How to download fonts for Gimp or Photoshop

same here I download fonts and they work in word processor once installed. However when I loadup gimp (2.6.7) there are no new fonts?? can someoen please reply/ message me how to get the fonts to work in gimp?

What folders do you have it in? For me I had to copy the file and paste it in the etc folder under the Gimp 2.0 folder, and then the Gimp 2.6 folder under my user name. Hope that helps... but one font didn't work for me but I've downloaded two more and they worked when they did that.
