Finally I found a video describing what my cat sounds like!

She goes like this every time I let her in, or sometimes when I "surprise" her by patting her while she's asleep. I always took it as some kind of talking. What exactly is this sound called? Purring/chirping/trilling?

That's not a purr ... he's answering you. My cat does the same thing, but only when *I* talk to him (as opposed to anyone else) ... my husband and I always called that his "lovey noise", because that's how he talks back to his mommy. Lots of times when I talk to him, he starts "making biscuits", too ... no matter where he is ... just from the sound of my voice. Does he only reply to YOU that way, or will he do it for anyone? It's definitely not a purr, though ...
