This E7 works brilliant with Belle. My E7 got updated to Belle yesterday and I am loving it. I think even the battery does not die much quicker than it used to do in Symbian Anna and its previous versions. Has anyone else noticed the same?
@JaJadenTheGreat By an unlocked phone and use it. This way you will actually save some money over a 2-year period. At least, this is what I do in USA. Since you will buy an unlocked phone, you are not tied down with just one network provider. This will be useful when you travel a lot outside USA.
i have always had nokias because they are practically bulletproof and i tend to break phones quite often, that said, the most advanced phone i have ever had is a nokia e63. my question to people who have this phone is a) will i break it in the first week i have it, or is it relatively sturdy?
and b) will my limited knowledge of phones and computers be enough for me to know how to work it

the fact that the phone's touch and along has a qwerty keyboard makes it easier to use, especially for those who are not used to use a qwerty board or vice versa. But still, the camera still lacks behind compared to the N8's 12 mp. Great phone though.

nokia e7 is an overpriced and outdated device even before release. symbian just isnt touch friendly hence the issues that are present. camera is crap, no micro sd slot and even the available ram is not good enough. phone bogs down rather quickly and symbian is too cramped too busy and just a mess. symbian belle is now available which brings some welcome visual improvements even a slide down notification menu. however symbian is just not good enough for a high end device of this nature. FAIL!

I have Nokia E7. The system and parameters are quiet the same as the N8. But E7 have a bigger screen and full qwerty. The only advantage that N8 have is the camera (12megapx) and the microsd card. Though E7 have 16GB of internal storage and a 8megapx camera that can record in 720p HD 25fps.
Yeah, but the camera on N8 is great..12 megapx + Carl Zeiss ..with autofocus..
On E7 you have full focus wich is quite different from autofocus..the pictures are great, but only if you can keep it still and if you have good light..I have a C6-01 so it's the same basics with E7 (differences in the screen and the qwerty keyboard)
It is a good thing Nokia does not make phones with Android... simply because Android sucks. The battery lasts for only a day, it is not that secure, and it always asks for internet access.

I purchased this model a few months ago (reduced taxation airside at airport and thus a decent price reduction) and I have nothing but praise for the Nokia E7! Also, for sure, the FREE Ovi Maps service is astounding whether used in-vehicle or on foot. Sreen clarity is tremendous. Key board ergonomics is most satisfying too. Prior to the E7, I used a Blackberry. The Blackberry was very slow as its SMS inbox filled: no such probs vith this E7. I highly recommend this device!
@00lazlo00 I agree with you wholeheartedly 00lazlo00! Just simply activating the Ovi Mapping system whilst strolling through the busiest of cities is as accurate as it gets! Pop the E7 into your pocked, earphones in situ, and casually listen to the clarity of the directional vocal prompts for designated destination. As regards the phone's capabilities: I often type essays and letters to be later uploaded for printing. I love this device. Best wishes.

I have this phone because of the querty keyboard...my wife has the sony ericcson x10 full size....anyway this is a far better phone.not as plasticy, the quality is superb and the video playback is excellent. I find it just as good as the android infact in someways better. The phone looks the part I have had several comment when I get it out as to what phone it is and how good it looks. The only thing I have against it is its a bit pricey but I suppose if you buy quality you have to pay for it
Thanks for the wonderful review. I've been using a Nokia 9000i since 1997 and have used the 9000il, 9110i, 9210i, 9500 and am currently (still) using my e90 which I adore. I've seriously looked at the e7 when it first came out, but I'm not sold on the slate touch screen design. I did own an iPhone 3GS for a few months as my "private" phone, but quickly ditched it in favor of the using the e90 full time.
Am now reconsidering the e7 so am checking out some reviews. Yours was most helpful.
My N97 hangs sometimes and power button too doesn't work, and i need to remove the battery to reset. If that happens on E-7, what do i need to do? Wait for the battery to finish... as it doesn't have a battery cover and battery is not removable.
@thefloatingskull there should then be a key press combination which bypasses the OS always, like there is on the iphone (holding down home button and power button for eight seconds).
hTC Desire Z rocks people, a really qwerty SMARTPHONE. This is no smart phone. However, it has a very good design for the qwerty in comparison to the Desire z. hTC really covers a lot and Symbians give you nothing. Nokia should start working on something better for softwar. Also, my Desire's processing and efficiency are great, 800 MHZ. Storage is 1 GB Rom, 8 GB included with SD Card slot. I am not a camera phone guy, but the 5 Mpx do the job. No front camera that i basically don't use at all.
@B1N1N1M actually... nokia is already making a way on chasing up with the other major competitors... ever heard of N9... look it up... it's a device natively made with Meego (an OS that can also run... ALL ur favorite Android apps natively)... they are still developing it though... btw, im also using Desire Z and i agree that it's GREAT...
Ive tried 2 e7s now & both have stall issues ie voice recorder stalls at around 19 mins & is a pain in ass recording long lectures & u look back & the bastard has paused & frozen for no reason & the salesman at Harvey norman informed me that many Nokia e7s had freezing stalling issues. I'm going to see if i can take the nokia back & get an lg instead since iphone is only available on a ph plan. The software sometimes restarts & freezes for no reason & beeps alot when recording ph conversations!

