  • un buon inizio....

  • if you take it up to 170 hp let me know

    ill by one

  • @mytaxiarhis

Go to chip yates site in youtube and by one... ;)

  • And then came Kipkay's "INSANE ELECTRIC MOTORCYCLE HACK" video...

  • Hats off to the guys devolping this technology. BRILLIANT!!!!!

  • It's under powered!! Second it's not state of the art electric power and drive train, if it was you would hear the most beautiful whine that would not leave you wanting!!

  • The sound sucks? Seriously? You could just connect a speaker to a audio board and make it sound like a inline 4, or a V12. Saying I'll stick with my gas bike is absurd.. "The saddest aspect of life right now is that science gathers knowledge faster than society gathers wisdom."

  • the chase bike sounds good, you can keep your plugin bike, its whimpy

  • What I really want to know is when this bike will be available in the public market. I want to buy one!

  • Wow awesome, I'm sold

  • His bum from the rear is like a ball. Might be great for catching the chicks attention in the bar but awful aerodynamics on the track.

  • Noriu tokio, tikiuosi serijiniu budu prades leisti

  • it sounds like the gas bike was rideing with his wife, but I love electric stuff , just the way I see it . looks like they are in for a spanking at the tt

  • A car could use very powerful speakers, possibly with own engine partial sound cancellation, to do a similar thing, with sound generated linked to car or engine speed. With sufficiently powerful speakers, one car can simulate the sound of another. Pulse modulation is also one way to solve the problem of an inaudible approaching electric vehicle, however an alternative is a forward facing directional speaker that minimizes sound perpendicular to the road.

  • @NewsTemp lolol, Have you never heard a car going down the road? You do not hear the engine. Its all tyre noise!

  • @NewsTemp uhm you usually do not hear a car approaching from the front anyhow, same as a bike do to the direction of sound by of course the tail pipes. thus why an automobile is louder as it passes. Stooopid worry people are putting on this "lack of sound" crap.

  • The Toyota Prius adds torque pulses to at least one of its two electric motors in order to simulate the feel of ICE gear changes providing reassuring feedback to the driver used to an ICE engine. The bike could then have settings for optimal performance, or for ICE sound simulation. You should also be able to simulate, e.g., a WWII Spitfire, or any sound that you choose, at least to some degree, frequency shifted if desired.

  • ... the designer, probably at the expense of optimal performance, deliberately adds a lower frequency variation to the drive pulses in proportion to, e.g., bike speed (or engine speed with simulated gear changes) it should be possible for the electric bike to create at least some of an ICE sound. Oversizing the electric engine to allow for even more impulsive torque, like an ICE, will allow for greater sound.

  • An ICE generates it's power in kicks or pulses and hence the sound of the engine. An electric motor also tends to generate it's power in pulses due to the use of energy efficient switched mode power controllers, however at much higher frequencies (often at 20+khz in order to make any sound inaudible), and often at only one frequency. If however...

  • The sound is the ICE chase bike, when it idles to slow down and gets close to the E1PC you can barely make out an electric sound.

  • I'm sure the sound we hear in the video has to come from the chase bike, right?

  • if it's electric? why does it sound like gas powered? weird. I expected a smooth quite bike, which I was going to hate, but now...I can't hate.... damn! I want one

  • @dlite922

So what do you think the chase cam was mounted on?

  • @dlite922

You're hearing the Suzuki that's recording the video.

  • @samiieee

LMAO, I'm such an idiot. Because I thought at first, the camera was mounted on the electric bike because I didn't see any other bike.

I love gixxers. I regret selling mine.

  • I want !!!!

  • electric vehicles can be very fast ....i think there is a video somewhere on this site of an electric Humvee smoking a regular one. Granted an Humvee is not that fast on top end but its just a small example.

  • man , this bike is too damn QUIET!

  • wow it held off the suzuki for a whole lap lol. Why is he putting his knee out only slowing him down

  • You put your knee down for stability in the turns. The Suzuki could have lapped that bike several times, it was staying behind it to record the video.

  • i'd rather have the one following

  • C'on it looks pretty cool.

But if you want your bicycle, a moto, scooter or your electric bike works......

    call VALENITO for the test!!!!!!!

  • runs on 9000 AAA's

  • No. It's over 9000.

  • @1badmush .. hehe , maybe a zillion lithium button cells..

  • @1badmush ah... if only it was over 9000

  • how many kwh battery pack?

    LiFePO4?

    thx

  • Damn, thats clever engineering! Lets keep advancing the tech guys!

And to those that reckon the rider wasn't experienced. First read the vid title, then chuck a whole lot of money into a proof of concept only to set a careless rider loose on the track... Post your results for comedic value

  • Get a new test rider - that guy blows.

  • ncie one but I would have pushed it a little further and I am not an advanced rider. Besides I assume you did a dyno test first so should have an idea what it does.

What about the 2nd lap?? did you film that? I would like to see what it can do when properly pushed.

  • Gee, I wonder why they chose him instead of you? Douche.

  • STFU

  • rider didn't look very confortable... the way he takes corners also... didn't touch the ground at all, not sure why he was slowing down so much in them croners, could take them at full speed.

  • This is the first lap and the first time the bike was ever on the track... it would be extremely foolish to push an unproven machine any harder than that.

  • @phlewid Yes. Likely it has unusual handling as well, so the bike and the way to ride it are still being tested.

  • @phlewid your absolutely correct. Know your bike first know the power. Respect it

  • @phlewid your absolutely correct. Know your bike first Respect it.

  • @DragonXDrei

but common, how fun would that have been to actually ride the bike??

  • @DragonXDrei

you don't want to fvck up _the_ prototype.

on second thought, _you_ probably would.

  • @DragonXDrei well the electro cucle just killed everything else in the isle of man race so for a first test a year ago and now this id be very happy

  • @DragonXDrei

Remember its just an electric bike it doesn't have gears so you have to brake hard in corners to slow it down!

  • @DragonXDrei its like... nope, that is all the bike can handle... o well.

glad you're not my testing engineer buddy haha

  • Also...what about engine braking..throttle blipping.

I suspect there are some number of expert-level motorcycle techniques that may not apply with an electric engine and new techniques and dynamics will be developed/adapted.

How will it be to watch a race utterly without engine and exhaust noises? What is it that makes you turn around and stare at a bike when it's coming toward you? Isnt it it's "scream" or "howl" or "growl"...what if it's absent of sound...perhaps tire noise only? Hmm..

  • Beauty of a bike, Some folks say this is the future, if so the aftermarket exhaust business is crapping it's pants right about now...lol.

Seriously tho, part of the current undeniable joy of motorcycling is the mechanical noises and the tingle in your spine delivered by a stirring exhaust note.

Folks like me proclaim that being heard contributes to our safety out there in the streets what will it be to have a motorcycle with the power of a superbike that is utterly silent on these streets?

  • wonder what the range is like.

  • 34+ miles at wide open race pace. that's about half that of a modern sportbike if you think about it, if maybe slightly less.

  • Is PIR Phoenix or Portland?

  • That's Portland International Raceway not Phoenix

  • ELECTRIC RULES !

  • Fantastic. I hope they bring it to production. I may have to switch from a Mission One if they do. I love the hot-swap batteries, and as I understand it, the motor configuration is adjustable from 1 to 3 motors as well. The single gear 130 mph model would be good for me, but I understand they also have a two speed that does 170 mph.

  • Beauty! >:)

  • It's badd ass, I am going to get my boy Travis go take some shots when they win the TTXGP
