  • I know Kirk's real answer would have been the 2nd pick (using the 5 min to come up with a plan to kick their lice ridden Elasi butts) however, that 3rd choice cracked me up.

  • @HardWarUK Sure you can. Use DOSBox It's how I play :)

  • The best Star trek game ever.

  • this game was tough.. could complete each episode in many many different ways.. sometimes mediocre, sometimes well.. other times you only scrape through with your captaincy intact.. Whatever happened to openeded games?

  • wow! Great dialog, voice acting and graphics! It's like watching an original episode!

  • what happens if the difficulty is set on hard? Are enemies harder to kill?

  • Is there an emulator and ROM for this around?

  • @bsjt Let me know if you still want it, I'll send you an ISO of the game for DOSBox

  • Lol, i remember playing this game. I would choose the wrong planet on purpose. And fight whatever i found there ;D

  • I was only able to leave that cell by talking to the guard. Didnt knew that there was another way.

  • This CD version of the game doesn't properly support MT-32, unlike the DOS version of the game. :(

  • @biffrapper MT-32?

  • To think that was once the height of gaming technology. Thanks for the blast from the past....now to await STO.

  • Hey, Mike Reynolds! One of my favorite voice actors. :-D

  • my brother took this with him to college and stole it from me while left only the floppy disks cocksucker

  • @dogmonkeybottle Want an ISO? Let me know.

  • I like it how the midi music from this game is made up of cues from episodes the original series, great touch!

  • You earn more points if you talk to the guard and convince him to let you out. Apparently Kirk knew his father or something like that.

  • I know. That would have taken a lot longer to do with the dialog and wouldn't have fit in the 10 minute time limit. :)

  • Hey dude - how well does this title work with vista - & any installation, troubleshooting tip(s):

  • @TJae1 Sorry for taking so long to get back to you - Forgot I even had this up. You can run it in Vista using DOSBox, a DOS emulator

  • i can't believe i paid $60 for this when it came out. with inflation that is like $85. still a very awesome and nostalgic game.

  • Ahh you have found the weakness of the brig of the station.

  • Other Age...

  • Top game. Perhaps the best Star Game?

  • I agree, but I think Starfleet Command is tied with it for best. Two completely different games, though, and that one wasn't based off Trek canon.

  • Wow this is shit

  • Classic shit.

    Awesome game.

  • They should make a game like this again

  • Spock is sooooo hoooot!

  • Dispite all the advances we've made in the past 15 odd years you figure they would've made atleast one star trek game that's as good as this game was by now. Sadly...that's not the case

  • haha this game is nice made if u think about it:P i want to play it:(

  • You know what other games were on th DOS? Mario is Missing.

  • This brings back memories. I had the 25th Anniversary game for IBM DOS; loved it! Thx!

  • The grafics seem alot better than 25th anniversary that I just downloaded using dosbox.

  • Great game. Loved it as a kid. ST: 25th Anniversary is equally great.

  • I bought this for my PC back in 1993

  • Have both the games and wow they are still great!

  • cool I was never able to load this game even on my old pc.

I was only able to play 25th anniversary but it froze lol. cool they should have just made an annimated move instead of a pc game no one knew about.

  • I never got this far XD. i should install this into dos box...

  • i forgot how cool this game was ! i'm gonna search for it now in my collection of old games...thanks for posting and reminding me :)

  • Wow! The graphics are great, considering when it came out. I wish there was more to see for this game. I'd watch them all! I'm hooked now!

  • I love this game! 25th Anniversary is ok too

  • It's awesome how they got the original actors to provide the voices for this game. It's a shame they can't do that now, since Mr. Scott died... =(

  • And don't forget McCoy!

  • To be realistic, you should mention the actor's name for Montgomery Scott. (James Doohan.)

  • And Doctor McCoy :'(

  • and deforest kelly, who played mccoy. you cant mention one dead guy and not the other, you jerk!

  • hmm...It looks like Star Trek 25th Anniv

  • Ha! Spock sure took care of that guy. Yay, vulcan!

  • It's incredible to see so many other people who enjoy this game. 25th Anniversary was excellent too! I can't get either of them to work on windows XP, but I will try this "DosBox" and hope for the best! These are excellent classics and should be re-made in 3D! Excellent stories and AUDIO!!!

  • 25th Anniversary was better than Judgement Rites.

  • Holy shit I miss this game!! Thanks for posting.

