clone now.

  • it may be because i no the mario music 2 well ut the fc twin sound actually sounds good

  • my generation nex does the same weird noise thing :(

  • Good thing my FC Twin doesn't do any of this. Even so, try finding an NES that's going to last as long as a semi-new FC Twin will. Before I bought my FC Twin, I went to my local game store and bought FOUR different NES' and none of them worked. All of them needed the pin connector to be replaced. I could have taken the time and money to do it, but why should I when a there's a way to play NES AND SNES games for only $60?

  • That is the question. Easy point of entry with slightly less perfect game performance, or the original at extreme cost and effect?

I'd go with the FC Twin as long as it 1. doesn't ruin the carts, and 2. Remains playable.

Wii Virtual Console does make a strong case for itself though. Most of the time I simply recommend that.

  • Well I've had my FC for probably two years now and I haven't had a single problem with the system itself.

And yeah, Virtual Console is cool but I have a thing where I'd rather be playing the actual cartridge with an actual NES/SNES controller. Maybe it's a nostalgia thing? I don't know. Playing Super Mario Bros. 3 on the Virtual Console just isn't as satisfying as playing the actual cartridge.

  • yeah my FC twin does not sound that different from the nes.....I planned on getting an snes from the flee market and I saw an FC twin and bought that. Ever since I got it it plays well and never freezes

  • omg starfox music is badass this should be on cd

  • meh, the differences are small but they are noticeable.

    :(

  • the only thing that i dont like about fc twin is the price. 60 bucks when you can buy an original nes an snes very under that price.

after all... fc twin is "new" console and nes andsnes you can only have a used one

  • still good

  • Yes, unfortunately.

No fun is to be expected out of those poor excuses for recreational tools.

  • @whammy850 retro duo kicks ass

  • My Snes just died. And my Nintendo probably is not far behind. I need to pick up and F.C. Twin regardless.

  • mines great

  • personally I prefer the classic nes and super NES and SNES.

  • super nes and SNES are the same thing

  • okay, i just got the fc twin, and i don't know what's going on with the video, but that's NOT how it is. a link to the past is reproduced PERFECTLY. there's no white on the triangles and no text smear/blur. super mario bros. keeps the sky blue and doesn't do that purple/blue combo like the fc twin in this video. the sound for mario is also retained, the coins make the same loud PING, the ONLY difference is the music. for some reason the music is like the video, but not the in-game sounds.

  • (cont.) however, i think i know why the fc twin looks like ass in this video, and that's either one of two:

    1) the user is using an old fc twin without the yobo jewel in the back or

    2) the most probable answer-the user is actually playing the games on a high-def or flat screen tv rather than a glass screen normal definition tv.

  • really wouldn't matter what tv he's using. this is going into a cap card.

  • okay, so are you saying it's the cap card that's making the games look like that, or does he have the old version of the fc twin? i'm not trying to defend the fc twin, i understand the system is inferior to an original nintendo, but my games (zelda, mario bros., lttp) look nothing like that and are perfect graphically. it's really not as bad a system as everyone says-well, the old version is terrible...

  • i'm just saying your answer of the user using a high def tv or a old glass tv isn't possible. its going into a cap card and not being filmed in front of a tv.

  • when you play the games it does make a difference though-i personally don't know why because i barely understand how electronics work

  • i have a fc game console was made in 2005.

  • i own the original systems,im not a fan of redubs of old systems,i pefer the classic ones.

  • 1:59 sweet Boomerang shot!

Definitely gonna get a RetroDuo instead of this poece of junk.

  • retroduo uses same audio format. the only differences between the two are that the controller on the retroduo is supposedly better (though still considered rubbish) and it plays more games than the fc.

  • What makes the FC Twin junk? The newer FC Twin systems with the Yobo "Jewel" stuck on the back have better NES audio reproduction than the earlier units.

  • @SuperLuigiSixty4 GREAT CHOICE, im getting one too :)

  • I live in europe and if I use a Nes coaxial for my famicom, the sound doesnt work and theres no music:( Can someon PLEASE help me...?

  • Does anyone know if a FC Twin or the Retro Duo plays all video formats? I have a bunch of UK PAL NES games and I would like to know if these will work.

    thx

  • Nope, I wasted about £30, was really annoying.

  • Looks like the games have been emulated well on this system. Is it really worth the money? I might get one and get my old SNES back from my cousin. Use the FC twin for mainly NES titles since I don't wanna track down an NES.

  • the sound differences u speak of is becouse of different quality hardware, the nes at its first release was $100 and the fc twin is only $40, nintendo used more exspensive hardware and technology in th nes, while the fc twin has lower quality hardware, however there is no video difference, people are just saying there is to defend the nes and snes, and not exepting how far technology has come.

however we can all agree that the computer emulater is garbage.

