Yo this is logi30001 I just wanted to tell you that you play very good for being a young age. I'm 17 and i'm going to start on flute. Hope i'm as good as you! Keep on Playing! ^_^
It's pretty decent; your breath sounds off though. And the accents, too. Work a bit more on dynamics, too, and your tone sounds a bit off tune. In my opinion.
i love your conscious choice of less vibrato in certain places. it is sad that convention asks us to play with so much vibrato all the time. you have solid creative ideas and may be destined for higher things than just an orchestral flutist. you may also find yourself suited as a soloist, chamber musician, movie studio musician, composer, or conductor, in addition to being a flutist. regardless, you are a wonderful musician with your own great ideas. thank you for sharing on youtube!!
Great job Johann. You are very talented! Keep practicing!!! It's excellent that you are trying your own interpretation on the Brahms. You must, however, when auditioning for an orchestra, be prepared to play it slower as well. The panel may ask you to do that. Adding vibrato would be nice because it adds a different color to the sound. Also, spend time on the low register to get a bigger sound without forcing. It is possible!!!! Good luck to you!
this is good advice. as an orchestral musician, your job is to play as the conductor would like, even if it goes against your personal preference. being flexible and able to play (on command) at all varieties and extremes of tempo, dynamics and articulation, is one key of being a great orchestral musician. the fact that you have verbalized how some of your choices are different from convention indicates that you can probably do all these things.
and i think you need more vibrato when you're in the orchestra. but it's great that you have your own opinion about it. i like that. you're a good musician. ;)
