I use the neti pot too, but it seems to go into my eustachian tubes and ears, only a bit. I'm concerned that I would be washing viruses and bacteria into the ears because I still have fluid in them from a cold I had 8 months ago.

I do this a bit differently. My father showed me by using a thing I think you are suppost to use to take juice off a pan of meet or somthing... anyways, you put your head upsidedown over a tub, squeeze the salt and water in with the kitchen item, roll your head, then sneeze out the excess stuff. It may work a little better by getting it all the way into the sinceses (sp)

This one, like all the demos I have checked on YouTube, is not correct. You have to tilt your head so that the water runs into the sinuses. She does not tilt her head enough to really get the water into the sinuses under the eyes and this angle will get nothing at all into the upper sinuses in the forehead. You have to lean WAY over, as close to totally upside down as you can get, and you need to do it several times.

Very good video. I've seen a few of the other ones outlining the Neti's use and they're all about 2 minutes or so in length. I wanted to pass along that what's depicted in those brief videos is only a PORTION of the whole process. This is what's called "Stage 1". The real cleansing is done in Stage 2 where the entire sinus cavity is washed clean. The whole thing takes about 10 minutes. The user can only imagine how how good it feels, and one would be astonished at how much mucous one has.

To keep it from going into your mouth, try leaning over the sink more, with your ear parallel to the floor; and breathe through your mouth. You can do it once or twice a day. The directions on my box say if you have a particular nasal problem you can do it up to four times a day.
