I think it would have been kind of cute if Adama had gotten to her and started helping her walk and then she sort of collapsed in his arms and he would have picked her up and carried her to the end.
I love the suttleness of the love between them and the way the writers and actors represent it. It is a true representation of love when everything else is falling apart.
This scenes was very moving. Every time Adama sees Roslin his fac changes from the rough Admiral to a man who loves this woman with part of his heart. EJO and MMD made us believe in a forver love at any age. We see softer side Kara.
That was part of what made this show so brilliant. The last couple of episodes Mary McDonald goes from playing the cancer stricken President who can barely walk to the healthy Laura in the opera house. She even plays the hot MILF Laura in Daybreak Part 2.
True, she has played a dying woman twice. Has played a breast cancer victim twice, has played two character named Laura who were involved or once married to a man named William. And she has played a school teacher at least 3 times. Plus she's been president AND first lady. LOL But I wouldn't say's been typecast. Especially since her roles range from a nun to an escort service madam. LOL
Touching, gutwrenching... guh... I loved that scene. Laura totally put chicken Gaius to shame. She could barely walk but crossed that red tape anyway. Kudos to the makeup department. I couldn't believe the difference between flashback Laura and dying Laura.
Plus Kara supporting her was awesome. It sort of brought those two full circle after their clash at the beginning of 4.0. BSG rocks!
I'm not surprised she did that, but I'm surprised she was accepted given that she can barley walk let alone fight which given what they're going into, everyone that goes is going to have to do. And what can she contribute to a battle??? She's a former school teacher who's only battle experience is sitting on the Rebel Basestar during the Battle of the Resurrection Hub.
I consider myself only moderately sensitive when watching films/tv....tear up on occasion but not excessively.
But when she walked out from that crowd it was like someone punched me in the gut. Even though she put on her "fighting hair" and got up earlier, somehow I didn't see this coming. The most emotional moment I've had watching BSG. The bond we've made with these characters is something special.
Mary was so INCREDIBLE here! She really was robbed of an Emmy nom, at least, for her brilliant portrayal.

They were the best ship of the series. With them it wasn't all about sex, but it was real love; it was way more meaningful. (sob)

Adama should have kissed Roslin right there in front of everyone. That would be beautiful <3

@icyclaw123 I totally agree with you. I think Bill should have come up to her and just kissed her with all his might.

What is she going to contribute? Inspiration. Guns and bombs only get you so far.
secours23 3 years ago
True. But I like the idea of her playing some kind of more major role in the battle like she did with the mutiny

This is just another example of why these actors and this show deserve MULTIPLE Emmy awards. What a fabulous and touching scene.
