  • Brilliant. Brilliant. Just bloody brilliant.

  • Idon't think this is a song of agony...I think this is a song saying that as bad as things get, I still have her and I will run to her

  • "All the towers of ivory are crumbling

And the swallows have sharpened their beaks

This is the time of our great undoing

This is the time that I'll come running

    Straight to you

    For I am captured

    Straight to you

    For I am captured

    One more time"

  • @Snowyseasons i agree. beautiful song of agony..

  • which hero? Goofy?

  • @GanjaGun u r very very poor!! goofy......ma vaffanculo!!

  • afieromeno...

  • you know you're in love when you feel like this song..

  • @boiledhooker Samee

  • Only 75 thousand viewers....WHY, i love this @ 16 and love it now!!

  • @boiledhooker i want it played at my funeral.

  • just watched the Josh Groban version. FAIL.

  • best song of the bad seeds for me..and i love how nick looks young and charming in this video

  • Whoa, what's up with the Cave/Groban fight? Can't people just enjoy the version they prefer, without being attacked? Personally I love both versions, because even though it is the same song, they're so different I don't wanna compare them. But applause to Nick Cave, for writing such a beautiful song.

  • @KikiAC Good point i remember being critized for liking the Ryan Adams version of Wonderwall, despite liking the origibal too. That too was a different take on the song, and you couldn't compare it. What ever you think of Grobin , it takes a lot to cover a classic song like he did. I won't offer my opinion on my feelings of the version as it's not relevant.

  • Four imbeciles need to go straight to hell (they’re probably J. Groban fans)

  • @ruben1million I am a Josh Groban and like both versions. :) Calm down.

  • @ruben1million dont send them to hell for fucks sake, i read some dat tibetan book of the dead i pretty sure i in the hellish dimensions , i know Yashua/Jesus say the kingdom of god is within so must be kigdom of hell, anyway i just about coping with these demons and shadows but i sure cant be doing with no ppl around dat dont like nick cave....

  • Josh Groban’s version made me run straight to the N.Cave’s original version.

  • Lovely.

  • can we all shut up about Josh Groban whoever he is.

Much better to appreciate this version.

  • The look on Blixa's face @ 2:40 foretold Josh Groban's cover. He knew what was coming.

  • how did josh groban find this?

  • @fballeagles15 the real question is how was he ever allowed to get authorization to rape and kill this beautiful song.

  • I love the moment at 2:39 when Nick sings "And the sky will throw thunder-bolts and sparks" and Blixa looks like: "How on earth does he come up with this shit?"

  • I love the moment at 2:40 when Nick sings "And the sky will throw thunder-bolts and sparks" and Blixa looks like: "How on earth does he come up with this shit?"

  • I love Josh Groban, but his version of this song sucked. This original version right here has much more musical quality to it. Groban's version was so depressing it made me want to cut myself.

  • one of their best. hendy's dream is an awesome album.

  • fookin wordster legend

  • best of mainstream cave!

still dark, still beautiful, still intense as love should be...

the other version will be forgotten soon, till the commercials...

  • Favourite song of all the time - bypasses all the small talk.gets nature,love,death/injustice,independence,freedom and the open road out in a few chords.Maybe I just lived a little.Beautiful.Love it.

  • @eislean

He recorded a version of this because his producer told him to. He hosted never mind the buzzcocks for an episode and he came off as a pretentious ass who mothers and grandmothers love.

  • Their most humorous video

  • @redxross

What about Stagger Lee ? Tight pink Take That t-shirts and very uncomfortable dancing. Brilliant.

  • I heard this song for the first time on Josh Groban's new album and I finally got around to looking up the original version of this song- well let's say I wasted seven months NOT listening to Nick Cave... great song and great band.

  • he looks like a white monkey...relly the way he's crouched over all the time..

  • @eislean I was thinking of having black frosting on the cake. That way when it's time to take pictures everyone has blue teeth.

  • Blimey - all this talk of Josh Groban on a Cave vid, never even heard Groban sing though he seems like a nice enough bloke.

I have always loved this vid - that Nick hates it is predictable enough, I know someone who used to work at his record company and he said that he is a miserable bastard! So no surprises there!

  • I went and looked up Josh Groban and couldn't find his cover of this song. He struck me as a total tool, wandering around high-fiving his crowd. Reminds me of that douche Tom Jones or Barry Manilow; very smarmy, harking back to the days when lounge lizard was an insult.

I cannot say he isn't talented however, your Josh Groban, as his face and attitude made me want to wretch so hard that I was forced to come back and wash it out with a dose of Nick Cave's sincerity.

  • @gothdeer

I watched that Groban cunt host one of my favourite shows, I wanted to find him and just end his existence. He is biblical in his awfulness, as a person.

  • @gothdeer Welcome back

  • @LoveThroughSong No this the original is better. Groban jus has a nice clean pop voice so you like it more. I think the opposite. However "ugly" Caves voice might be to you I just think his voice has personality whereas Groban; he sounds like a classically trained robot. He can hit all the right notes but lacks feeling and true depth....to show/hear that emotion, can't duplicate that...to each their own I suppose

  • @modernlover0rosalyn Well, to me, it sounds like Cave just doesn't sing it in the style the lyrics were intended for. That's just me, I guess.

  • Cave wrote the lyrics.

  • @LoveThroughSong Eh well it sounds to me like a matter of taste where we obviously differ greatly. Groban's stuff is like elevator music to me, Cave's music is exciting, even the ballads but its his voice and personalty he brings to it that makes it stand out, not about singing it perfectly (his voice is great btw)... but thats just my lil ol' opinion.

