@TheBangbus69 Damn dog, I've never been owned so hard in my life. In order to flee the shame, I will now delete my Youtube profhahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
cool my dad had a cebebrity when i was growing up car got rear ended by a truck and still after it was fixed never had any troble from it was a great car lol he still wont give it to me after 9 years of having it
@Gagero26 Um... The exhaust manifolds, crossover, downpipe, midpipe and cat are stock, as is the body and interior. Steering rack and associated components are. I put stock Celebrity rally wheels on it, but they're from a junked '87. I think the cylinder heads are the stock 2.8's. Yeah, a few things are, but I have replaced a large portion of the mechanicals, including the transmission in May '09. I'm gonna have the top end rebuilt soon.
I have a 1989 Celebrity 4 door with the 2.8L It currently has a blown headgasket and rather than rebuilding it I have the option to upgrade to a 3.1L for $300. Is the wiring, computer, mounts and exhaust a direct fit from the 2.8L to the 3.1? Any info is greatly appreciated thank you.
@4age20vbt Yeah, as long as it's an MFI engine. The upper intake should be the same design as the 2.8. It uses the same mounts, wiring, sensors, all that, but you'll have to swap over the 2.8's EGR. Also, if you get the engine from an L or J body, you'll need to replace one head bolt so you can use the dogbone. If you have any other questions, feel free to sign up at the A-body forum, a-body.net and we'll be able to help you.
My aunt use to have an '89 Celebrity Wagon which was then given to my grandparents. Same steering wheel to. I'm guessing it was the same model. Does yours have power locks and manual windows and mirrors?
Indeed it does. This is the CL trim, which means it has the velour interior. Even the third seat is velour, while most other wagons had a vinyl third seat.
The steering wheel is from a Eurosport. It originally came with that bus-sized wheel Chevy used back then, but I had the PO put the Euro wheel on before I left his house.
opps, didn't watch all the way through when you explained the engine. Sounds good. Are you going to get it painted? Looks rust free, was it a CA/NV/AZ car all its life?
No, it came from Iowa. There is rust, but it's not nearly as bad as it could be, considering it had been there for 19 years before I bought it and took it to Las Vegas. The fenders have some, and a good bit of the underbody, but it's not like the cancer you see on cars from the north or northeast.
i like the dual exhaust. i got a few celebs but only one wagon, an 86 euro, 2.8 4 speed auto. the best radio actually has a eq. i wanna put dual exhaust on my 86. if you wanna see my collection go to cardomain and search for celebfan. i got a convertable celebrity too.
Aha! I can't tell for sure, but the filter on my 87 Century looks similar, and if the bolt is gone, the engine would draw dirty air around the filter instead of through it. Yours must be different because more I think about it, the air hose comes off the top of the filter on the Century.
my uncle has owned three different year celebrity wagons-First one was a white 86, brown 85, and blue 84.All three had the 2.8 V6.

What is the name of the specific engine that the Corsica, Baretta, Celebrity, and Lumina had that made that really throaty exhaust noise?
joshster89 6 months ago
@joshster89 The "throaty exhaust" is not stock to any of those vehicles. The previous owner installed a dual outlet muffler that came from a Camaro.

Eighteen seconds in the quarter doesnt seem awful for a front drive nine passanger.
SCBianchi 7 months ago
What a shit car.. Isn't it ironic this bucket is called a "Celebrity" and an actual celebrity has never stepped foot in one of these pieces of shit.

@whitemikeyslife Thanks for your insight!

@nadz109 Oh boy, a troll! I was wondering when I would get one on this video.

I like it. Did you use a Camaro muffler?
Check out my 84 celeb wagon (3.8L supercharged)
linadsenoj 11 months ago
@linadsenoj Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's a dual outlet muffler from an F-body.

I didn't ever notice those older 2.8 or 3.1's ticking. I knew those crappy newer 3.1 sfi's ticked like mad and sounded horrible though

Oh, I would have never guessed, I couldn't see any visible rust. These cars are getting more rare every year.

Like the 'zaust note! You can tell that has the 60° V6 engine. It has its own sound.
Where's your air filter bolt? Won't that let crud suck into the engine through the hole?
Pretty good looking ride, thanks!
David
davida1hiwaaynet 2 years ago
The bolt has never been there. The filter housing is basically sitting on top of the AC drier or whatever that cylindrical thing is.
leftventricle 2 years ago

davida1hiwaaynet 2 years ago
I don't think anything nasty has been drawn in. The cover just about seals with the top of the filter.
leftventricle 2 years ago
Good! Engine sounds great and does not smoke any even whey you revved it. Nothing to worry about!
