Some monks live more modestly and cleaner lives than most Christians. Living a spot free life has NOTHING to do with salvation, it doesn't produce salvation. Good works are works done in our bodies after we hear the Gospel and mimic the life of Christ we read about.
I also just wanted to implore to please read all of James chapter 2. It says plainly that faith without deeds is useless. I am not saying that it is useless to have faith in Jesus Christ, of course we must believe in him, and have faith in him, but we must also do our best to live by his perfect example.
Jesus himself said that "not all who say to me, Lord, Lord will enter into the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my father" after that he also said "he who hears these teachings of mine, and does not put them into use is like a foolish man, who built his house on sand, and when the storm came, it fell with a mighty crash". He said these two things directly at the end of the Sermon on The Mount, where he taught mostly ethical and moral teachings, on how to live life.
Thank you, God, for killing yourself as your son who you were and weren't, for my "sins" when I had yet to be born for 2000 years. It's great that you found a way to forgive me for your having made me imperfect, and that the only way to do so was by brutally torturing and killing yourself/son well before I had even come into existence is simply awe-inspiring. I'm glad that because of this you are not forced to burn me for eternity, despite your omnipotence and infinite love.
Faith in the redemption through Christ, is a prerequisite without which good works are of no value, but that does not mean that faith does not demand righteousness, purity and sanctification. The essential purpose of being a follower of Jesus is to grow in the Holy Spirit, through faith and by total obedience of God´s word, up to the full and permanent inner unity with God. The sheep of God´s kingdom are hidden by God on the meadows of goats, and more about it is written on my channel.
I'm sick of hearing all these self exalted Bible theologins argue about good works or trusting Jesus.
If a man says he has Christian faith he WILL have Christian works. There is no debate. It's impossible to have the real genuine faith of Jesus Christ and not produce fruit Jn.15 It is all because of the Grace of God that any of this is possible so no man can take credit for it. Nevertheless the Word says, "Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling"
I'm the Messiah! According to God, we are all sinners, and the penalty is eternal death! The great news is God loves me so you must love me too! Admit your sin to me and ask me for forgiveness. Believe in and receive me as LORD of your life and as Savior.
Please people, do research! Read the bible and then look for the religion that teaches what you read, and the religion that encourages you to read the whole bible, and the religion that is recognized for being good people like the bible says, look for the religion that is not involved in politics like the bible says. Please. I'm not trying to set an argument right here, just please do me this favor. You won't regret it. Remember "keep on seeking and you will find." Matthew 7:7 This goes to all!
Reading the comments here amazes me how ignorant people really are DO ANY OF YOU do ANY research into this stuff before you blab off at the mouth EVEN this guy who posted this video is as ignorant a s most of you It is truly amazing. REMEMBER THIS ONE THING The Bible was translated from Hebrew into Greek, and then English losing MOST of what was actually MEANT for it to teach regardless of how accurate the WORDS seem to be.
You're a scary dude, Zach. This is what I can't stand about Christians, old and modern.... The threats, the violence. Mash my teeth? Did I hear that right?
Are you saying that if I don't become a Christian that God is going to mash my teeth?
Are you saying that god is cruel and will let people suffer just because they did everything to be with him but weren't in the right religion? Hmm, then why does it say in 1 John 4:4,16 that god is love? Would any loving parent not forgive his son if his son tried everything? And his father has love and he would most likely forgive him, but god doesn't have love! HE IS LOVE!!!!!! I don't have human! I AM A HUMAN!!!!!!
what about "strive for holiness without which no one will see the Lord", "conform to the image of Jesus Christ" ,"Love the Lord" and "Love your neighbor", and Jesus saying "take your cross and follow me"?
"where sin abounds, grace abounds more.what shall we say then?let us sin so that grace may abound?God forbid"
Salvation is not a decision and Christ is not an accessory to your life.Christ is either everything or nothing.gather with Him or waste.
Christ says we must follow God's will in order to be saved. God lays out his will in various ways that are very much more in depth than a one time repentance and closet faith. God calls us to DO (verb) his will, and that involves clothing, feeding the sick (for example) in Matthew, for what we do to the least of His brothers we do unto Him. So it is more than a lazy closet faith, or faith alone, that we need to be saved (James 2:24); But a Faith that Works in love, Christ Jesus. (Gal. 5:6).
...gosh yur cute, and smart! im glad there are still real christians out there that understand the gospel is the most important part of the ol' Book of Life
I don't know of ANY Christians (much less "many") who believe that good works are "more important" than trusting Jesus. That kind of "either/or" mentality is more common among Calvinist-types who tend to force such words into the mouths of others. Just because many Christians reject "faith ALONE" does not mean they pit works against faith; rather faith and works act in tandem as two halves of the same coin of salvation (even though faith precedes the fruit of good works pleasing to God).
This one is difficult for most people to grasp. I'm thinking Zhueker means that it's in Gods spirit we must live WITH, but we can't win trying to live by the law. But that doesn't mean you should choose to live immorally because Gods spirit is not immoral.
Good ol' fire and brimstone. God loves, but live in fear! You don't get it. Its not your fault though. You live in the age of manufactured fear, why should your faith be any different. So, please tell me, oh mighty profit...what is holy?