  • @modernlover0rosalyn Actually I like both versions. I really like Josh's voice, it's incredible, and it is unique. But this is also a great version, I like the instrumentals in it! I just feel more passion in Josh's voice. He isn't just pop imo.

  • after the first dancer ends her dance nick comes rushing again to the mic. where was he? =P sipping some whiskey i bet, judging by the way he moves in this video

  • Incredible! Magnificent! Nick Cave!!

  • Masterpiece!

  • i would say that this is my favorite nick cave song, but then i would listen to another one, and it would be my favorite till listened to yet another song

  • I love Blixa's dancing in this vid.

  • who is this josh groban cunt people keep mentioning?

  • @tupelooo He's a guy that old women who have 20+ cats and a gigantic collection of beanie babies listen too.

  • @tupelooo He's version of the song is worth praising, though I understand it may have its haters. It's makes of this song a Tim Burton OST piece.

  • @tupelooo Just a guy who sold 27 milllion of albuns.

  • <3

  • sweet!

  • Nick looks like a disney hero gone bad, very bad.

  • @Stockhauz his voice always reminds me of the Beast from Beauty & The Beast =]

  • @Stockhauz lolololol

  • okay sure! lol

  • @XnovemberrisingX i love it! if possible it makes nick cave even KEWLER

  • Absolutely one of my all time favorite songs!

  • These fucking Sony Adverts aren't on. Can't fucking escape Sony FFS. I hate fucking adverts, especially fucking Sony adverts. What happened to youtube being a place to upload home videos. It's now fucking Sony conditioning shite and Murdoch propaganda shite.. any media that reaches the massed and the fucking corporations are on to it like shite because of it's power to influence YOU.. real shame.

  • guitarist at 2:37--ha ha. frickin insubordination

  • i just knew it would have a belly dancer in it!! aw, YEAH!

  • @linz121791

there is a billion josh groban's in the world. and another thing, josh could never write this if he tried for a million years.

  • @TheEvilelvis89 Do you even know who Josh Groban is? I'm strictly talking voice here. I said Nick's lyrics were poetic. But Josh's voice sounds better. That's all.

  • @linz121791

yeah, I know who josh groban is. but I'm just saying nick cave's music is just more real to me. groban doesn't really "feel" the song he just sings it perfectly and it feels cold to me all the time. but whatever, it's my opinion.

  • @TheEvilelvis89 Ehh difference of opinions. Nothing wrong with that. I still love this song.

  • @TheEvilelvis89 you're kidding right??..If anyone would feel a song it would JOsh Groban!!..have you ever seen the guy sing???.

  • @Orbster25

nope, his music sounds way too cheesy to enjoy for me.

  • @TheEvilelvis89 Fair enough :)

  • @TheEvilelvis89 I agree. Polished doesn't always mean better. Josh has tremendous control over his voice, but Nick brings the character that this and every one of his songs needs. Nick Cave is one of the greatest song writers. If you haven't yet, check out the Grinderman stuff. The "Heathen Child" video is strange and hilarious.

  • @heyhey33345

    Go away groupie.

  • @TheEvilelvis89 oh man that's not the same thing. Josh groban is emphatic and pathetic, josh groban is for dumb abd simple women. So I su ppose you're at lesat a lonesome woman waiting for the man to come...???

  • @ffiicchhee

You're replying to the wrong person. I'm the one who said Nick Cave is better. I don't like Groban one bit...

  • @linz121791 I agree with you linz!

  • I came here because of Josh, also. It's interesting to see where this song came from. Strange performance, as some have pointed out. It is a great song, though, in it's own way. Glad someone saw that it had potential to be something else.

  • Josh Groban covered this song on his album "Illuminations".

  • How can this be such an awesome song and such a horrible video at the same time. Only Nick Cave....

  • @KellyBKitten You have to be joking?! Sometimes i think this is the best music video.

  • @KellyBKitten I get a kick out of their videos. I heard Nick in an interview once stating that they don't like making videos. I find them pretty entertaining for guys that don't like making them. Shows that they don't take themselves too seriously. Wonderful music.

  • @KellyBKitten Nick hates this video! He wanted to make a regular performance video but director Anton Corbijn wanted to do a more narrative one, so basically they went with neither and ended up with this...

  • amazing song

  • INTENSE POETRY, AND BEAUTIFUL MUSIC

  • You have to accept this video for what it was at the time. Nick was still very young and he'd written such a mature song. I love the bit where Blix shakes his head in disbelievement at the boss.

  • can never get enough of nick cave and his music !!

  • wow are they lip sinkin or what??

  • @bakersfieldmusicnow

Well yeah, it's the album version.

  • I love the video...it's supposed to be shallow and cringe making !!! but Nick Cave cannot be anything but deep and present..the most deeply shallow kinda beautiful drunken care free shit that still leaves a mark..so coool....so sexy and amazing if you care to feel the depth behind the curtains!!

  • @felicityknickerhead

Bargeld sure seems to be cringing at 2:40.

  • @ColonelEphraim

You should watch Andy Summers and Robert Fripp's video for their song "I advanced masked" I swear the two of them look like they want to just go home.

  • When listening to this, I just... try to ignore the video. My god, it's painful to watch, humorously painful.

  • i just love this song...

  • the song is great, but the video is failed! they were too much "involved", and i laught a lot, each time i see that video!

  • Apparently, they were so smashed they had no idea what was going on.

  • @verobin1 I'm sure they laughed while making it :)

  • nick is amazing.

  • It's a great song.
