i want to learn the ways of using a double sword it sounds cheesey but can someone msg me some tips on how to use it this sounds dumb but i got a sword today thats why im asking
@dipmychips if you mean a double sword as in a blade on the bottom and top of the hilt. You could use it in the same manner as a staff, with a bit of modification as your grip will have to always remain in the middle. If you mean DUAL one in each hand swords, you'll need train your body to be able to use a weapon in each hand after you get used to using a single sword. Miyamoto Musashi invented dual sword wielding.
@codyaiskool practice swing slowly with breath and do it a lot after a wile it will be light as a feather. (I used a heavy wood dummy sword and then took the real steel sword form musashi and it was light as hell)
@wolffoxtodd In fact if your using a European Longsword (style from c.1400-1600) then it should balanced perfectly and it becomes just a wrist twitch. A rapier would work about the same.
you don't need to be doing anything with a decorative sword, most likely the blade with break off and hurt someone, best advice is not to even touch a metal blade until you have some experience on ya, stick with bokkens
Im 13 and i didnt even learn how to do that and i dont know how to use a sword and i can still do that i learned myself how to do it i do that erally fast in 0.5 sec hehe
This is real. It really works. I once didn't think so until I decided to finally break away from my stubborn hard-headed European-style simplicity and held a katana and practiced with it. Totally, totally different. That type of sword requires wrist. Now you couldn't do that with a broadsword (without having it slapped out real easy), but it might work. The only problem is that the swinging can be timed.
It looks a nice trick but there is a moment when the guy opens his palm during spining, and this means a great risk of disarming which in swordmanship means fatal end
I hope this is just a drill to make one more aware of the weapon not a fight trick
this is true I noticed that also. Great skills but never - never - release the grip on the weapon, even and especially during transitions. Because when you miss the cut that's exactly when you're being attacked.
With your athletiscism and love of JSA/MA why dont you put that into a 'real'sword art like
nami ryu or nakamura ryu - what your doing is the same as baton twirling in a jazz band . Honestly I am sorry for disrespecting your video but its obvious to me that you could have a real apttitude for the sword once you stop all this anime' nonesense
If you knew what gymnastics was, then you would not have posted that comment. Thanks for your 'constructive' and completelt incorrect criticism. And thanks budweiserftw.

actually, it is intensely more difficult on weapons with no curvature. more strenuous on the wrist.

@wolffoxtodd I actually find this a lot easier with a straight blade; the balance is just more suited for single hand use

kokotenks 2 years ago 3
DO NOT TRY IT, a decorative sword is made to look nice, the blade will break off and that will do some damage to something or someone.

It isn't a difficult trick even if you come from no background. The Sai's will help because you'll be more confident and not afraid.

nice for show and all, but in combat you'll see your katana flying, when an opponent sees you do that. basicly, you ask for getting disarmed
even a noob in swordfighting could counterattck that trick.
maybe sign up for Iaido, or Kendo
Duirward 3 years ago
Sure i'll be disharmed fast....but he do that for showing off and that's all....no offense