I trust in what Jesus did on the cross for me. I also trust in what He does in my now causing me to live the life He commanded of me so that His good works may shine from within me causing me to do good works. If people do not cooperate in God's grace, then how can salvation ever be given to future generations? I guess our idea of what He did on the cross are two different things. He died for us so that we could carry our own cross (good works) as a continuation of His Cross to others.
Living a Christian life can only be possible if one trusts in the crucifixion. If they do not, then they are not living the Christian life. The Christian life can only be done if it stems from Christ.
I guess I would like a better understanding of what it means to YOU to "trust in what Jesus did on the cross".
For me that trust means I have a great responsibility (works) to heed the commands of our Lord in every facet of my life in hopes I can proclaim (works) the Gospel to whom I am called.
Yeah but the question is: How do you know that you are trusting in Jesus? Unless if you live a christian life (because you want it!), you cannot know if you really trust in Jesus. Of course ''even our good deeds are like filthy rags'' but no one says we must be perfect. Besides Jesus said: ''He who does the will of my Father will enter the kingdom of God''. Please see the video We Have Forgotten that the Way is Narrow by Paul Washer, if you haven't done yet.
Well, instead of trusting in our own deeds to make us right with God, we trust in what Christ has done. Then we are renewed as we learn to know our Creator and become like him. God's will is that we know him. Colossians 3v20
I think some christians "act Christ-like" for selfish reasons. They want to give an outward showing that they are better persons than other christians. Oh, the hypocrisy. Trusting Jesus Christ's sacrifice on the cross is the only way.
Okay, but your missing the point of that saying. "Act like Christ", or "What would Jesus do?" If the whole world was asking that, then think about what a great world we would have. Like Philos71 said "By tomorrow everyone would have plenty".
you cannot live a Christ-like life without first accepting Christ into your life. How can one be Christ-like when that person is dead in sin? Being Christ-like is not what takes us to Heaven. Being Christ-like is evidence that we have accepted Christ which is what (and Who) takes us to Heaven.
Good thought for a video bro! Yet we must also trust in what Jesus did in His holy, sinless life of active obedience to every requirement of God's holy law. We broke it and He kept it. By faith, His obedience to it is ours. All we owe God was accomplished by Jesus. God declares us righteous and puts His jacket over ours. We can stand before God robed in the perfect righteouwness of Christ.
I think that if one truely believes in what Jesus did on the cross that they will do good works anyway. In other words, I think that the two go hand in hand. Think about it, if you see a mother abusing her child, do you think that she should be saved? What if she believes in what Christ did on the cross? Does her child-abusing mean nothing then? Works are not a necessity for salvation, but more of an affect of it. If one does not do the works, then they are not saved.
If they say that they're saved because they believe in what Jesus did, but they still continue with what they're doing, then they aren't saved. If they start doing good works sincerely, then people will know that they've changed.
your vids have gotten a since of violence as of late, I'm not sure if it's showmanship to be funny or something else, but anyway, good message none the less, heh heh
Faith should be evident by work..not to say one or the other but works should naturally come from faith...ur pretty interested in James 2 arent u zkueker?
Who do you think wants us to believe that we don't have to live a Christ like lifestyle? Is it God or the Devil? Do you really think that the Devil wants us to live a righteous life? The Devil is the opposite of God and when you say that God doesn't need you to live a righteous life you are saying that the Devil does.
TheMessengerY2K, he is trying to say that trusting in Jesus is more important than just simply living a Christian lifestyle without trusting in Jesus. We do good works because we are saved, not because we want to be saved.
yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.
amen brother while it is important to live the christian life it is far more important to trust in Jesus and what he did for us on the cross that is most important thank you brother for pointing this out it is very important
"For by GRACE you have been saved through FAITH; and that not of yourselves, it is a gift of God; not as result of WORKS, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for GOOD WORKS, which God PREPARED BEFOREHAND so that we would WALK IN THEM." (Ephesians 2:8-10}
Zach, what specifically are you differentiating between? I recognize that you mention (1) Jesus' Sacrifice and (2) Christian Lifestyle, but can you clarify?
Are these supposed individuals you name at the beginning thinking they are saved via #2 or are you making some other point? Thanks, for whatever reason it wasn't clear.
I was demonstrating why being "Christ-like" is not "better" than believing or trusting in what Jesus did on the cross. There are so many proclaiming "Christians" who teach that it's more important to live like a Christian than just believing in Jesus or else you're "only giving lip-service."
Still ... not a shred of evidence that anything in the bible could be true.

And when you look at the original red sea scrolls, hm lets see. It says word for word the same thing!
There are only slight differences, when one word doesn't translate to the same word. But rather a different word with the exact same meaning.

2 verses that came to mind, that may portray your point.
Romans 3:22
This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe.
Romans 4:5
However, to the man who does not work but trusts God who justifies the wicked, his faith is credited as righteousness.
However, just to stir things up a little, I give you this verse:
James 2:26
As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.
I know you weren't suggesting that works are not needed, but yea.

Are said proclaiming Christians simply referencing the life-style apologetic or are they replacing Christ's sacrifice?
telemantros 3 years ago
they are placing the "Christ-like" lifestyle 'over' the trusting in Jesus' sacrifice.

Great video Zach.
We do not do good deeds to be saved.
We do good deeds BECAUSE we are saved.