  • "however we can all agree that the computer emulater is garbage. "

Why would you say that ? Having a real Nes and Snes myself, I am amazed how far emulation has come. It's all part of technology. I remember a time where there was no such thing as console emulation.

  • ...good point, however my only problem with the emulater is that it violates copyright and is ileagel...

and your right emulaters have come a far way. and it is a fine adition to technology.

  • Yeah true. I know what you mean though, having the real thing is something special.

  • yup.

  • Copyright..You have a problem with emulating 20 year old games? They arent even made anymore so who gives a fuck? Btw Nintendo is a BILLION dollar company that couldnt give a shit about you. I say STEAL games as often as you can. But you can Go ahead and spend your allowance on some vc games you high moral fuckin prick.

  • first ur right about nintendo they dont care but if everyone thought like you the world would be in shambles and it is that kind of thinking that has put the economy down, nintendo may be a BILLION dollar company but that does not give you grounds to steal from them. oh and not all emulaters emulate 20 year old games

    there are some gamecube emulaters.

p.s cursing at the end of ur comments does not make u cool retard

  • its not illigeal because your just making a back up of a game you already have ; )

  • actualy you can just download an emulater any time and beacouse you do not have the rights to the game you violate copyright witch IS illegal.

  • the FC twin isnt fucking up the sound....its splitting it up into duel channels for stereo sound.

  • how come my fc twin doesnt do that, lol , i played top gear it worked fine , same for zelda maybe some unit is faulty, but ya get a snes, i would only recomedn this over a nes becase 1 nes has problems running games, you have to keep blowing , this unit doesnt do that so ya unless your lucky and your nes work lol

  • whats with the snare drum on the fc twin?

  • i guess there,s some emulkation issues with the system,but it,s it,s still amezing.

eather i,ve discovered that the colors of the fc twin in nes mode looks more lively then the nes itself, the sound is almost perfect emulated.

in snes mode sounds are almost undistingeble from the snes itself, but the graphics looks a bit blurry with some false colors.

  • It's not an emulator...it's hardware, but there are still some differences because the FC Twin is not as good, there are better ones like the Retro Duo which pretty much is like the real thing because it has accurate hardware.

  • The FC twin changes the tri-force color on the title!

  • This is a little heartbreaking. It's been so long since I played them on the other system I hadn't noticed my FC Twin (sound mainly) was that much different!

Oh well, I still love it!

    Great video!

  • suck it.

    OHHH suck it

  • What would be better: getting a SuperNES or an FC Twin? If I got an FC Twin I would mostly use the SNES part of it anyway.

  • Caranciio, I say you go for the FC Twin. ^^

  • Get a SNES. They're really not that expensive. You can get them for $40 on eBay no problem.

  • yes but if u get it on ebay used for 40 it will not last long becouse it is old, and if you buy an fc twin brand new it is only 40

i dont know about you but i would rather get a new system than an old.

  • You are wrong. Cartridge systems last a very long time. I have an original 2600 from 1977 that still plays like it is brand new - and this is not exceptional by any means. I also have my original NES, now about 20 years, that still works fine, a 7800 that works great, and a Genesis that works great (1989).

What makes you think the SNES won't have a similar lifespan?

If you buy a good condition used SNES, I don't see any reason, provided you take care of it, it won't last 30 years at least.

  • i did not say that cartidge systems do not last long i am saying that a brand new fc twin would last longer than a used nes or snes, plus not everyone takess good care of there consoles and if you order a used nes or snes on ebay there is no way to tell if that person took good care of the system. however a brand new nes or snes would last way longer than a new fc twin, but a brand new nes or snes is over $150 so a brand NEW fc twin will last longer than a USED nes or snes, and that what i say.

  • Well, you said this: "yes but if u get it on ebay used for 40 it will not last long becouse it is old, "

I actually am unconvinced an FC Twin will last longer than the official hardware. Most clones have vastly inferior hardware quality, but I've heard the FC twin is better, so who knows. Either way, it really isn't much of a gamble on a used SNES. The things are tanks and incredibly reliable.

Not to mention you get no glitches, better video, and more accurate sound.

  • ok but in conclusion do u think that a brand NEW i repeat NEW fc twin will last longer than a USED nes or snes?

and you will get no glitches or low video quality on a fc twin only low sound quality.

  • A new FC twin MIGHT last longer than a used front loader (which might be 23 years old). I'd say a typical used SNES, top loader, or AV Famicom will last longer than the FC Twin.

  • well i would say that sums it up, but have you tried the fc twin? it is not as low quality as most nes\snes nock-offs so i would say a brand new fc twin would last longer than a used nes or snes.

