  • Awesome! I love The Beverley Hillbillies.

  • Certain social classes just don't mix.

  • emm...

  • lol fynny

  • Ahhh, they don't make 'em like they used to! Such a welcome relief from all the crap that's on "television" these days. The Hillbillies were so pure and innocent; what you see is what you get. Thanks, Nologorecords; for sharing this old-timer with us here; what a great idea. It really made me laugh when Elly-Mae got to tusselin' with Miss Jane, and then Granny wanted to get in on the scuffle - ha, ha, ha; hee hee!! A great opportunity to escape from the world for a few minutes.

  • Excellent writing in these early eps -- Henning really had a clear conception of the characters and a vision for where he wanted the stories to go. Canny casting as well -- Buddy Epsen's speech to Ellie Mae by way of exposition is a classic. My only Q -- what is the language into which this is being translated? Martian? Dutch? Weird, nonsequitur proper nouns are seeded right through it.

  • What made this show great was the first season that set the tone for the future of the show. The writing was nothing short of unreal. The best line ever in this series was when Mr. Brewster was told they were having possum innereds. When he declines, Jed said "Well, that's ok. Possum innereds are just as good the second time around." Also, when Aunt Pearl states to Jed all the "bad" things about living in the shack before they move to Beverly Hills. Jed says "Yeah, I'd be a damn fool."

  • @taypar11 I used Pearl and Jed's conversation as the basis for a sermon about Heaven once, how we can't imagine what it will be like, when we compare it to what we think is so great here. Good stuff

  • @ukulelemike will it have chocolate rivers and lemonade springs?

Will the animanls have rubber teeth?

    Will it rain?

Whats wrong with this world, you are in heaven now and you have no idea! you are deluded !

  • @tegid699 You think this is Heaven, and you think I'M deluded? Just tell the nice nurse its time for your meds, and let the kind man in the white coat wheel you back to your room, now.

  • @ukulelemike You are funny ! Consider the lilies in the field. You would probably have said that Jesus was deluded if you were around at the time.

This is heaven, there is no other place, no hell either.

Thats what Jesus tried to tell people but 2000 years later people still do not listen.

What is wrong with the world that can not be put right by following Jesus word?

You are waiting for a better life and he said he came to give us LIFE in all its fullness,

  • I bought a DVD, and there was no Flat & Scruggs on it either. :(

  • @spenderofthrones The reason why Flat & Scruggs is not on those DVD's is the excessive royalites of copyright. Thank Bill Clinton and the Republicans back in the late 90s, including Newt Gingrich who was House Speaker they signed the DMCA into law.

  • So sad that the music licensing issues can't have the original music theme played on the public domain releases.
