thats happened to me several times by accident when fishing for bass...a musky will come up after the fish on your line but wont grab the hook....one of the most frustrating things when they open up their jaws and just swim away...anyways hope you landed that sucker

No, unfortunately. Muskie spit up the bass about fifteen minutes later. A forty plus inch muskie is too much for a five weight rod. Landed the still-alive bass, though. Watching the video still gives me an adrenaline rush! It was a great fight.
