What an awesome tribute to an awesome man , he loved God, his Family and racing.. never met a stranger! RIP John!! you are certainly missed by all that knew you!
I raced blown gas flatbottom in the early 80's before they had capsules and the top fuel record was 226 held by bill todd he lost his life that year in 86 trying to break 230, that was the last year i raced, we lost 8 racers that year. It takes a special breed to race boats at extreme speed, I still follow drag boat racing and still feel the loss when anyone passes. God speed John.

I am soo bummed ! this was my hero! He really liked meeting my Dad and Steve Covlle. He remembered me year after year and the last time I saw him race at RedBluff he gave me an autographed connecting rod from his boat. RIP Jhon. You are and always will be my favorite. God Bless the Haas family
I grew up in St.Louis and now live in Springfield Mo. Grew up watching John race when they came to Creve Coeur through the years....Praying for the Haas family and know that he is missed....I'm so sorry to hear of this....Love the sport and plan to attend this summer 2011 in Wheatland Mo. at the Lucas oil event
Met John at a Truck stop in the middle of the night. He was on his way to Augusta GA and he met me there to deliver a Cole lake hydro that I bought from him. I knew that night after just a few minutes what kind of man he was. A great man and a wonderful family as well. I met up with him again a few days later at the race. He was driving Roger Way's boat at the time and I was working on the crew. Many great memories from those few years running the white boat. Great Tribute!
met john haas at the PRI in 2009. Introduced myself and we talked like we've been friends all along. I followed him on tv and internet. great team, boat and driver. What a very nice man. GOD BLESS TO ALL OF FAMILY, FRIENDS, AND JOHN. nice tribute vid also.
Nate ; Great job he was not only my cousin, he was also my best friend and hero! When john passed on a pert of me went with him! I love ya John see ya upstairs;till we meet again! Bill
Nate - a beautiful and fitting tribute to the "king of the lake". He did so much for the sport and was kind and unassuming and always there to lend a hand or share his knowledge with others. I wish that I had known him better. He died doing what he loved, and hopefully the information learned from the crash details will provide an additional level of safety to protect future racers from the same fate. Godspeed John, and now you can go for that 300mph mark anytime you want . . . . . jr
I only knew him for a short time, we talked the day of the race when he lost his life. John, my fiance asked the crew if he could take it for a test drive and they asked how much money do you have in your wallet. this was right before he went in the water.
We were sitting right in front of the crash site. Pretty scary. I think you've made a wonderful video for the family to have forever. May God bless all his family and friends.
just finished the 2010 races at Marble Falls, Tx. wasn't the same without that team there... found a pic from last year of my 1 yr old daughter sitting on the speed sports boat. brought a big smile to my face... missed u John....
please everyone that watches this video let me know what you think.. Did i do a good job? i want to know.... please.. I want to know if i did this man proud and his family.... thank you.

Can't believe it was a year ago. It's just not the same without seeing him at the races.
