@TheIrishCreamPuff Really well I know enough to know that the M14 was the main battle rifle for the U.S. when the Vietnam war started, till it was replaced with the M16 and the soldiers didnt like it because it was unreliable they called it the "Matel 16" because of the amount of plastic used. Also it was the 1st rifle using the 5.56 Nato round which was controversial because of UN accord. after a few mods thought the M16 was finally accepted. Stick to COD kid

@GeneralG1810 The M14 was semi or full auto. On full auto it was a handful for a 19 year old kid, particularly with the fiberglas stock. The civilian model is the M1A and is semi auto only.
MY WEAPON OF CHOICE FOREVER IS THE M-14M FULL AUTO JUST KEEPS THEIR HEADS DOWN, FULL AUTO IS A PSYCHOSIS, A WASTE OF AMMO, MENTAL DWARFS CHOOSE FULL AUTO, THE EINSTEINS OF COMBAT CHOOSE SEMI AUTO M-14 AND BLOW THEIR GOD DAMNED HEADS OFF, ITS NOT UNUSUAL FOR A MAN WITH A M-14 TO FIRE 20 ROUNDS AND GET 20 CONFIRMED KILLS, I KNOW , I DID IT!
@mjconnollyIII What with Caps.....the point of full auto was to send lead down the fire fight and take many targets out at once,if there were 20 crazy gooks, would you be more likely to kill them with slow semi-auto or full-auto
granted, on full auto you can be more accurate with 5.56, BUT, if you are standing at the wrong side of the barrel of a full auto M14, you don't want to be stick you neck out of the trench... my uncle was in Vietnam, and he sticked to his M14 until he had no choice but to change to M16, he said the effect of the heavy round was totally different when they were suppressing advancing troops, when several M14s started to shoot, everyone took cover.
It rocket science......all you have to do is lean forward.....yep just lean forward a little.....thats it!! Goes to show how many people really dont know how to shoot theses things...:)
take not of how he is leaning in to the rifle this is a great example of how to properly shoot a rifle with high recoil you seldomly ever see this but it works kudos to you for great form!
@Daynknight1001 I wonder how accurate he is though? When the US compared the M16 to the M14 back in the sixites they said full automatic mode of the M14 had unacceptable performance at all distances.
@esh325 it wasnt unacceptable, it was just that the 7.62x51 round it throws out causes too much kick to be fired full automatic... so soldiers only used it on semi auto. Plus, you can carry A LOT more ammuntion with 5.56.
@fms66tank In a US army report, they specifically said the M14 had unacceptable fully automatic performance at all distances. I have the link if you want it.
@Donut117 When all the rounds fired HIT the target, then I would have to consider it a "burst", which is what happened in this case. If it was a general dumpex of rounds down range, then you might be able to call it a "spraying". In the case of the video I posted, this was an aimed "burst".
@cmshoot i was pointing out the humor in referring to this as a burst when its the entire magazine, thats all. the difference does not matter to me at all.
@cmshoot Dude, you were shooting one of the best rifles made.I was never in the Military,I served 32 years at a County Hiway Dept.Rather be shot in the face, than stabbed in the back.Thank you for serving your country, not Donuts like, well you know.Peace, and if not, kill them,Amen.
@Joe11Blue As a Firearms Instructor of over 20 years, I own my own shooting academy, I have yet to see an actual lexicon of official firearms terms that states specifically and unequivocally what a dump and a burst are. A burst to me is X number of rounds fired with a single pull of the trigger, like in this video. It could also be called a dump, since that surely happened. I didn't post the video to argue semantics on the internet. Sit back and enjoy the video for the visual enjoyment it is
I carried an M14 and an M16 I ask why is the M14 not being used in Afghanistan???better range, higher muzzle velocity, rate of fire is good and we are trying to shoot across valleys with the 200 yd .223???..who the hell is running the show over there and they must have their heads up their asses...
@raginroadrunner With the heavier bullet 62gr and the 1in 7 twist you can usually kill your target at 600yds.-with iron sights, optics would give much better precision of course.I had heard the Army was experimenting with a near 90gr bullet and faster twist to make 1,000 yds shots. In spotting for a female junior team, one with a M-14 and the other a AR-15 with heavy rain and changing winds I had to keep remembering when calling out adjustments that the 5.56 needed twice the windage of the 7.62
Yes. The TRW model ran more rounds without failure than any other mfgr. even Winchester, according to govmnt. records. I have an M1A with all match mods. I shoot in Nra High-Power matches. I shot a 90 round match years ago wearing a Marine issue range shirt with little padding. I didn't hurt while shooting, but I got the bruise without full auto. Cheek weld, stock pulled back, important!
THANK YOU! Finally a real shooter blasting the myth generated by arm-chair "shooters" that M14 is uncontrollable in full auto! You have a very enviable rifle, sir. You just scared the shit out of a bunch of blathering liberals! I'm gonna watch it again!
@Hammered001 Enviable for more reasons than one... you don't see real TRW rifles very often! They're excellent rifles, and if you know what you're doing with 'em, they're completely controllable in full auto. That said, they kick like a mule on steroids in FA, so prepare for some grade A soreness the morning after a 20 round burst (also, the checkered steel buttplate tends to leave a rather interesting bruise, which can be interesting to explain to the wife lol).
@astar334 Well you have to give the AK47 credit, it was a great weapon for its time and is very sturdy. M14 was developed after the M1 Garand and was put into service in 1959... The 47 was put into service in 1947, so the M14 was made later with better technology and whatnot. They are two different weapons as well, meant for different things. The 47 is shorter and has a smaller round
nah its just the original design when it was first made thats all. All the new ones are only semi cuz its hard to control. I been in the Army for three years now and I have never even seen an original one though man, just the semi only for the designated marksman
@MrGhostTheGod92 lol....thats not a mod...thats how the m14 was modified and used in vietnam. dont pester about u thinking how guns shoot in call of duty..
@consair3 it used to when it was first put in the field. the soliders in vietnam thought the full auto was a waste because they couldnt handle it. this guy is a pro at shooting it. but those young kids fresh out of boot camp couldnt do what he just did. the round the M14 fires and the way the gun is made makes it way to much to handle on full auto. it turned into a snipers rifle because the military realized the gun could shoot well over 300 yards.
@billieguitar yep thats actually one of the reasons they made it a sniper version because if its range. the army realized that standard infantry regularly engages targets from 100 - 300 yrds out on the field. (CQB combat distances dosent apply to battle rifles) so thats why they decided to hand the guns over to the snipers because the soliders didnt need a rifle that can shoot that far.
i live in florida and i want to own one of these. do i need some permit or something ?cuz i dont think they are going to sell u an m1A like it's some toy. anyone please ?
@GTwerdak Most military ppl I know never use automatic for anything unless they are carrying a SAW or other bigger weapons of the like. You only get so many rounds when you go into a battle so ammo conservation and only shooting what you can hit is everything. If most have to shoot faster they will merely press the triggr quicker but still stay semi auto. M14 or other rifles, same rule applies.
@shkotay Yeah we were always trained controlled pair center mass, i just cant imagine trying to aim with that fully auto M14, still an amazing rifle though and on semi its extremely accurate, and i agree you can dump a magazine in an M4 on semi as fast as you can pull back that trigger thirty times
@GTwerdak Breaking my new M1A in as soon as i find a suitable gravel pit to stick some targetsin at the end of it :D Semi auto is all i'd be able to handle anyways. Auto like this would have me on my ass in a sec lol!
But yep, I cant see the reason for a full auto burst uless you got 10 bad guys 10 feet away from you in a nice little group. My friends in the Army do just like you say, they can semi auto fire nearly as fast as a auto burst.
@MyMUSICLOVER21 Pratice makes perfect.but try to find a recoil buffer tough, but one question,Why would you want to go full auto with a battle rifle?semi is key to succes
And try and find a Tritiium sight,it helps at night :D
@MyMUSICLOVER21 Changing muzzle brake can help. Search this video title here in youtube "Compare M14 With M16" this will explain why the m14 is hard to control in full auto. That is why companies are offering new stocks like the EBR.
Even if he did control it, it looks like he's try real hard to fight the recoil. Not to mention the weapons excessive rate of fire, he emptied it in seconds.
thats a magazine dump not a burst...

