Whoa, what's up with the Cave/Groban fight? Can't people just enjoy the version they prefer, without being attacked? Personally I love both versions, because even though it is the same song, they're so different I don't wanna compare them. But applause to Nick Cave, for writing such a beautiful song.
@KikiAC Good point i remember being critized for liking the Ryan Adams version of Wonderwall, despite liking the origibal too. That too was a different take on the song, and you couldn't compare it. What ever you think of Grobin , it takes a lot to cover a classic song like he did. I won't offer my opinion on my feelings of the version as it's not relevant.
@ruben1million dont send them to hell for fucks sake, i read some dat tibetan book of the dead i pretty sure i in the hellish dimensions , i know Yashua/Jesus say the kingdom of god is within so must be kigdom of hell, anyway i just about coping with these demons and shadows but i sure cant be doing with no ppl around dat dont like nick cave....
I love the moment at 2:39 when Nick sings "And the sky will throw thunder-bolts and sparks" and Blixa looks like: "How on earth does he come up with this shit?"
I love the moment at 2:40 when Nick sings "And the sky will throw thunder-bolts and sparks" and Blixa looks like: "How on earth does he come up with this shit?"
I love Josh Groban, but his version of this song sucked. This original version right here has much more musical quality to it. Groban's version was so depressing it made me want to cut myself.
Favourite song of all the time - bypasses all the small talk.gets nature,love,death/injustice,independence,freedom and the open road out in a few chords.Maybe I just lived a little.Beautiful.Love it.
He recorded a version of this because his producer told him to. He hosted never mind the buzzcocks for an episode and he came off as a pretentious ass who mothers and grandmothers love.
I heard this song for the first time on Josh Groban's new album and I finally got around to looking up the original version of this song- well let's say I wasted seven months NOT listening to Nick Cave... great song and great band.
Blimey - all this talk of Josh Groban on a Cave vid, never even heard Groban sing though he seems like a nice enough bloke.
I have always loved this vid - that Nick hates it is predictable enough, I know someone who used to work at his record company and he said that he is a miserable bastard! So no surprises there!
I went and looked up Josh Groban and couldn't find his cover of this song. He struck me as a total tool, wandering around high-fiving his crowd. Reminds me of that douche Tom Jones or Barry Manilow; very smarmy, harking back to the days when lounge lizard was an insult.
I cannot say he isn't talented however, your Josh Groban, as his face and attitude made me want to wretch so hard that I was forced to come back and wash it out with a dose of Nick Cave's sincerity.
I watched that Groban cunt host one of my favourite shows, I wanted to find him and just end his existence. He is biblical in his awfulness, as a person.

I'm sorry, but I cannot stand this song. Josh Groban does this song infaniely times better than this. I had listen to this and the music and the singing is horrible. I absolutely dispise his voice and the music the band makes. I cannot stop listening to Josh Groban's version, it is so beautiful and passionate. This is just ugly. Josh Groban all the way! Josh Groban should be famous for this song and not him! Nick should thank Josh for making this song amazing!
@LoveThroughSong No this the original is better. Groban jus has a nice clean pop voice so you like it more. I think the opposite. However "ugly" Caves voice might be to you I just think his voice has personality whereas Groban; he sounds like a classically trained robot. He can hit all the right notes but lacks feeling and true depth....to show/hear that emotion, can't duplicate that...to each their own I suppose
@LoveThroughSong Eh well it sounds to me like a matter of taste where we obviously differ greatly. Groban's stuff is like elevator music to me, Cave's music is exciting, even the ballads but its his voice and personalty he brings to it that makes it stand out, not about singing it perfectly (his voice is great btw)... but thats just my lil ol' opinion.
@modernlover0rosalyn Actually I like both versions. I really like Josh's voice, it's incredible, and it is unique. But this is also a great version, I like the instrumentals in it! I just feel more passion in Josh's voice. He isn't just pop imo.
