  • ESTO NO E S BELCANTO, MÁS PARECE VERISMO....

  • Great, just great. Thank you for posting it !

  • "Some Breathing Mistakes" after singing 3 hrs straight?!

    Get a LIFE ! !!!!!

  • @lovingee1 Dito !

  • @markspc1 Thanks Mark spc1!! I did not post my name above, glad to meet you. Barbara Todres/NY

  • Please someone tell me what is she doing wrong. I want to know!!!

  • I love Anna and her voice, but her voice doesn't fit very well with "Anna Bolena", I think.

  • When I feel blah, I can always listen to Netrebko to make me feel good. It's just probably a mind thing, but it makes me feel good!

  • Well, if there was only one way to do it we would only need one recording of each opera and we would be done. I like that they all do it differently. That's what makes it worth listening.

  • i love this so much ... im gonna attempt to sing it ;)

  • heaven on earth

  • How can she sing like that!? That was perfect!

  • her technique has improved...she sings some wonderfull piani in this opera, but I don't like her runs and she does some beathing mistakes... Neverless, I think this is her best role

  • I kind of miss the high Eb at the end of the Sills recording of this, even though I know Bubbles wasnt ideal for roles of this weight.

  • @skitzo429

sills wasn´t right ??! and you think the Netrbko woman is?

  • @gestas60323 Sills' voice was too small and light for heavier Donizetti roles like Anna Bolena, she later admitted in interviews that she took a decade off of her career by singing roles like this. Netrebko has some problems, namely that shes not a real coloratura, but her voice is the right size

  • @skitzo429

yet despite her "vocal deficiencies" (if you want to call it that) Sills gave a stunning, unforgettable interpretation by using bel canto technique, as intended by the composer. All Netrebko gives us is hype, created by the media. She is not a bel canto singer. A nice voice of average quality is all she has got. Pity that she is now aiming to do to Verdi what she did to Donizetti and Bellini...

  • Criticizing this performance is almost too easy. The clumsy descent around 1:10, the odd scoop at 1:33, etc. But she does have a lovely voice she isn't afraid to use, and her technique *has* improved since her Lucia and Puritani. But - what is she doing in bel canto?? Verdi is as early as she should get.

  • @lamusicahera Where did you hear a sound of a drunken dog ? You must be drinking too much yourself moron.

  • Ugh, that sound I just heard must have been Donizetti turning over in his grave.

  • @kake1959 I wish you could have been maestro Donizetti's counsellor.

  • @spqrmor How do you mean?

  • @kake1959 I mean that you're judgmental and impudant moron fancing yourself like Donizetti's relative or his personal tutor...,so you must be old like mammoth's shit.LOL!

  • @spqrmor Actually I'm in my 40s, but if we're guessing age based on facts stated and manner of speech, we'll

assume you are 10. I don't presume to counsel anyone, let alone Donizetti, but I am quite knowledgeable in regards to bel canto singing and performing practices and I use this in my answers to contradict uninformed and mean spirited attacks. As I've said previously, I have nothing against Netrebko as a singer in other repertoire, however this is poorly done.

  • @kake1959Hey dude, It seems that spirited attacks is your empty end usual weapon against the actress you can't accept in principal due to your narrow-minded preference to another one. It's obvious and clear that you're just judgmental moron fancing yourself an expert of bel canto. Bye!

  • @spqrmor caio, fool!

  • @kake1959 you're right, shes really not right for bel canto roles

  • This is like being taken on a trip to the past. A fashion era that was chic too and very hip.

  • This is astounding!

  • Anna Netrebko has many charms and a stage presence. She is ideal as Mimi, Zerlina, Susanna and Adina. But NOT as Anna Bolena. Yes, I realize she wants to enter the pantheon of great sopranos and be compared to Maria Callas ... but she is woefully inadequate for the role of Anna Bolena. Sloppy technique, frequent screaming, no sense of line, she just is not up to the demands of this role and does a serious disservice to Donizetti. She should be singing Puccini and NOT Bel Canto !!!

  • @KathrynARyder Right on the money! I couldn't have said it better!!

  • @lamusicahera Sorry Sir, but your lecture for the actress reminds me an old anecdote:

" When I was a youngster",copmlained the frustrated father,"I was disciplined by being sent to my room without supper. But my son has his own color TV, cell phone, PC and CD player."

