I like the natural sound of this video as well. Any ideas which bird song one hears, esp. during the first half part? Thank you for sharing and Thank you for any reply.
I was out practicing with my air rifle one day and an Osprey decided to make a meal out of my yorkshire terrier. I live in behind a river and during November they are occasionally out by the river bank. The Osprey was perched up in a tree above my dogs kennel. It was there for about 5 minutes. I decided to take the shot in fear up it snatching up one of my 5 lb. dogs. I realize this is against the law, but I had to do it. Put a 14.3 grain .22 caliber pellet in its head at 750 FPS.
(sorry for double-post:) I enjoy very much your detailed info on the Osprey; The Red-wingers had often hovered over my head if I was at or near their nesting grounds: and so, together with your observations, I began keeping watch as to what ID of the birds chasing Crows, eg: and it has always(as in my Video response to you) been the 'Reds!'
I love your vid(s):So I made this(Description:)Red-winged blackbirds are adept at informing other species of their territorial claims... First as to an American Crow; then also to a Great Blue Heron. Initially a Killdeer shorebird is likewise 'informed' by a female Goosander who is looking out for her ducklings.
Dude this Osprey wasnt even trying to fly compared to what ive seen here where I live.Haha that Blackbird was asking to die, cause ive basically seen a Osprey take on a eagle and made it fly away. But still sweet vid
an animal that kills for food isnt "beautiful". the argument is that it has to eat to live, well that is fair enough, but if it breeds and has children of its own then it doesnt care, surely that's the point.
if you kill to eat, you shouldn't copy yourself! unless you dont give a shit, just like that bird, so dont give me that "she's beautiful" crap, she doesn't give a flying hoot about the suffering it causes by eating.
@dwarfer777 I feel sorry for you. If there weren't any animals that "killed to eat" there wouldn't be enough food for herbivores, thus putting them to extinction. I can see them as not being "beautiful" when they kill for the fun of it, but come on, because of needing fuel to live? That's inane.
Predators are needed in the eco system, without them it would collaps, and everyone, and everything, would die.
Animals don't THINK the way we do, don't analyse, don't plan their numbers or anything like that..they are hungry, they eat, they find someone they fall in love with, they breed, they are sleepy, they sleep...get it? It is called, hang on...NATURAL? You take away cars and airplains first, then go after whats natural, please. And be naked - you were born naked right?
That's what makes it beautiful dude. It's a gear in the cog of nature. It doesn't CARE about what you think in order for life to continue. Things like that bird and the people who push toward the progress of life for the evolution of this world and all its species are what make this world beautiful. What you are looking at is life~ and all its spectrums. Should we only appreciate light without dark? Sweet without bitter? Highs without Lows? All are part of life~ it's gorgeous.
Wild animals are generally very efficient killers. Most prey don't feel pain for very long if at all, and starving to death is worse than being eaten. Also, grow some balls and live in the wild, away from your cozy little armchair and then you can talk shit about nature.
I've seen osprey everywhere in the U.S. and plenty in Canada. An other water bird that I love to watch is the King Fisher, the green and the blue. They're fun to watch. The Harrier is a great bird to watch also. There are bunch of osprey nests on old electic cable towers near The Montezuma wild life refuge in NY. I've lived off of bicycle unsustained for over 15000 miles in the U.S. and canada and have seen osprey everywhere.
@vardamin at my old house we had a nice big pond and creak right in front of our house and there was one big blue king fisher i loved to watch pluck fish outa the creek. the noise they make is so distinct
nice, good work :-)

It is not attacking the osprey mr bird watch. It is teasing the osprey because it's not fit enough to catch it.
