  • good example why touch screens are currently garbage.

  • WIne is getting wayy better now

  • Is SC fully functional under wine? This Terran needs to know.

  • Can you do this with SC2?

  • @brunocaladoribeiro Any game.. the pc thinks it's a mouse...

  • get someone who knows how to play

  • That's noob. Telling them to gather? I'll stick with the mouse and hot keys.

  • @TubesteakNikka Lack of right click or shift really is the limitation on this (no queued commands) If they could get around this it looks like it could be awesome though

  • why not on mobile phones?

  • linux is shit

  • And @gunshotbill is even MORE shit.

  • @jknvv13 lol -.-

  • now do mutalisk micro

  • That's the way to play it

  • Pro

  • amazing

  • This video was actually shot with an RED camera to show what the Koreans do in slow motion.

  • @IIIB52 bahahahaha

  • Ferra porque não da para clicar com o botão direito lol

  • why did not angry german kid not use linux, YAY! i now! Cus linux SUCK THE ASS OF Macintosh while linux runs on ram!

Thumb up if you use and like Windows(xp,vista and 7)

  • @tryytr12321 You need better grammer/spelling >.>

  • @MrApplseed sorry for my bad english. I live in norway, and there we speak norwegian and learn english at school. sorry

  • @MrApplseed Ty. i will try to do so..

  • Looks cool, but I would be too afraid that I would damage the monitor at some point lol.

  • Touch screen+mouse + keyboard=IMBA

  • Now this is cool. VERY cool.

  • i use my tablet for playing starcraft, i still use hotkeys tho and im using a stylus instead of my fingers, i find it easier to right click than using the menu

  • now we want to see you do this on starcraft 2 :D

  • Damn, this is some 1337 h@x0r shit, it's like you're really commanding a futuristic army lol

  • I've never wanted to learn linux as much as I do now.

  • @PieEater1492 Lmo there is nothing to learn really, don't listen to enemy propaganda xD It's just as "hard" as Windows for a total win-stranger :P Not everything that works on win works on linux so it's even easier xD And safer too! Not many people bother to make linux viruses :) Though there are some :P Well linux can be hard if you can't read. And that happens a lot lol.

  • Love it..

  • wut? starcraft 1?

  • @fr3d420 wut? six years ago?

  • im jealous of technology next thing u no it they make a floating computure right below your had

  • Happy peinguin

  • u know.. somehow i just find this fuking AWESOME.. cus its starcraft :D

  • THIS VS IDRA

  • Where is the wine?

  • @14031993 wine is a program which allows linux users to play games.

  • @14031993 wine is a program which allows linux users to run windows applications.

  • I love it !!

  • i get it, the funny part is to run a windows program on a linux computer you use a program called wine XD

  • one hand on keybord and one on screen might acctually work. but only with multitouch and a fast refresh rate on screen

  • What is that wonderfull bavkground music ?

  • You know the ipad can run windows 95 and theroredicaly play Starcraft on it

  • Ok, that's just wrong... if you're getting ass kicked, you'll hit the monitor isntead of keyboard and throw it... now there you go... loose 2000 $ xD

  • Sooo cool. This just makes me want a touch screen even more.

  • Wow, the future of RTS, atleast for casual plays

  • lol wow this was made 4 years ago holy shit very badass ;]

  • I wonder, how did you run Starcraft on linux. I have Ubuntu and it worked but so slowly I was unable to play.

  • @Chmielok - I ran it about 4 years ago on Ubuntu, and played through the entire thing on my old machine. Try WineHQ - their AppDB might be of some use.

  • lol haha you see korean expert players practice their mouth clicks, and then there is him...

  • ugh, too.. much.. energy... to play... a game of starcraft *passes out*

  • COOL.........................

  • @erik32465

Far from COOL after 20 minutes...

  • @BlackTigerAP well, the thing is, he's still using a standard desktop. Once he gets himself a head start using the touchscreen, he could go and use a mouse/keyboard like everyone else. You dont need to be using the touchscreen the entire time.

  • this is how the korean pros play!

  • i prefer a mouse and keyboard its kind of a hassle that way i got to used to mouse and keyboard XD

  • Whether this is for gameplay or for show, it's frigging rad!

do something for SC2 like this!

  • Now combine with Say2Play or other voice recognition/command program for the win!!!