More important than "Dump or burst" is the ability to control a 14
during full-auto !
It was a skill unattainable for the average Soldier, even with
the various pistol-grip & fold-down fore-grips experimented
with at the time !
Either way it's still a Superb Weapon as its Sniper-Worthy
attributes have been proven in Trashganistan !

poor M14, never got a chance to prove itself...
SKITTL3Z37 1 year ago
Shooting this rifle in full automatic mode is useless. You couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.

@hardware199 Apparently you have never fired the M14.

Awesome, dont know if there is much practical use for the full auto on that rifle but still awesome
GTwerdak 1 year ago
@GTwerdak Most military ppl I know never use automatic for anything unless they are carrying a SAW or other bigger weapons of the like. You only get so many rounds when you go into a battle so ammo conservation and only shooting what you can hit is everything. If most have to shoot faster they will merely press the triggr quicker but still stay semi auto. M14 or other rifles, same rule applies.
shkotay 1 year ago
@shkotay Yeah we were always trained controlled pair center mass, i just cant imagine trying to aim with that fully auto M14, still an amazing rifle though and on semi its extremely accurate, and i agree you can dump a magazine in an M4 on semi as fast as you can pull back that trigger thirty times
GTwerdak 1 year ago
@GTwerdak Breaking my new M1A in as soon as i find a suitable gravel pit to stick some targetsin at the end of it :D Semi auto is all i'd be able to handle anyways. Auto like this would have me on my ass in a sec lol!
But yep, I cant see the reason for a full auto burst uless you got 10 bad guys 10 feet away from you in a nice little group. My friends in the Army do just like you say, they can semi auto fire nearly as fast as a auto burst.

bitchy automatic M14 = 0
hardy shooter = 1

amazing...sometimes i burst my m14 rifle with 20rounds burst..cant control it..:( ..what should i do how to contol it??
MyMUSICLOVER21 1 year ago
@MyMUSICLOVER21 Pratice makes perfect.but try to find a recoil buffer tough, but one question,Why would you want to go full auto with a battle rifle?semi is key to succes
And try and find a Tritiium sight,it helps at night :D
shino9797 1 year ago
@MyMUSICLOVER21 Changing muzzle brake can help. Search this video title here in youtube "Compare M14 With M16" this will explain why the m14 is hard to control in full auto. That is why companies are offering new stocks like the EBR.

wow ive never seen that gun fire soooo fast
deadlyassasin55 1 year ago
Can you get the M1A using this caliber or is it just .308?
Shonziquav 1 year ago
Even if he did control it, it looks like he's try real hard to fight the recoil. Not to mention the weapons excessive rate of fire, he emptied it in seconds.
