MDMA was first synthesized, by chance, at a laboratory owned by German pharmaceutical company, Merck, in 1912 - and it existed only as a formula on faded paper until Alexander Shulgin recreated it and presented it to therapists 60 years later. Alcohol causes more problems and kills more people by PERCENTAGE. Because: 1) Alcohol is addicting. MDMA is not. 2) Alcohol is recreational in consumption and effect. MDMA is only recreational in effect. 3) Alcohol impairs rationalization. MDMA does not.

Too much alcohol and you get in a car and kill OTHER PEOPLE.

Please note the video is explaining basic terms, not strict damage to the brain dose per dose. Let me explain , you drop ecstasy on the week ends for 1 month. And then you drink alcohol on the week ends for 1 month. The drug causing more strict brain damage and changes, is 100% positively ecstasy. It would take i'd say 10x as much alcohol abuse to cause the damage ecstasy can. This is coming from a fellow roller who has researched and experienced.

Id like to say this as someone who has tried (and enjoys) both drugs. Whats more dangerous than either "alcohol" or "ecstasy" is the idea that it's fine to take either drug very often and not face significant problems. For instance people don't think drinking alcohol is a big health issue, so they end up drinking A LOT and medium-heavy alcohol users face some serious issues while people who think ecstasy is a potentially more dangerous drug and rarely/never do it and don't have very many issues.

I think both are dangerous when taken in high amounts, taking too much of anything isn't good for you. But obviously more people die and are affected by alcohol because of the simple fact that alcohol is more popular and widely consumed than E. If the same amount of people took ecstasy, I can guarantee that we'd see more people affected by it. It is possible to die from E if you overdose. In fact, it's easier to overdose E than alcohol. But most people who take E don't overdose.

@lBoogie1208 Of course you can overdose on it! You can overdose on any drug including caffeine and alcohol. It's rare though that anyone overdoses on it as it's estimated that you'd need to take a lot of pills to overdose but it's possible nevertheless. It usually results in hyperthermia. But I agree, most people who take or have taken E haven't experienced difficulties and it really isn't the "killer drug" the media would have us to believe. The E here in Dublin is shite my friend got flour! :/

Long term use of ecstasy can cause depression when not using the drug.

It is in fact known to induce a coma if the user takes to much of it .

Also IF it is combined with alcohol it can be lethal.