  • View 10,000!!!

  • Is the FC Duo worth getting?

  • I was wondering the same since I might be getting this for the holidays since I have cheap ass parents.

  • if u mean the FC twin then yes, i recently got one and its pretty good. the snes is acutually its best feature

  • color seems too bright on the FC...

  • doesnt sound as good either

  • The Retro Duo has much better quality I beleive

  • I think this has something to do with the sound chip used.

  • they fixed all that ith the retro duo

  • Awesome. Thw twin has moe of a twang to it, too... Huh. Neat.

  • i actually liked the sound on the FC twin

  • huwahahaha! I've never actually played starfox on snes niether on FC. but the dubbing is so funny!! hahaha. sorry. no hard feelings.. peace XD

  • The sound for the games on the FC sounds like they're on helium.

  • Having a problem...

My FC Twin seems to not play Paperboy. The game loads properly but the controller seems to do nothing. Anyone else have this problem? I WANT MY PAPERBOY!!!

  • blip627 the fc twin doesnt play certain games check out the fc twin on wikipedia for the list, and unfortunately paperboy is one

  • I don't know why this video is on here. Mine works just like the original system.

  • but dont you put the same game in the fc twin than the nes/snes

  • can someone tell me whats the difference between the newer model and earlier model

  • Newer models with the Yobo logo sound and look almost exactly the same as original hardware on the NES side, but still has compatibility issues with Castlevania III and the like. The Super NES doesn't discolor the sky in StarFox and the Triforce in Zelda A Link to the Past either

  • will super castlevania 4 work on the FC twin? and will super mario all-stars work on the FC twin as well?

  • If you're going to get an FC Twin, get the console that's all black, not cream colored or silver. I have both Super Castlevania 4 & Super Mario All-Stars, and they work perfectly. Keep in mind however, that certain games may not work properly, though.

  • why not cream or silver? why the black one?

  • The cream and silver consoles are earlier models. The sound for the NES games is not as good with the other two consoles. The sounds for the NES games on the all black console sound just like on a regular NES. On the SNES side, like I said before, certain games won't work properly. One example is a rare Japanese import called Rendering Ranger R2. Sometimes the game will freeze up after I beat a stage.

That's really the only problem I have.

  • I thought that the thing to look at to identify a newer version of the console was the yobo plastic icon thing on the back of the console. mine has the yobo icon thing but is grey/whitish and purple colors just like a regular snes.

  • The FC Twin you have was one of the first versions released in 2006. It's not as good compared to the all-black consoles Yobo released later. A video game store around where I live had a few cream/purple button FC Twin consoles for sale, and about 6 months later they were selling the all-black ones. Apparently, they realized the older ones were not as good. If you can get one, spring for it, but remember what I mentioned before about certain games.

  • oh man, I just bought the silver one :/

Is that one a least later than the cream one?

  • Ouch. The FC Twin you have was the second one to be released by Yobo. My stepbrother had one of those. It's better than the cream & purple FC Twin, but not by much. I tried StarFox for the SNES on that one, and like everyone else who has tried this game on the older FC Twin consoles will tell you, the colors were messed up. When I played it on the all-black one, it was perfectly fine, with no problems. If you can, you might want to get the all-black FC Twin console to save yourself the headache.

  • i heard that there is going to be a snes to nes adapter so you can play nes games on fc twin with original nes controllers is dat true

  • also if it is true can you pm me as soon as it comes out so i can buy one

  • fc twin is the original dont listen to people who say the retro duo is ... i looked it up and its just sound difference ... i was playin q bert on it today sounded pretty sexy to me

  • So, which is better? I got mine because I wanted an SNES, but the store I got it from was sold out of them. The worker told me that there is a new system out called the FC Twin which plays both SNES, and NES games. I had a rough time deciding but then, I got the Twin. I also got two games, Super Mario Bros\ Duck Hunt (NES) and Star Fox (SNES). The problem for me is it's harder to put the NES games in, than if you had an NES. Please tell me if I should sell it, or have the NES, SNES and FC Twin.

  • And also the NES would keep the games safer inside of it, and also, it has a cool way of putting in the games in.

  • so overall, its good for a deaf person

  • i love the legend of zelda opening theme i could listen to it all day long

  • should i get an FC twin or an original snes?

  • I think origanal snes is more cool and more retro looking, but if you are on a budget, get the twin, cuz it will do the same thing, just that it's not the real thing.

  • fc twin cuz its cheaper and the same plus a nes wats to lose? omg different sound watever shall u do? dont listen to people from the originality stand point they are dumb :)

  • the sound is important to me, thanks for the video pocketlucho!

  • <
