The Grizzly Years now and love it. I want to find this book and read it too! Thank God these two are working together on behalf of these precious animals
I had the pleasure of meeting doug and andrea peacock last june on a school trip we took to yellowstone. his work is amazing, and his books are wonderful. and if you ever get the chance, if you can find it, look for a video with doug and arnold schwarzenegger! its humorous and entertaining, as well as informative.
The Grizzly Bear! Don't mess with the grizzly bear! A buddy of mine told me of his lifelong friend, a wilderness tour guide in Alaska, losing his life to a grizzly. He says that is why he always carries a .44 Magnum with him. Always! Chicken, Alaska for his post office box.
Doug Peacock understands the bear better than anyone ever has. Read this one and his other book, Grizzly Years, and I guarantee when you put them down your view of the bear will be forever changed. He brings you into wilderness, into his world, with his very personal and gripping stories.
I also recommend "Walking it Off" as a must read by Peacock and his documentary, "Peacocks War" as a must see.
Thanks for your interest. Essential Grizzly should be available from your favorite online or brick and mortar bookseller as well as from many outdoor stores and National Park stores.
You may also be interested in our other bear books: Mark of the Grizzly by Scott McMillion, Bear Attacks by Stephen Herrero, Grizzlies and Grizzled Old Men and Death in the Grizzly Maze by Mike Lipinski, Bear Aware and Where the Grizzly Walks by Bill Schneider, and even a children's book, Growing Up Grizzly.
Great book - as are all of Doug's books.

What we need is a wilderness corridor that runs from the Yukon to Yellowstone. That's what will save the bears and wolves.