  • @Arleek2 More like for the Lin. Heh

  • people thinking this is "nothing special" clearly don't know how to play SC correctly. Using a large touch screen in a good position would provide great improvements to the game because of good precision and speed of movement. Screen would need multitouch of course to be able to incorporate the biggest amount of useful commands with a few gestures!

anyways this is really awesome, great build.

  • @gravufo I dont think you have played SC, if thats the case, all the pro's hot key everything (micro), the use of touch screen would cost to much time and limited amount of accuracy, Thats why touch screens arnt used for games like this.

  • @FunkyXTurd obviously i played the game, and i am well aware of hotkeys...they are extremely useful. Perhaps I didn't express myself right... what I meant was that a MULTI touch screen combined with a new SC interface made for it would provide better game experience as well as (maybe) better gameplay...for example you could create custom buttons to replace your old hotkeys...clicking on them would be as fast, if not faster than doing a keyboard combination...

    Hope it's clearer xD

  • Forget that, with a big enough screen a touch screen control for sc could provide advantages

  • dude,that is sick...

  • based off of your specs i hope i can play sc1 on my laptop too!

    specs:

    ubuntu, 500mb ram, 1.4ghz pm

  • agree, you can play but BAD!

  • looks like fun, but i'd miss my group commands. :)

  • Nothing special. I still prefer me keyboard and mouse.

  • Anyone happen to know the name of the song used in this video?

  • Actually a touch screan setup for SC would be pretty nice to use.

  • All this with 1.8mhz..... wow. ;)

  • i had this idea with a 16" touch screen and a 500$ dell laptop and that looks pimp

  • its a video played on fullscreen and not a touchscreen game

  • could this work on debian?

  • must be so fun against pc.. but at multiplayer.. no chance ;)

but the idea itself is awesome

  • Playing like GOD !

    Hell yeah

  • now, just bcause he is slow with the touch screen dosnt mean it IS slow for gaming, remeber that you've hav around 20 years to learn the mouse, you could properly laern to play just as fast on a touch screen, and about durabilty, that can be fixed. :)

  • jee, nice..

  • It's a touch screen. And it's not that good for the application it was demonstrated on. It's not really an engineering masterpiece. But I suppose it shows that you can have a touch screen on linux.

  • great micro there. sperating the drones for gathering. you're a pro xD

  • perfect

  • APM=10 not good for sc

  • how do you right click

  • if a progamer like jaedong or flash tried playing like this they would probably need a new monitor everyday.

  • @Thesink05 Haha, so true.

  • WAT

    This = AWESOME

  • Is the soundtrack from.... ROSE online or something? think i recognice it, even though it's like 5-6 years since i played it lol.

  • really nice ^^

  • rather cute

  • That. Is fucking awesome.

  • SOO COOL!

  • looks good plays bad

  • oh wow, that's at least 10 apm!

  • @sythax yeah u'r right.. but the interesting thing isn't how fast the apms are but the fact the the guy succed to make it run un a machin wich usually is not suitable for the game..

  • whats the song?

  • It's not really a boost in technology if the old way is faster.

I'm just saying. Just because it's new doesn't mean it's better. Try playing SC without keybinds and a single-button mouse. Yea, good luck with that.

  • it's not the same with a single button mouse.

just look at his hands he is using both of them and moving them much faster than he would a mouse

  • lol its the best rts of all times ....

  • mouse/keybord is faster...

and yes, we still play this GAME

    Korean Proleague rules ;)

  • Right now it is yah, but if a tabletop system ever came along that had really fast reponse time for touchscreens and multifinger support + multifinger shortcuts (3 fingers in a certain location on the screen = location shortcut or something) I could see if being fun for recreational use.

  • Right now it is yah, but if a tabletop system ever came along that had really fast reponse time for touchscreens and multifinger support + multifinger shortcuts (3 fingers in a certain location on the screen = location shortcut or something) I could see if being fun for recreational use. Or even better... audio support. (saying location 1, or group 1) would work. I know Cambridge created one for WCIII.

  • I don't know about being faster but problem is that you block your sight a little because of your own hands!

  • @freeman444 not anymore cause SC2 is out ^^

  • people still play this game XD

  • this makes the game so much harder but it'd probably be so much funner xD

  • GNU/Linux Rules.

    I love GNU/Linux and I use it.

It's just a matter of time that wine will become needless, because companies will start to write programs mainly for GNU/Linux.

  • dude, i'll bunker rush your ass in 2 minutes and you'll be begging for my marine's dick.

  • @kimeric94 Wow you're an idiot.