"So what do you do?" asked his friend.

"I send him to MY room!"

  • Her singing is not ideal for Ana. This is my humble opinion. She was great in a recent MET performance and her acting was superb on the same performance.

  • Come sempre stonata,intonazione approssimativa,canto dilettantesco.

    Bellissima donna, bella voce, purtroppo nel finale;

    un disastro artistico.

  • This is just so amazing! Could listen to this over and over!

  • no words to say something about this.....also about singing....perfect....

  • what opera is the picture from at 1:23 please tell me :)

  • @dancingrl5678

all pictures are from Anna Bolena.

  • Comment removed

  • she's unbelievable. shes like a goddess. shes so amazing.

  • This interpretation is much more lively and enjoyable.

  • Beautiful!

  • Where are the High notes at the end... I expect them from a voice like Netrebkos... a big ol honkin voice like Callas can get away without them... but even she did them.

  • Words to describe this complete performance are still waiting to be discovered.

  • @petelovesbevsills

i haven't listened to any live recordings of sills bolena in a while, but from what i know very well from her studio version is that she ornamented the hell out of this cabaletta. it's technically very sound but adds nothing to the role (was she singing anna bolena or olympia?). netrebko is not that type of singer at all. it's personal taste but i can enjoy them both.

  • @asdfopera Beverly Sills is well beyond comparison with Anna Netrebko. I gather by "she ornamented the hell out of this cabaletta" I must translate that into English to mean "she embellished where Donizetti wrote 'cadenza'. 'It' may not have added anything to the role for you :but ,then of course your interpretation of the role doesn't necessarily set the the platinum standard. Beverly was surprisingly enough singing Anna Bolena and not Tales of Hoffman and I only enjoy one singer's version.

  • @petelovesbevsills

well, pete, we all know who you love. ;)

  • @petelovesbevsills yes very true:D

  • @petelovesbevsills i like bubbles too hahaha

  • This is just the beginning for Anna, she did a great job here, but knowing Anna's art, I am sure that she will be even better in time. By the way Anna has received a 20 minutes standing ovation at the premiere. Love you, Anna

  • oh dio mio! ma che è sta roba????

  • Anna sounds magnificent in this Opera, accept it and go on. Technique is great but taking risks at times is exciting to me we are after all human and Opera today at times sounds to perfect musically, we are not perfect robots and a lot of emotion is and has to be left out because we want perfect sounds and notes. Most of you in here know Magda Olivero and we love her because she took risks and remained human at times greater then life itself

Anna today is one of those singers, LOVE her!!!!

  • Netrebko sings it maybe not with technical perfection but with more power and emotion than others and thats why people like her revived opera. Opera was practical dead for 20 years because it was just some technical competiion where as a "normal" guy you cant feel any passion or emotion in their singing. It changed.

    MrRamphis

  • can you post it???

  • love when trebs sings. people actually care, either to support or tear down.

  • buhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh is there the judgement scene???? does she hit the high d???

  • @marylambcarter

she hits it out of the park, and the crowd goes wild.

  • Schrecklich!!!!

  • @oreste61 Warum so ungerecht?

  • @verdiago1 Thank you so much for your commen t ( your german is ok)! kindly greetings from Imogene

  • @21mosti Actually, the cast has been booked... four years ago by Ian Holender, which makes sense given the agendas of Mrs. Netrabko and Garanca.

  • schrecklich....arme Donizetti!

  • amateurish...........

  • @TheMariaBorgia

amateurish is the only word to describe this !

  • clownish and flat

  • clownish

  • "Posso aver fascino, un bel visino, ugola d'oro, morbido crine" cantava Maga Magò...

  • This is a fine example of a lack of proper singing teqnique...

  • Das Orchester .... ein Geräusch, ein Band!

  • I suppose she was still warming up, because I listened to the rest of the broadcast and she sounded steadier and easier in the coloratura than here. However, IMO she succeeded in this difficult role, especially in the lyrical parts, which are a major one in Anna Bolena. Netrebko's phrasing and expressive maturity get better and better every year, and I was surprised at how good her (many) low notes sounded. Anyway, here's a good start, but she got much better later in this night.
