Is it Wolfman because you walk around on the ball of your feet like the old wolfman movies? I don't get the barefoot philosophy but to each his own and nice vid regardless!
This is a GREAT video, Wolfmaan. I love it. I noted that you are also a barefoot hiker. Me too. Your commentary is EXCELLENT, and the music is fabulous to build suspense. You just did an all around 5* job. :) :) Thank you; I REALLY enjoyed this. Fabulous!!!!
I am not trying to b a jerk but i am pretty sure that you could have walked down that hill... i am not sure that rappelling was necessary... also your hands were very close to saftey 8... that is super dangerous cuz a finger could get caught and broken... again not trying to offend you in any way. I am just pointing out what I noticed.
@TribeClothing I live in that area and have been down there many times. That section definitely requires ropes to climb down. I'm more curious as to why he didn't use the pre-existing ropes that are already there to climb though ;) I also can't say I've ever needed a harness to do it.
@BivouacBradley If you wish to trust your life to others ropes, that is fine. Read the local papers and see how many people need to get rescued from Decew each year because the existing ropes break. I chose to bring my own rope and gear.
@wolfmaan If you follow the river down past Lower Decew Falls there are several spots you can climb up without ropes quite easily. A little inconvenient compared to rappelling down near the upper falls but I've done it several times. It's only when someone twists an ankle, cuts their foot on glass or slips on ice when rescue forces get called in, at least in all the news articles I have read. But no need to get up in arms, I enjoyed the video as always. Keep up the good work :)
Good shot of you and the waterfall in the bg. Good to finally to have someone else with you shooting your report. Buy some waterproof boots! I was afraid you'd get punctured by an old nail in that nasty still water. Happened to me. Tetanus shots are no fun...
"Don't venture into these tunnels unless you have the proper training and equipment?" 9:05 How you going to tell people that, when your walking around with no shoes? It's okay for you to do something not safe? You must be Superman and live by a different set of rules.
He looks like a hobbit.

Very cool video, looks like a great place to explore.
It did occur to me that proper footwear might be added for this adventure, but all in all very well done.

I think it's very cool that you go into these places barefoot. Obviously the nay-sayers who post here don't have the training, LOL!
rebmaa 6 months ago
By "proper training" did you mean walking barefoot in an abandoned tunnel?
because I wouldn't recommend it either

@EconomicResponse I thought the same thing. There could be glass, nails, peices of rusty metal etc.