  • VERY BAD GAME

  • No, no ... very good game, just very bad graphics.

  • Were the graphics good for the time the game was made? It was made in 1993.

  • The game was very good. For the date it came out its Fanstaic.

  • how did u get out of that cell? im stuck there lolz!

  • There are two ways you can handle Menao Sheme. ** Use Spock on the panel in the wall. Menao Sheme will lower the force field and try to stop Spock, but Spock will use the almighty, handy-dandy neck pinch and render him unconscious. ** Talk him into releasing you. If you are going to talk him into letting you out, the combination of choices to persuade him is: 2, 3, 3, 3. Menao Sheme will try to rally the other security officers to join the fight against Breddell.

  • dmanit how did u get those extra voices in?!?? mine doesnt have em =(

  • The cd rom version has voices but the floppy version doesn't.

  • My CD copy doesnt :( Annoying :)

  • it should be called judgment sprites:P (no offens just joking)

  • 'a new-'!!

    classic scene ftw

  • I really would like to play this game again.

It never worked right on my old computer.

  • Use dosbox. It will work form that.

  • Space..... the final frontier.................

these are the voyages of the starship enterprise... it's five year mission to explore strange new worlds.. to seek out new life and new civilizations... to boldly go where no man has gone ................BEFORE!

  • lol,, love that,,, "my God" heheh.

  • I love it sounds more like of the Elasi Friggin' Interdiction! LOL You are no match for our friggin's!

  • I used to have this game. Man I wish I had it again. But Mine didnt have the voices.

  • me too

  • Oh my. Sweet nostalgia! I played this game and 'twentieth anniversary' with my young son on my brand new dx 66 with 4 meg ram. We LOVED them. I also have the 'collectors edition' compleye with the VHS 'city on the edge of forever'. Putting this up was a great idea.

Remember the copy protection scheme? You had to find a certain star on the starmap, IIRC.

  • You know I never thought about the starmap as a copy protection scheme. I guess you would be right since the only place to reference where you were going is in the games manual. You could copy the game and give it to your friend but unless you had a photocopier they would be outta luck :)

  • As I recall this was a fairly common protection method back in the day. The usual thing would be to open the manual and find a word on a certain page but Star Trek added a little flair to it.

  • Yeah. Remember Quest for Glory II with that God-awful map of the streets of Shapier?

  • First time I've seen this running. It captures the essence of the old series pretty well!

  • oh my god, that is sweet! The original music in computer sound, oh sweet!

  • wow! I did all the 3D models and cut scene animations for this game. Including the title sequence, all the ships, and the space station.

I'm so happy to see this again! So long ago. My favorite cut scenes are the destruction of Earth and Trelane's triplane.

  • will this game work on vista? if i have DOSbox 0.71??

and secondly how do i use DOSbox?

  • It will work. For Dosbox use first make sure the files are in a directory (duh) you can name it whatever you want. Mine is c:\startrekjr so I'll use that for sake of time. Start dosbox and type

mount c c:\startrekjr. It will say drive z mounted to c:\startrekjr. Simply switch to c by typing c: and then to the directory with c:\startrekjr The .exe file is rites so simply type that in

  • Tried that and it still won't work. :(

  • Would this game work with Windows XP? Because I'm considering buying it but I don't know if it would work on my computer.

  • If it's a dos game, you can download the a free open source program called dosbox. This enables a dos window to run almost any old games played in dos. I want this game if I can phaser anything to pieces.

  • At the end, it was very clever. Ther wasn't any flaw in superstructure, it was a bait to lure the guardian :)

    Clever.

    5/5

  • lol if you videotaped the entire game, I would totally watch it all. ;) Thanks for posting this...ahhh the memories!

  • It was remastered I think for CDROM, when it went on budget. Also do not forget DOSBox is fantasic at brionging out the best in DOS games on a modern PC with lots of ram and a good soundcard and graphics card!

  • Bravo! This makes me want to play all the old DOS games again.

  • Has this game been remastered?! I have the original dos game that has nowhere near the kind of sound quality that this game has!

  • Not that I am aware of. I have the game both on 11 3.5 inch floppy disks and CD-ROM, both for DOS, and I believe I remember them playing the same way. Though I could be crazy because my old DOS machine didn't have a good enough sound card. :)

  • This has to be different. The opening credits of the video even said Enhanced CD version. What I have is the same game but the sound isn't near this quality. I mean I have no voices or same kind of sounds or music. Just old PC music in some parts of the game for like 10 seconds. Plus the graphics on this game are way better. This game is extremely cool on the video, I have never seen it this way. Awesome!