  • @kimeric94 ROFLLLLL UR SUCH A MONKEY

  • it doesn't save any time or impress me at all =/

What a waste of time =/

  • that is ballin i hate touch screen but i wish i had it when i played starcraft

  • I can only see one thing: That screen will be a bitch to clean, especially after playing a game while eating cheese doodles.

  • lol going for an early extractor? prob should go for at least a pool

  • it would be easier when touch screens use fingerprint sensors so u can now use right clicks... so if u use ur middle finger the respond will be a right click and index finger for left click!!

  • WTF O___O

  • People hating on this miss the entire point.

It was built for the sake of building it, not for a competitive platform to be played upon.

Engineering for the sake of engineering.

5/5 awesome keep up the good work

  • @ldoug9 Well it's nothing new really. this is running on a linux system using a simple touchscreen monitor. Linux allows you to do things like this since it's opensource unlike Windows were you may not be able to as easily.

  • Oh. My. GOD!

    That is incredibly sweet.

  • try 200 apm with this, the screen would break xDDD

  • @LulzCC Like a huge hole on the screen for tapping it while microing XD

  • what a gimmick. playing with a keyboard and mouse is better in every way.

  • lol cant right click

  • Its like a mac except you dont pay 2 grand for it

  • now that's why move command button exist

  • @dawidkiller

no1 use the move button thats y they utilise right click to replace it...

  • Mac users?

  • trust me...u dun play this kind of game with one button....well u can play n get own if u want...

  • well but i just say that that version 'o' game exists.

If u don't believe me search warez. But do it just for finding out about it. Don't download, you will get caught ;).

  • thats the best comment i ever read in youtube xD iam serious xD

  • @dawidkiller i'd give you at least fifteen thumbs up if i could. don't get me wrong. i love the video and the screen seems pretty responsive. but that was a perfect remark.

  • X11not XGL!

  • try beating a Korean like that xD

  • no es muy recomendable

  • あ・・・、ありえん・・・。

  • Unplayable like that!

  • i played like this in korea. except that i had a "mini-glove" for left and right click. i had ~190 apm, and my regular apm is 120

  • omg thats exactly what ive been looking for for the last 2 hours!! please could you give me any information on where i could get a "mini-glove"? website, brand name, anything? =s

  • i've googled all sorts of stuff ofcourse and can't find anything like a glove. i searched mouse click finger pads, mouse click glove, touch screen right click, all that typa stuff and cant find anything so if anyone could link me to anything they know about i'd appreciate it alot thanks :D

  • it's korea only

technology is not compatible anywhere else

  • =/ aw wow that sucks for me >:(

    well tnx tho -.-

  • It reminds me of the controll of warcraft 1 !!! hahah really funny stuff ;D

  • 44 APM. LOL

  • LOL!!!

Poor you! Must be hard navigating everything!

  • i tryed this, but when i go to use the touch screen it said i needed to construct additional pylons =(

  • hmm it's interesting. i think it is quite perspective principle :) if there would be a strong almost lying display and some possibility to use rightclick (may be some special thimble), it could be quite fast and conveniently to play with 10 fingers.

  • cool... i think it would be cool if the touch screen supported "right click" by holding two fingers...

  • too slow... and i think that u can break your screen when u play hard lol. nice video!!!

  • i think u will break your screen when playing on bnet, lol

  • If there was a touchscreen that let you right click and left click (Via some sort of glove, Idk) it would own so bad.

  • Sad that you don't know about multi-touch.

  • Touchscreens are good, in combination with Linux are better, playing starcraft on them looks awsome and is certainly an interesting feeling, even tough that it's quite slow.

  • rather play mouse.

  • he lose, you cant play fast enough to win with that.

  • i disagree, if you could get a right as well as a left click differentiation and a keyboard which shouldn't be difficult. it would be faster than a mouse, or at least it would be faster to learn than with a mouse

  • now do AOK!!!!!lol

  • LOOOOOL COOL i want one too!!!

  • that is NEAT!!!

I wonder what it would be like to play fps games with touchscreen =P

  • @BigBadJoodoo impossible. due to how fps games handle the mouse to calculate the camera direction.

  • that is just cool.... future of RTS games right here! BOOM!

  • haha, thats a great idea

  • that was fucking, shit.

  • you can't set hotkey by the way. anyway i think mouse and keyboard are useful than touching the screen

  • starcraft+touch screen+multi-command=priceless

  • its like your God and your commanding your zerglings