How is Opera on Symbian 3? Running OK with touchscreen?
Does the software crash? My E63 does sometimes when I overload it restarts with no notice.
Are the hinges durable?
Does the screen resists stain, scratches, etc, well?
Combine that with my previous questions on chassis stability when dropped.
Would be glad if some user can answer as I am thinking of buying it.

I've got the nokia E7 and i love it, however, the only bad things i can thing of is:
1. The price-
I don't really know much about this cuz' i got the phone on contract pretty cheap
2. The processor is a piece of shit ARM 11 giving a mere 700> MHZ which makes the phone kinda slow sometimes
Other than that the phone amazez me almost every day, i really lke this phone and would recommend it to anyone

@lukthere2 I do like the look of the Galaxy phone, but I did find the screen a little troublesome on certain daylight illumination. Mind you, Samsung are indeed a technological giant and, for sure, when I'm not overseeing the new Nokia products, I am also fascinated by Samsung's new products as they come on line. In what way do you consider the Galaxy phone better? Is it an overall functionality and design aspect in realtion to the Nokia E7? Best wishes lukthere2.

@MikrosNikolas11 e7 is better, i have an n8 and it sucks.. i just got my 5th replacement of it coz it hangs when i create text messages, and it is super slow.

@moccani01 i dont know about you but i have n8 and it really functions well and the best phone with a very potent photocamera ever known! 12megapixels,but i also desire E7 because of the keyboard/qwerty but it doesnt have the autofocus and the memory is not expandable.

@MikrosNikolas11 Just wondering the same. N8 has the amazing camera and a place for some extra memory but E7 has a slightly bigger screen and of course QWERTY. Not sure yet which one I'm going to buy but E7 seems reeeally tempting

android wouldnt fit on this phone. this phone is perfect the way it is. i buyd the ericson ark first but i traded it for this if u have the ark or samsung in ur hand it just feels cheap as hell and not worth ur money if u got this in ur hand you would send nokia 100$ fee for making something this perfect. love it !

I have this phone because of the querty keyboard...my wife has the sony ericcson x10 full size....anyway this is a far better phone.not as plasticy, the quality is superb and the video playback is excellent. I find it just as good as the android infact in someways better. The phone looks the part I have had several comment when I get it out as to what phone it is and how good it looks. The only thing I have against it is its a bit pricey but I suppose if you buy quality you have to pay for it

Thanks for the wonderful review. I've been using a Nokia 9000i since 1997 and have used the 9000il, 9110i, 9210i, 9500 and am currently (still) using my e90 which I adore. I've seriously looked at the e7 when it first came out, but I'm not sold on the slate touch screen design. I did own an iPhone 3GS for a few months as my "private" phone, but quickly ditched it in favor of the using the e90 full time.
Am now reconsidering the e7 so am checking out some reviews. Yours was most helpful.

My N97 hangs sometimes and power button too doesn't work, and i need to remove the battery to reset. If that happens on E-7, what do i need to do? Wait for the battery to finish... as it doesn't have a battery cover and battery is not removable.

@thefloatingskull there should then be a key press combination which bypasses the OS always, like there is on the iphone (holding down home button and power button for eight seconds).

hTC Desire Z rocks people, a really qwerty SMARTPHONE. This is no smart phone. However, it has a very good design for the qwerty in comparison to the Desire z. hTC really covers a lot and Symbians give you nothing. Nokia should start working on something better for softwar. Also, my Desire's processing and efficiency are great, 800 MHZ. Storage is 1 GB Rom, 8 GB included with SD Card slot. I am not a camera phone guy, but the 5 Mpx do the job. No front camera that i basically don't use at all.

@B1N1N1M actually... nokia is already making a way on chasing up with the other major competitors... ever heard of N9... look it up... it's a device natively made with Meego (an OS that can also run... ALL ur favorite Android apps natively)... they are still developing it though... btw, im also using Desire Z and i agree that it's GREAT...

Ive tried 2 e7s now & both have stall issues ie voice recorder stalls at around 19 mins & is a pain in ass recording long lectures & u look back & the bastard has paused & frozen for no reason & the salesman at Harvey norman informed me that many Nokia e7s had freezing stalling issues. I'm going to see if i can take the nokia back & get an lg instead since iphone is only available on a ph plan. The software sometimes restarts & freezes for no reason & beeps alot when recording ph conversations!