  • Theres a remastered version of the 25th anniversary game. The original didnt ahve the voice ins of William Shatner and the rest. I remember it well as I played it as a boy. I did see a video on ehre of that game that had voices so I am sure its a remaserted version. However this seems to be a sequal to that game and as I never knew I neve rplayed so I cant say if this is original or re mastered.

  • classic game for its time..

  • that is great. bethesda have to make such a game with all races and skills like oblivion. i would buy it right now.

  • sorry nybble i accidentally marked you as spam o.o

wanted to say they do* make games like this, or equally satisfying i think, but you got to dig around for them!

  • No Man's Land is definanly the best episode. I remember when I was like 6, my dad and I would always play it. It's only till recent that we got it working with DOSBox. The only problem is, the game saves always disappear or something! I need help!

  • I don't remember kirk beening so pissed. Cool.

  • Damn all I have is the Floppy version with no Voices!

Great game BTW, but still.... YAAARGH!!!! not only is it hard as hell to find cheap, but it probably can't run on XP

  • I hate the music rate for this game.

  • Music rate?

  • You can convince the guard to cooperate...

  • Oh I know :)

But with the YouTube 10 minute video limit, I didn't want to run out of time in the middle of dialog. :-P

  • What's your favorite mission, btw?

  • Oh, I think I would have to say "No Mans Land." The mission with Trelane was really fun

  • I totally agree. No Man's Land was my favorite mission.

And 'Voids' was pretty great as well.

  • Voids... If I remember right that's the one where the Enterprise gets caught in the Antares Rift and Spock is abducted? That was my second favorite :)

  • Yup. Exactly.

That's my second favorite as well.

    *sigh*

What a great game it was...

They don't quite make them like they used to, eh? ;)

  • Nah they, don't. Games today are just "point and shoot" or "build, point, and shoot" ... They don't make games like this or Zork anymore ...

  • Or all those classic LucasArts games such as:

"Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis", "Day of the Tentacle" (Manaic Mansion 2), "Loom", etc. etc.

  • I bought the game when I was kid, still have the manual.

Completed it (more than once) with a score of 100% on all missions.

  • The Star trek games made by Interplay are considered to be the only true Star trek games made as they incorporate so much of Star Trek into one package unlike other games that only focus on parts, like ship combat.

I highly recommend these games for anybody who loves Star trek and hasn't played them.

Nice video, a true blast from the past to be sure.

  • I agree. I don't remember too many specifics of the "25th Anniversary" one since it was so long ago, but I do remember my chin hitting the keyboard in astonishment. It was clear within the first 10 minutes of the stories, the "in character" text, the sound effects, and the music that the people who created the game TRULY LOVED Star Trek...as opposed to all the other ST games where the driving force was to milk the fans of their money.

  • Well lets give credit where credit is due... Starfleet Academy was a good game and once they really put a lot of effort into it Klingon Academy turned out to be a great game with great graphics, for it's time anyway :)

  • Imagine if this game were ported to windows with slightly better graphics. I'd so buy this damned thing even for 50. They don't even need 3D graphics.

  • Oh man... I'd do it myself if I could get the original code.

  • I remember the 25th anniversary couldn't get part that puzzle with the switches.

  • Ohhh, which puzzle was that? I'm trying to remember exactly which one you're talking about.

  • I didn't know there was a sequel to this game. I loved the 25th anniversery one.

  • 25th Anniversary was great too. I was introduced to this game before I found out it was actually the sequel to another. :]

  • just like an episode

  • i liked this game but it was too hard for me.

    Thanks for the upload.

  • LOL I used to play this game all the time when I was like 10, I could never get passed the harder riddles. I had completely forgotten about it until seeing this video.

  • And if you can find the CD or floppies you had it on and have aa reasonably fast computer, you can continue to play it thanks to the efforts put forth by the people involved in the Open Source project called DOSBox. It's a DOS emulator with EMS and XMS memory support, full Sound Blaster compatibility, as well as screen shot capture and video capture. It's what I use to play this game and the 25th Anniversary.

  • The Shat sounds so OLD

  • This is a great game as is 25th anniversary. But one thing will always puzzle me, why is it in Judgement Rites they took out the transporter sounds and the bridge sounds? Oh well still a great game anyway.

  • Cool. Was a great game!
